All you need to complete this game can easily be earned by playing.
Anet doesn't care about a few dupers because they don't care about even bigger problems either.

I had to LOL, btw...

the reason why is it only worked with stackable items, otherwise u would see duping in weaons, etc.

I'm surprised this hasn't been closed yet.
All it is is misinformation, random speculation, and fear mongering.
All the dupers were banned. The stuff they traded to other people wasn't (since those people were innocent and had no way to know they were getting duped items).

QQ MORE...........Just because you can't figure out how to make LOTS of money doesn't mean everyone who has LOTS of money is a duper.
I got ALL these rare minis without DUPING or EBAYING. Just because you QQers can't figure out how to power trade you think everyone with a lot of money is a duper. I had predicted and gambled on rare mini pets going up in value. I bought and held many items during the 3+ years I have been playing this game. Some have not payed off like the 30+ sup absorbtion runes and 30+ sup vigor I bought before factions.....all the diamonds I bought before nightfall came out. I lost millions in those investments. But some like the 4 unded vizu I bought for 500ectos each sky rocketed and now unded vizu is around 4000 ectos+. My guildies laughed at me saying "why would you pay so much for a mini?".... meaning 500e for 1 unded vizu.
I made a fortune when green weapons first came out in the sorrows furnace update. I would buy them for cheap in war camp and sell them in droknars forge for 5 times what I paid. This was at a time before people used the wiki. Many people didn't even know where war camp was but they were happy to pay for the expensive new green weapons.
It is called power trading and investing. I still have rare items I am holding as investment hopefully they will be worth a ton someday. Items like +25% charr slaying mods and one of the rarest items in game "tattered girl's Cape". There are many other minis right now I think are undervalued and should go up even more soon...like Varesh, Certadon, Gray Giant, Asura. They are already starting to go up. And I stocked up on them months ago. There are many ways to make money in the game without breaking the rules.......
Here is a quick example of a power trade......If you get 1 mini ghostly drop for you in halls you have just made 1650ectos. If that person wants the ectos quick they might sell that mini to me for 1500 ectos. Then I take my time selling it and get max value 1650e. There is no scamming... There is no duping.... and I just made 150 ectos. Now assume while I am holding this ghostly mini trying to sell it that the price goes up to 2000e. That is the perfect example of how I made enough to buy a gold trim guild for 11000 ectos. I really enjoy guild wars and trading is almost as big a part of it as PVE or PVP. SO......QQ more it is really funny. Try using your imagination before calling people cheaters.
Is this a TLDR post?

LOL. The bolded part is especially funny/full of fail. Anyway..
Of course there are legit players with lots of ectoes. People are merely saying that there are those out there who are not legit. Can you say with absolute certainty that everyone major trader is 100% legit?
BTW, not every duper was banned. The majority of them are because they duped within that one week where it got out of hand. The people who duped long before that week though were not.

I get asked why I bought a gold trim guild frequently..... The answer is .......drum roll.......what else do you spend 11000 ectos on in this game anymore? If you have the money why not buy a gold trim guild. I don't even use the gold trim guild for my main account.... PLUS I am looking to buy more gold trim guilds. I am going to collect them all if I can. LOL

Those sound like big numbers, to be sure - but I think you missed the boat. 10,000 armbraces are 400,000 ecto, at ~40 ecto each (this would explain why they duped 50m armbrace stacks, rather than 1.25m ecto stacks).
So what you're working with is like <2% of these 'monster' wealth accounts (2 billion gold+). So go 'dupe' yourself 50+ times, and when you do, get back in line over there with a retort --->

I am not a rich "elitist" and still think people complaining about dupers are annoying and arrogant to the explanations being given.
Quote:
Let's be frank - these elites themselves knew about and prolly used a good number of these exploits, and now have GW wealth that is in some way, shape, or form, based on that very same fraud. FWIW, I myself heard of a bug that was exploited hardcore for a while - rare matl vendor selling ectos for ~200g.

