Precisely why I don't see why it is so difficult to ban these people. It's not as though we have an army of farm-bots with "asdsgdfdgg" type names. These individuals have been reported repeatedly by many different people. I'll bet some have been reported hundreds of times.

What I don't understand is, why are we not allowed to show their names on here? Wouldn't it make sense that we all know who they are so we can report them or at least be wary of them? And if Anet, by chance, sees them, then maybe they might even do something?
|
Maybe there are some legal issues to do with it? I dunno. It's not defamation if it's true.

Fort Aspenwood getting Worse
So i recently started playing FA hardcore and i noticed in one of my matches a nec that used Aura of the Lich a few times. After the timer ended and we went to get amber, the Nec killed herself and the minions killed Gunther ending the game. These are called "Griefers" or thats what the Kurzicks call them. I dont know if i can post any of the Griefers names so i wont because i dont want my post to be deleted but people said a whole team reported one of the Griefers and there account deleted. There are 2 more that still run around killing off Gunther, plus someone posted a video on youtube how to use the Griefer build. Which means that people who see the video are gonna think its funny and every round is gonna be another suicide to kill off gunther. So most people bring "Vetra's" to use when this happens or either use the monks to heal so gunther doesnt die. I think Anet needs to do something about this otherwise FA is not gonna be worth playing. Plus the leechers in FA on the luxon side is an extreme problem, we had one game where a guys whole team were leechers so we just sat and talked and nobody killed eachother. So basically anyone who has a Griefer (the kurz will call them out because they know who they are) everyone report these characters so we can get FA back as its suppose to be.

This is an increasing problem - there is a thread in the sardelac about it.
People are bored and doing anything they can to ruin the fun of others

Reporting won't solve the problem. Look where reporting leechers has gotten the Luxons. At the same time this is a way for Luxons who don't care to adapt their builds to work or can't win with 2-4 leechers to win within 2 minutes (if they have a second account). The only way that this will go away is when Anet wakes up and finds their 'beginner's arena' is full of leechers on Luxons and griefers on Kurzick.
Perhaps deleting the Necro class from PvP would do, I don't think there have been any non-degenerative Necro builds (except Tainted but that may as well be regarded as a gimmick with heros). PvP wouldn't really suffer with FF and WoD gone. It might even bring condition pressure back *gasp*. (after the game's pace gets toned down)

Well, I can verify that the leeching problem on the Luxon side is severe. I have not been in any battles where Gunther mysteriously kicked the bucket. Only thing kicking the bucket has been the Luxon team trying to get by with 4 or 5 players.
ANet does need to step in, no doubt about it.
As for griefers, they have been around since the release of Prophecies. You can report them. Won't do much good. Same thing with the leechers, report them but nothing much seems to happen.
The griefing problem is much worse on GW than WoW in my experience. Playing WoW since its release, I only saw one griefer there. Comes from having GMs.

Gaile (thank goodness for Gaile) has noted in late January that the dev team is looking at Ft. Aspenwood.
and, btw, as a dedicated luxon I don't feel bad for you at all. every single match we have to deal with leechers that extremely limit our odds of winning vs. the occasional griefers on the kurzick side

Let not bring leeching on Luxon side into this because guess what Kurz have them too. Thats why I stopped playing in FA. Although this particualr problem here isnt new. When I used to play before the AoTl change there were 2 people who always came in and built up an army using BiP on the npcs inside of the gate and the other person had a rez and when person with bip died person with rez created army then once full person b would sac himself and kill gunth. Altough now its easier. Does need to be dealt with.

The problem is a direct consequence of extremely bad game design. Its all down to the Kurzick/Luxon title tracks. Even after the rebalance, these tracks are stupid to attain with normal gameplay. So any persone who wants them, but wants to stay sane, simply afk farms the competative missions.

The problem is a direct consequence of extremely lazy people who want titles with minimal effort. Its all down to the Kurzick/Luxon title tracks. Even after the rebalance, these tracks are not that hard to attain with vanquishing. So any person who wants them, but wants them immediately without putting effort into it, simply afk farms the competitive missions.

Well, it's march and we still haven't heard anything from the devs about this problem. I was actually hoping that they would give us an update this month too. Let's hope April will give some better news.
And about the whole name thing on Guru.... any mods/admins want to tell me why we can't show their names here? (Out of curiosity)

It has got to the point where most of the people playing on luxon are leechers. This means anyone who wants a game, will no doubt enter with at least 2 and more probably 5 leechers;
Hence they will not more play games after this. Means the next person to come along to play FA will be put off in a similar way, the leechers stay but any normal players have left.
It can only continue currently if there was a huge influx to the luxon side at the same time, meaning the leechers are spread through groups.
Are these leechers not classed as bots also? They are just 'simple' bots clicking the enter button place every 10 secs or so (or randomized to put off sense of bot)).

In Thursday's update it stated
"Warning we will be actively watching all areas of PVP for leeching and botting over the next few weeks we will be punishing and banning as needed. You have been warned."
Oh yeah it was in there cryptic.... but if you take the first vowel and 3 and 6 consonant of every 3rd sentence adding every other 3rd letter of a new paragraph you get the above warning.

Agreed. The problem with leechers is that its a self fulfilling prophecy. Enter a match with like 2 leech, and pretty much can't win if the other team is decent, which means there won't be any meaningful faction. Which means people are stuck with vanquishing, or afk leech along with the other leechers....the smart ones probably go for leeching rather than frustrate/bore themselves to death vanquishing.

Don't expect anything more than a slap on the wrist. With the exception of Final Fantasy, no MMO even bans people for gold buying (they all try to make it sound as if they do, but they actually don't).

The problem is the stupid reporting system and how YOU get dishonor points against YOU if you report someone in FA and the rest of your team doesn't.

though i agree that it seems to be against the luxons these days, "no longer balanced" is absolutely wrong. For the 1st couple years the odds were stacked pretty decidedly in the Luxon's favor. ive said it before and ill say it again: the kurz have payed our dues, now its the lux turn.
*it seems like there have been alot of complaints about FA and JQ being unbalanced against the luxons ever since the update. if i remember right i rarely if ever saw the kurz complaining. is it just me or are the luxons a bunch of whiners? (no offense) :P

Fair would be actual balance, not vengeance.
Also, you are shooting yourself in the foot. Luxons would actually play FA and not force you to wait 10 years to enter match if they had a fair chance at winning.
The heal sig buff was noticeable, the luxon warrior idiots tend to survive against the ele NPCs now. They still do next to nothing when pushing into the green gate though.
The only small JQ imbalance (which applies in some degree to FA) is that luxons generally get more leechers due to the smaller number of players. Not only do the leechers get faster games due to no wait times, when the number of luxon players is small, they can make up half the entering party- because a leech "plays" 24/7 while other players come and go.
Still the win/loss ratio in JQ feels about even to me, mostly determined by how many RoJ monks there are. >_> So I'll keep going there instead of wasting time in FA.

I would also like to note that the Kurzick/Luxon title track is not the only cause of leechers in FA/JQ.
You see r12's leeching because of their Alliance owning towns.
They either leech to fulfill their daily quota, leech to get paid (if you are in such a guild) to donate, or leech just because it's effortless faction gain (no need to VQ or actually fight when you get it for free and otherwise waste your time).
If Anet took away the reason for leeching (Amber/Jade, Zkeys, titles, etc...) they would probably kill the activity of those arenas too.
