Yes! I totally agree with this. When I first started playing in August of 2005, someone told me this was the ele FoW armor and I got totally excited. It broke my poor little noob heart when I saw what FoW armor really looked like.

If guild wars started to look like anime I doubt it would become as popular as it is. But I have nothing against anime in general. I just dont like certain anime. You really shouldnt generalize anime at all.

WoW is cartoony and anime-like, they sold around 400% more copies than GW did?

If you're going to consider World of Warcraft "anime-like", then basically anything can be "anime-like". There is hardly anything in that game that resembles stereotypical manga-style character designs. It is pure Western-style comic artwork. Getting back to the subject, I wish that ArenaNet had allowed a little more flexibility in making armor designs. For instance, I cannot believe that in the entire game universe, female monks apparently have a whopping two armor styles that allow them to wear skirts. I believe the real reason for this is because all of their armors appear to be very influenced by the stereotypical Asian monk concept, where you wear loose fitting pants for martial arts reasons. How this fits into the Guild Wars universe has never made any sense, since monks do exactly zero martial arts (except with the /dance emote) and they are nothing but a renamed priest or cleric.

Personally, I find it really mystifying that a "monk" would imply some sort of association with a religion, but not a single outfit shows any kind of holy symbol or typical items of devotion. Even Buddhists carry prayer beads or the like, and there's none of that in this game.

The Buddhist praying beads would have made a nice off hand for monks, since we dont have a necklace slot.
