Default An uncharted creature drops loot. :D

So, my girlfriend was playing on her alt account (since her main account is afk in 9-rings) doing the festival quests for the quest rewards and then she randomly says "oh my god what the hell!?". Due to my surprise, I quickly ask her "what!?". She then replies with a short laugh and says to me "one of the "terrain creatures" (for example, an untargetable bull grazing in shing jea) suddenly just dropped dead as out of no where :\" Not only did I find this weird, but, she furthermore proceeded by saying it dropped loot for her. From what she said, it was on the very, very edge of her compass range so it dying definately had nothing to with her.

Anyways, I asked her to send me a screen shot of it and to make sure the screen had these elements in it so 'tards on GWGuru don't automatically give us that "0MFG YEW R T3H PR0 1337 L14R!!! DIZ EZ IMP0SS1BLE TO H4PP3N!! (aka: screen shot or it never happened) mumble jumble.
  • It shows the dead bull.
  • It said the Bull's name dropping the loot in the chat panel.
  • It shows her name (although the name is censored out) picking up the loot in the chat panel.

Anyways, here's the screen. Enjoy.

I am not really trying to say this is a bug, so, please redirect this to the correct place as you see fit. Thanks!

I've seen snow wolves (among other tamable creatures) drop lunar tokens tonight. Only difference here is that a) the animal is not tamable and b) not selectable. Someone probably used a non-targeted nuke or an aoe nuke (like [ray of judgment]) on a nearby creature and that's what killed the water buffalo. Don't really think it's a bug but that's just my opinion.

Notice the other dead bull at the bottom left corner... that one you can kill... The other 3 around the main bull you can't even target it.

None of my heros had any kind of aoe spells. That alt account is such fail. So I gave them whatever I had that was unlocked.

I just found it weird that it dropped me something. T__T

But Olias made a nice minion out of him. O.0

If you click this you will see that the "Water Buffalo" isn't even listed on wiki as an enemy (or any information about it, for that matter). The Raging Bull is what you are reffering to for what you need to kill to complete the quest. Notice the difference? We're not noobs, we know what we're talkin' about. :P

Nope. Not death nova. I have it on my minion master's bar but I have it disabled. He can't use it at all.

I had this happen to me before. Any PBAoE, [[[email protected]] etc. that hits a cow he will take damage. I believe [[unholy [email protected]] will also hurt them.

Yes, I've done this before. Well, to be precise, I hit a bull w/ Death Blosson right outside Shing Jea Monestary when I was attacking a Mantid. It became aggressive (and even made a loud bull-yelp because it was a critical, I believe. lol xD) and started running for about a good 2-3 seconds and then became untargetable again. I didn't think it was possible to kill them, though, so that is why I was interested in the situation. The fact that it DID die **AND** dropped loot (since I am almost 100% sure the only loot it CAN drop are festivel items) makes me wonder if my girlfriend is perhaps the first one in GW history to pull this off (even though she didn't even attack it or was anywhere near it xD).

Its okay, I was amazed to see those non-targetable bulls even had HP. I found out when something with AoE triggered it, was kind of cool.

Now, if only it dropped something incredibly rare... like Balthazar's Beard.

The item dropping is not a bug. Those WBs are considered killable creatures by the game, and all (or most) killable creatures have a chance to drop the Tokens (including silly things, like the dummies on Isle of the Nameless). As for the dying... Eh, who knows. But with the skillbars covered, and no proof that it wasn't killed by a player or Hero, I can't get into whether or not that is a bug.

In any event, instead of being closed or deleted, this thread is being moved to Riverside, where you folks can discuss this to your heart's content.

This is pretty much it.

The untargetable 'scenary creatures' have been killable since release - you just need to find a way of dealing damage to them without targetting them. PBAOE spells are a common solution.

I think one of the devs even suggested it as a 'think you've done everything, here's something to do if you're just that bored' at one point.

Heh, we are aware it is not a bug that it dropped the festivel item. Whenever events are applied to the servers, I am pretty sure that aNet makes everything that is killable (in PvE) able to drop an event item. Anyways, I just woke up like 10 minutes ago and I have to get ready for work. Bye, all.

I had this happen to me today too, but it's nothing new. I just stuck searing flames on two ele heroes and blasted the bull, which in turn fried the buffalo and it dropped a token.

This would be insane if that bull dropped a gold item!
