Noones forcing you to run around in HM. If you aren't up for it then by all means run around killing low level monsters with Sandstorm or w/e. I think it is ridiculous to say that HM ruined GW since it was put in as an OPTION, not forced onto you.
Geez...

Without commenting on the general complaint raised in the OP, I do think he deserves this point being made: NM was made easier when HM was implemented. So whereas his ele was more balanced for pve before that change, he now feels that his ele is overpowered in NM to the point of not being fun, but underpowered in HM even with pve-only skills, espcially since he feels he's forced to use a handful of non-ele pve-only skills in HM which limit his bar creativity. You can disagree with the OP, but I think its a valid point and not whining.

Ah, yes, I remember hard mode. Hard mode was back before this "hard mode" was made and people got together and made 4 and 5 man groups in 8 man areas. This "hard mode" I call gimmick mode because all you do is find the right gimmick, which is usually posted on a website somewhere, and you can pretty much let the heroes walk your through it. The right gimmick usually involves something like spiteful spirit to use on mele classes because they are still dumb enough to fight you with it on and with their increased attack speed they will damn near kill themselves.

I cant believe a QQ rant made it to 5 pages long. And was that a suggestion that the OP was offering??? Shouldnt this thread be in sardelac? or closed?
Lat me help. QQ remove Pve Skills to make HM fun again
QQ buff ele skills to make ele fun in HM again
QQ buff Minion skills to make them overpowered in HM
seems contradictory to me

Uhh, how sad. So the first ability that you loose when you turn into an idiot is to distinguish between a valid point/legitimate complain and whining.

Yeah. People in a good guild will be fine letting you run whatever you want. Organization + Fun > PVXwiki ....

Was NM made easier when HM was implemented? I actually didn't know. I can't really feel it either I must admit. I think NM is just as challenging as it has always been I must say.
Anyways if that is true then I can see why he complains over NM being too easy. Yet I still think it is a lot of whining. Especially about regular skills. I rarely use PvE skills, and I find many of the regular skills to be more than enough, (and I only use minor runes).

Exactly. As you have so aptly pointed out. You cant seem to tell the difference between a valid issue and yet another HM is bad QQ thread. So does this make a dozen QQ threads about how bad of a job ANet did with balancing PvE skills for HM? You have overpowered [cry of pain] and you have underpowered [vampirism], useful [save yourselves] then useless [elemental lord], THen you have the 90% of Eye of north PvE skills which are overpowered. Call the Waambulance

Yes. They at least did this:
Changes to Normal Mode
The following monster AI modifications have been made to Normal mode only. Monsters in Hard mode continue to use the most challenging AI available.
*Monsters in Normal mode now respond more slowly to AoE damage.
*Monsters in Normal mode are now less likely to kite for long periods of time.
*Melee monsters in Normal mode will once again focus all of their attacks on a single target.

It seems that some of the harder missions were made a bit more casual friendly in NM also, thunderhead keep being the best example of that.

I took the time to read all that. HM gave me more challenges and fun. You say your damage is pathetic, if you know what skills to use and have a good team setup it will no longer be pathetic.
The 3 skills you mentioned aren't that great I agree, and the "best" way I can see for human players to MM is to add a minion panel.
My fav character is an ele too, An ele can be a very good defense and party support profession.
QQ threads don't make you a better player.

Hmmm I have noticed how Thunderhead Keep was very long and easy compared to before. I just naturally assumed it was because I did it with heroes :P
Never noticed the kiting or AoE thing. Gonna try and keep an eye out for that then

HM doesn't steamroll people into playing a specific build, pugs do. Cryway, the imbagon, and (the late) ursan, are all results of people not wanting to learn how to coordinate a complete team that can accomplish something so they just said "you do this kthx" /entermission.
HM is not NM so it only makes sense that what works in NM might not work in HM. Doesn't mean you are doomed to run only one build or you won't be able to do it, you only have to fire up some brain cells and figure it out.

Wait, wait, wait...using SS on melee mobs is a "gimmick" now? WTF ISN'T A GIMMICK THEN? Apparently gimmick = anything that works well and isn't bats*** retarded.

Well, an interesting point made if you ask me. Of course, you have the people who disagree, the QQ detection squad and the people who agree with the OP but slightly differently.
The usual I would say.
Still, it is a fair point, even though I don't agree with the OP's approach (so I'll join the slightly different group). I feel that HM is tougher in NF than in other continents and also EotN is tougher in HM.
I have finally started on vanquishing (got nothing better to do) and am experiencing HM more constantly now. Already got the Legendary Guardian before, but missions are different.
What have I noticed? Well, drops in HM are crap. Something tells me they used to be better.
Is HM too hard? Well, there are enough gimmick builds so that you need just 2players with 3 heroes each and it's easy again...not too mention consumables. God, if all else fails, use con sets.
So my main character is a paragon and guess what, I am running my own version of the imbagon. End conclusion? I just push my adrenaline build skills and hit SY each time it lights up and do this at my leisure while the heroes beat up the enemies....hmmm kinda like someone's description of NM.
Yeah, I'm going through the motions of doing it, because well, vanquishing is getting pretty boring after the first 20+ area's....just about 100 area's to go...sigh.
HM basically requires some sort of trick or gimmick and it's easy again. I don't think personally it added much to my gaming experience but for some people it was a welcome addition.
In the end the laughing 3rd party has got to be the solo farmers. Permasins owning UW and anything else really, now rake in the ecto's and the rare drops and if you don't want to play a permasin then you better have a Cry build.
But what makes complaining about it useless? It's the same old story, only certain builds or classes apply. Nothing new in GW. HM is more of the same really, but with less tolerance for player mistakes and "fun" builds perhaps.
You want the titles, you do the work...guess it does feel like that. I'll be glad when I have my kurzick title maxed as well as vanquishing done...but it's still something to do I guess.
