So are you saying because it is a game, there no way you can annoy your fellow players OR are you saying because it is game, it is OK to annoy your fellow players?
The first would be false because this is a co-operative game, there are many ways to be annoying.
The second would show what kind of person you are.
The biggest difference between game and real life is, in the game you can usually get away with it for lesser consequences than in real life. If you are annoying in town, in real life, you get beaten up or thrown in jail. In the game, you can get away with it. But does that mean we should all be as annoying as possible simply because we can get away with it?

I have to agree this does need to be fixed. As for now I am happy just to report these idiots for spamming.

No, I think that is a rediculous idea. It's not that big of a deal.

Still comparing game to real life. Still fails, always. If I was to use the argument against it that people are using here (turn off your sound)....I can simply say "cover your ears...problem solved", about the person that's yelling.
And don't get me wrong. I agree that the tonics should be stfu. It's the comparing a loud yeti in a game to a real life crime that is stupid.

Neither. The point is that it's something that Anet implemented themselves. There are many other ways to annoy people in game (/rank. /zrank, dancing naked on someone). Yes, there are ways to annoy, no it's not ok....BUT...it won't ever stop. Some people...are...annoying. Anet implemented it...anet can fix it...just like they did with minipets. ALl they have to do is remove the sounds, or make the sounds play ONLY for the person using the tonic. OR, for now, you can sacrifice ALL your sounds to end it (though this seems stupid to me).

Nope. It certainly doesn't mean that. But some people will be, because they like to be.
My argument was not against ending tonic sounds. It was against comparing a game to real life.

You still dont get it do you?
What gives them the right to force us to turn off our PC speakers or drive us out of the district?
The game should encourage people to be considerate and not spam. Not making spammers more effective and annoying, forcing the rest of us to have to accomodate them if we want to play the game.

Um...I think YOU'RE the one that doesn't get it. I AGREE that it's stupid that we have to turn off our sounds, and that they should somehow end it. I even gave a suggestion how to do it in the first post I made here... >_>
What I thought was stupid, was changing that guy's quotes to fit (even though they didn't really fit) situations that didn't even apply to this topic, and comparing game issues to crimes.

Playing a game doesn't mean you have stopped living in the real world. You are still sitting down in front of your PC and existing in the real world, so dont be fooled into thinking otherwise. But that discussion is OT.

Uh...everything is happening in real world even though the VR tries to fool you into thinking otherwise. If you use the computer, as a tool, to be rude and annoying to people on the Internet, then you are actually being rude and annoying while living within the real world.
And as for your argument on crimes, you can still find many annoying things that you can do without resorting to crimes even in the real world. Are you saying it is ok to be annoying as long as it is not a crime to do so?
You can use your computer as a tool to annoy people on internet. You can also use your phone as a tool to call up and annoy people listed on the phonebook too. Either way, is still bad. If ANet can prevent this Yeti exploit with a simple fix, then they should.

Ohhhh. There are some replies where people suggest banning players through reporting them for spamming, so I immediately misread the OP. I dont agree with that approach. Anet could certainly change the way the sound works or they could simply remove it. Sure. I havent any problem with that.
Temporary solution is just to turn off sounds in town within one's Options. Really only applies to a few towns. Its something Anet need to look at in the long run in terms of Options settings for GW2. It would be nice to be able to turn off player initiated sounds while still having others on.

The sound-effects plays a large role in battlefield awareness. Hearing key skills is important while playing in PvP (yeah, even when you're on Vent).

About comparing game to real-life. It it certainly an exaggeration but it can be done into a valid argument nevertheless. When in a game, you're still communicating with other human beings, so their rights don't stop there. Some people forget that and just hide behind their screens.

They are not forcing you to turn off your speakers or to leave the district. It is you that is choosing to hit that power button or click on a different district.
People should not be banned for using Yeti sounds. That is ridiculous. Make it so they can only use it once every "X" minutes. Restrict the number of Yeti Tonics that can be used in a district. Preventive measures is a much more sound and sensible way to handle this. Banning players for making redundant sounds is just spiteful.

I shall come as close as I can to you, then shout at the top of my lungs, preferably in your ears. I'm not forcing you to leave, cover your ears or anything, it's you who chose to do whatever you want.
I'm also doing it only cause you're being annoyed. Try going deaf or stop being so annoyed, then I will probably stop shouting.
Not suggesting to ban users, but "banning" sounds. Although I have nothing against reporting yeti sound-abusers while the feature isn't implemented.

If you don't play with sounds, you're bad at the game. It's easier to hear an aegis go off than see the animation or someone casting it at times, etc..
Forget GW music, but skill sounds are key, and Yeti just happens to be under a sound that also are part of skill sounds.

Minipets do not make sounds in towns. And when they do outside, it's random.
Tonics make sounds in towns, and they're "spammable". That's annoying.
/signed for removing spammable sounds from tonics.

Well, maybe you need sound; however, those in PvE or low levels of PvP have no need for it. If you're in HA or GvG fine, but that's not the majority of GW players, so I don't find it necessary.

Can't this be made into a poll so we don't have to read every post to know how we all feel on it. Personally I'm getting sick of switching districts every time a Yeti appears when I'm trying to sell things in peace. Plus I don't think I should have to change my audio settings just because of an annoying as hell tonic.