Trader reset, when all country's severs where brought under same prices. Not an exploit.
Quote:
Sure there's power trading, but come on - only the power traders are doing it, and they're not all easily 'duped' (no pun intended LOL). This can get you a million here and there, with some hours invested to be sure...
|
Only powertraders are powertrading? Thats a brilliant insight. And power trading takes no time with the trade forums on this site. Put up High End with the items and check on it and for good deals for 1/2 hour a day.
Quote:
However, I'd bet most of this wealth is NOT dupe related nor is it power-trade related.
|
Smartest thing in your post
Quote:
My belief? It's account hacking/farming related. Not sure how much Chinese sweatshop farming takes place here, but I bet it's similar to other MMORPGs. 20 accounts can net you 2-4 million gold in zkeys every month through the xunlai house. Most likely, most of this 'monster' wealth (2 billion gold) is simply the result of javascript-kiddies and their keylogs - NOT DUPES.
|
The tinfoil hat is preventing brainwaves from reaching the keyboard. At common rates (5-10 dollars for 100k) the amounts on some of these high-end trades in is the 1000's of US dollars. If I remember correctly the selling price of the first polar bear was like 16,000 USD in gold (I had calculated it out not sure if this is right) so if people are paying out that much for pixels I fear for humanity's sake. (Racist Part Highlighted)
And also thanks WhiteWasabi for helping to explain why the poor complainers should STFU

Its really not that hard to believe that people can get this kind of wealth. One of my friends bought an everlasting phantasmal tonic when it first came out for 40k, sold for 200e, bought an unded shiro'ken for 400e, sold for 700e, etc. You just have to know what to buy/sell and it's easy.

This post was never meant to imply to those who have money that they obtained it all by ill means.
The post was to ask why known dupers were let back into the game.(*you know who you are).
That is all.

Wow, classic debunker. I remember your types in 1999, calling people conspiracy nutcases for claiming there was a 'war on oil,' or that the Wolfowitz doctorine 'emminent Pearl Harbor event/subsequent looting of the US Treasury' was further tinfoil wacko clap-trap. But I certainly digress...

SO I wear a tin-foil hat, yet *YOU* further my assertion that there are chinese sweatshop farmers selling 100k (2-4 hours labor MAX) for $5-10?

Since when is the truth that there are sweatshops in China set up to farm MMORPGs racist? You need to get a grasp, and realize that they are getting $0.50-$1.00 an hour TOPS to toil away in sweatshops in China, farming MMORPG's 12/7.
Your lack of acknowledging the TRUTH about Chinese slavery is more racist than stating a fact about a legitimate business enterprise in China.

Hmm you must have missed that post about the guy with 5000 armbraces and net value of 2billion. Shall I do the fuzzy math for you? 200,000 * 10,000 = 2 billion.

At great risk of destroying this thread (which isn't much of a thread anyways so who cares), I have to say that this is pathetic on so many levels. What happened to the good old days when only 2-3 guilds had gold trims and they actually meant something?

there's a bunch of doods like white wasabi that did similar things. if you wanna be super rich you got to start from the beginning and stick with it. you have to always be thinking how you can make money and have friends helping each other. for some people that is fun. for others its farming, soloing, pvp, or whatever else. i doubt anyone farmed 1000 armbraces themselves. but 10000s of armbraces have been farmed, and wealth generally ends up in the hands of the smart and wealthy, so its no surprise people have 1000 arms.

People are getting defensive for about this for no reason. The point was about dupers not getting 1000 armbraces legit, although I am not sure how to power sell to 1000 armbraces or more but if you can then cudos.
I expected some flames on this one, but you are correct about speculation since I dont work for Anet and thus don't know the status of the bans.
What I do know is that it is too bad that duped items are still in the game and it demeans those who worked hard for their cash(this means you as well Wasabi since you took personal offense it seems even though none was given).

AND thats why you play 24/7 and dont do nething but GW
...neways but no people with over 2000 armbraces...thats dupe for sure.......cause i mean really you see people you never heard of that powertrades/runs missions/runs dungeons just pop out of nowhere with 2000 armbraces i mean if they pop out with a kanxai or panda sure they may have won it...but random 2000 armbraces??
