Titles don't show skill imo, but hopefully it will unlock some cool skins in GW2. Like weapon skins and armor, they are all the same technically but they look different.

IMO it will be similiar to the kind of extras you get when you buy a collectors/pre-order - plus a little extra
Minipets, weapons, summoning stones, a couple of quests telling some kind of ancestory.

Titles do not require skill. Not a single one.

Some titles show a certain degree of skill I guess. Before all the easy mode farms became available for survivor a lot of people did it either by questing their brains out or capping skills, or both. The Guardian titles also require a decent amount of skill, since getting the bonus on some missions can be painfully difficult.
Anyways, things put into the HoM will not give players any real advantage as has been said in the EotN interviews before it's release. I imagine we won't see direct crossover of anything, but rather something similar to /bonus. The only difference is that they have also said that each thing placed in the HoM warrants it's own reward. So if you put say your destroyer sword, and your destroyer daggers, you are supposedly going to get two different rewards, one for each.
Personally I'm still curious about their sidekick system, and how they're going to reward those that have hero armor which allows us to display our heroes. Will we able to ally ourselves with the descendant/s of the Master of Whispers? Pretty interesting ideas, lots of possibility.
We still don't know all the facts though, so it's best not to assume anything.

According to OP high PvP ranks make you a better player. Since he looks like a reasonable guy who knows what's he's talking, I'm gonna scroll down to the Services subforum and buy myself some PvP ranks. I want to be good too.

Lol. It seems the OPs delluded view of more tiltles = better player will get him very little in GW2. It is, as most other people have said, unlikely to be anything more than another Hourglass Staff, or maybe even a special summoning stone! It won't be anything that really sets players apart from new people.

You should get the titles you want to achieve for your satisfaction only., and only for GW1.
Personally I don't think GWAMM in itself will carry any extra award at all since
Quote:
Then, when Guild Wars 2 arrives, each of these monuments will correspond to special features your Guild Wars 2 characters can "inherit" from your own legendary past, giving you access to exclusive titles, companions , weapons, attire, and miniatures. These inherited items are unique: there is no other way within Guild Wars 2 to acquire them.

Seems to me like the only way to get these 'goodies' is via the HoM. You max out the HoM you max out the goodies. So to answer this we need to look at the HoM
The decorations and lighting increase for each rank in Kobd. So if you have kobd rank 4 and max your Hom, then the lighting in the hom changes to that of someone with KoBd 5 and no full HoM. Since (currently) the max kobd rank is 6, then it follows (since the Hom is the only way to carry rewards forward) That a maxed Hom+Kobd 5 gives the same value as GWAMM. There is no visible change in HoM for a full HoM+GWAMM as that would= Kobd R7, which as yet does not exist.
It's also unlikely that anet would give multiple rewards for degrees of filling the HoM. So another route they could go would be.
Full Hom=a special max reward
And then an individual reward for each tapestry filled.
Anet have enough to do for GW2 without designing and programming hundreds of perumtations of awards etc for GW2. As I said, play GW as much or as little as you wish and let GW2 worry about itself.

I read this posts about how lame titles are.. How HoM wont give you anything in GW2. You know I dont care.
I filled my HoM for me - Its my vanity room
I got my titles - Its because it gave me something to do
Im quite proud of my accomplishments - I had alot of fun along the way too
I dont care if GW2 gives something or not. I played this game how I wanted to play it, not for what it will give, as it has already given me endless hours of fun and the bonus of meeting some really nice players along the way.
Just play how you want to play and have fun.

My main is a GWAMM. I was maxing titles before NF even came out, and then continued on. EOTN gave more purpose to them as I can get something maybe in GW2.
Why max titles? For a sense of accomplishment. That was the original aim and still holds true and I still work on maxing titles even beyond being a GWAMM.
GWAMM may not give me uber stuff in GW2, but the work I put into it may, as will filling my HoM which I have also done.

In my case, that "sense of accomplishment" is non-existent. I mean, there still are titles that can be maxed. What's more, they're reachable even though I've transformed to a bit more casual player.
As far as GWAMM itself is concerned, maxing my 30th title was anti-climatic. No Heavenly Light (tm) shining down on me, no gods to greet me, no white doves magically appearing out of nowhere, no harps playing in the background...

No one knows what you'll get in GW2 from accomplishments in the original GW. If anyone tells you otherwise at this point, they're making up stories or believing rumors that aren't:
A.) Proven
B.) Probably True

You will get a special godmode skill.
Something like (old) Ursan Blessing and (old) shadow form combined.
This one is different though as you will really turn into a semi see-through bear when using the skill. You will also have permanent +10, +10 health and energy regen and permanent max adrenaline.
You will get a shape-shifter minipet that you can turn into any other minipet form whenever you feel like it.
You will get a 100mil gold starting bonus in your inventory first time you log in.
You will also have the ability to stack any amount of items.
You wont have to pay for armor, tomes or runes and merchants will give you better prices when selling your items.
Whenever you report someone the person is automatically permanently banned and you receive all that person's items and gold.
.... etc. etc.
:P

I'm curious to know.
For now I'm not working about titles, I just play occasionally to get some fun, but won't go for any title actively.
Maybe, when GW2 will come out, if the reward is something I like or I want, I might push myself to do some grind, otherwise I won't...
I don't expect much though, not some special benefit ingame (Anet has already stated that). I think it will be like collector edition / preorder pack weapons.
Do you remember the hourglass staff and the icy blade?
At first everyone thought they were cool, but today they are just hero equipment.
I expect something like the following posters say:

Writing on a forum = grinding out GWAMM now?
The OP better watch out then if they think they are gonna get anything special...

titles dont mean shit.
just because you have a maxed luxon or w/e title doesn't mean your good.
even the noobiest of noobs can go in and win a few rounds of Ab and collect faction.
Back to point.
I wouldn't mind seeing titles play a bit more of a role in GW2.
Maybe Survivor would help you get more xp? Although thats a waste after r3 survivor anyways, but more skill points isn't too bad.
i dunno thats all I got
