There are 2 things tht can be done to solve syncing in RA.
1) Remove the Glad Point award, or revert it back to 1 point per 10 wins. Keep the balt Faction reward as is though. This will reduce the sync to "0" if the Glad Point reward is completly removed, it will also kill the arena to empty, but increase the amount of TA players. Reverting it back to a 1 per 10 wins, should reduce the sync and repopulate TA, but it will not stop the syncing.
HOWEVER, this plan will NEVER be placed into effect. Back when the entire Glad Title was revamped it was done by the Devs for the expressed purpose of the Devs wanting their Glad 3 for the HoM and not having the time to earn it via TA, so they made doing it in RA easier.
2) Remove multiple Districts from RA. Make RA "International District" only. You map to RA and POW automatically in the International District with the option to change districts greyed out. Sure you need more than one district, so there may be up to 10ish at anygiven time of RA International Districts, or however many are needed to meet the player capacity. No empty districts, no syncing.
This would make finding an empty district to sync from impossible, sure the very last District of RA could be rather less full at any given time, but I doubt it would ever be completly empty enough to get off a perfect sync.
Players will say "But I lag when not in my home district" well tough shit, cause ya know each map you move to can move you to a different server depending on the amount of teams in your server. If you sync from an empty district, you will most likly move off that server to a populated one to face a team so who cares about districts.
Although I like choice 1 the best, as I will choose anything that could possibly bring back TA from the dead though it, sadly, will never happen. Choice 2 WOULD WITHOUT A DOUBT kill off syncing.

Please exclude RA from all discussion that relates to arenas. RA should have been kept as a practice arena or a build test arena against randomness; having a title track attached to that arena was a blunder that ANET never wanted to fix.
That said, SYNCing is one way to circumvent the leeching or botting issue in matches. If three of my friends get in a match in Quarry, you can bet your rear that you will be reported if you leech or BOT. Also, it provides us with a chance for somewhat organized play. **Not everyone is still into GvG or HA... not after 3+ years.**

I stopped ready thread here. I sync with buddies that are all in different guilds and since you can do this you can never fix syncing.
Why is there another thread on this? They can't and won't fix it.

Oh, I understand the argument fine. I just think that the "it's supposed to be random and thus the random element should be enforced" is shoddy.
If pve guilds began syncing AB, I doubt there'd be the same shitstorm over it.

Solution: close RA. No more syncing, no more bitching.
I think its time that GW players recognize that this is a dead game, not just to most players, but to anet too. The occasional updated skill or question answered on a talk page cannot change that. Anet has moved on and only refuses to admit it for fear of losing its built in player base for GW2. That's no reason not to play if you want to play, just don't expect crap out of anet.

How do you figure? It's supposedly a "random" arena. Seems to me then it ought to actually be random, or should maybe stop being claimed to be random.
I can see how it may be viewed as not a very important issue, but I think that's separate from the legitimacy of the complaint.

That never happened, you're just unaware of the concept of an illustrative example.

Maybe I'm still half asleep then, but a comparison is still a comparison...
But comparing to a game that was released four months before guild wars, which then, TWO YEARS LATER, nicked the Random Arena idea, but admittedly implemented it better is still a comparison

comparison (webster's): a comparing or being compared; estimation of similarities and differences
illustration (webster's):an example, story, analogy, etc. used to help explain or make something clear
As in: clarifying how a functional random grouping system (which was added in June 2005, so I have no idea what you mean by "2 years") works.
This is moot point and has nothing to do with the thread, so I'm done discussing it. Especially since, as I've already stated, it was merely an example and Guild Wars probably does not have the population to effectively use a similar method of grouping.

Sounds like people didn't run into as much botting/leeching this past weekend as was expected, but did face an awful lot of sync presets. Guess I didn't miss much...

We know that synching is an issue and is a problem for players. It's not technically an exploit. The way the game was coded is that people who speak the same language will get matched up with each other before people who speak other languages. You all have perfectly valid concerns in that synching creates an un-enjoyable environment for people who aren't synching. This is a server problem, and before looking into ways to patch the issue, we want to examine the core problem. But at this moment there is no time on the Server Team's schedule for this. They're really busy with GW2. We would like to fix the issue, and we are looking into the feasibility of this. Just because we say that we're not able to fix it _right now_, doesn't mean we don't know and understand that players are concerned about it, and it doesn't mean we don't want to address it.

Regina, I don't know when the interview mentioned in the OP was made, but the wording in French clearly states (about "sync join"):
nous n'avons pas pour l'instant l'intention de faire quoi que ce soit
we have for the moment no intention to do anything (about it)
I think I read the opposite (can't remember from whom) and this interview seemed to me (and the OP) as a U-turn on the topic. Apparently your post indicates it's not. Hope the Server Team can spend some time on this issue in the not too distant future.
As said above, this facilitates glad points farming at the expense of newer players learning "part of the basics" of PvP.

I'm pretty sure Gaile made the exact same post 2-3 years ago (minus the GW2 part). I would dig it up but I don't have time atm.
