all i can say though please note that some of the art was for Guild Wars: Utopia aka the lost campaign. (it was scrapped in favor of eotn, this is where all the "chronomage" stuff came from, also this Aztec and Magic themed campaign did become the Asurans in eotn).

interesting... i would like to point out for the lol that most of the books that the Author has written at least from the small search i did on him via that site(the one the op posted) were about dragons.... what do we know about guild wars 2 DRAGONS....

There are plenty of fans of various authors that would be overjoyed if the authors in question took only a year to complete a book.

Personally, lore got very bland after NF. I mean defeating a god, even a fallen one...how can dragons be any kind of a big deal? Let alone that weak "Great" Destroyer...

We know what happens with Ascalon, the same crap that happened ever since the Searing. The title indicates that all the book will be about is exactly how the charr completely overrun Ascalon (still don't get why they're so hell-bent on that after the titans are defeated), include that last stronghold of humans I forget the name of, and offer some GW2 lore tease.

More significantly, the books are scheduled to come out before GW2 release. Easy to suppose that somewhere around end of '10 we might start to see GW2 stuff, to give time for the books to get publicity and get read.

According to the information we have about GW2, Ebonhawke is still holding out then. I'm guessing ANet wants to have another Factions-style conflict zone.

As for the Charr continuing to attack - from Ecology of the Charr, the Charr worshipped the Titans because they wanted to destroy Ascalon rather than wanting to destroy Ascalon because they worshipped the Titans. That they no longer worship the Titans doesn't change the fact that they hate humanity and want what they see as their land back.

Well, look at it from a writer's perspective. Remember, the whole world does not play Guild Wars. For all we know, this author may have been approached and probably knows nothing about the series. I write as a hobby and I will tell you that writing a book is not like writing a report. When someone is asked to write a story steming from an existing story line when they have no previous knowledge of the game/movie/series/etc, it takes a LONG time to understand the land and characters. Although there will probably none of the original characters from the game will be main characters, the author still needs to know what these people did and if he refers back to them, he has to get things right. This writer is taking up a huge task since the author has to write for a fan base a couple million and one slip up can cause a ton of controversy from the fans.

So one year is actually very reasonable for a writer who is writing a book which will take place between the games. Remember, he has to be in constant contact with the creators of GW 2 so that everything leads up to where it needs to go.

I'm not thrilled about the idea of GW literature, even if it does reveal all sorts of tasty plot points for GW2. As we've already seen, the writing for Guild Wars (and what little we have seen of GW2) is not exactly worth spending extended periods delving into. It remains to be seen how good any books relating to the game world will be, but I'm not going to hold out hopes for anything of even Forgotten Realms quality.

This book will be 352 pages (if not a joke). I've read a lot of book around that size in pages and it took them 8 months to make. The book isn't that long...

Am I the only one that enjoyed reading the prequel in the manuals?

I guess you wouldn't call it a prequel, but that little short story at the beginning of Prophecies?

same here.

Last year, my friend had been playing gw for about a year, I was all into Age of Empires III, CIVilization IV, Empire Earth II, Rise of Nations (all of them are historically accurate (some more than others) RTS games). He showed me the manuals, for all but Nightfall (I didn't care about it at the time) and eotn (I started playing on explore eotn week, so it wasn't out yet).

I enjoy reading my game manuals front to back, I also enjoyed fantastical literature. I instantly was sucked in to Tyria.

I spent an hour or so (I'm pretty fast) reading all the lore that Arduinna mentioned in the link the next night.

Was at the game store a few months later, I had forgotten Gw, but I saw the case, I remembered the lore, I picked up the box (Prof: GotY), I was re-assured of its awesomeness, I had around $75 in gift cards (save them when people give them to you, its a nice boost when something new comes out). I bought it (2005 was the last good RTS year imo) so, seeing as 2007 (December) had no good new games for me, I was confident that this should be a nice addition to my games (my first CoRPG

, My MMo bank consisted of the fact that I played Runescape for a month, and WoW for half an hour). I was so pleased with gw, I haven't played anything else for more than a week since. (I don't play 4 different games a week, I play one for a few weeks another later etc.).

Lore brought me into Gw, and these books will keep me here, and bring some new Lorisitive

(lore+inquisitive, gotta love poetic liscense

) people into gw.
