After all, there are very few builds which use entirely pet skills, and rangers aren't that effective with one.
I reckon the skill update for May was originally going to be some general balance update, until it possibly got delayed primarily to buff pet skills into use - perfect timing to bring pets into the game fully, and allow other professions to run full-pet builds if they want to. Well, I can dream...
I just think it's bizarre adding such a big thing to the game without making the part of the game it's based on more useful. At the moment it's equivalent to having a new area added to show off smiting prayers or blood magic, two niche skill-lines.

I think ti would be more interesting if you could store pets there, so you didn't have to get rid of pets you trained.

Looking at the video it is a lovely area they designed. I don't use pets, but I will have fun collecting the animals to fill my "zoo". I know a pet NPC or stable was a highly requested feature. Didn't expect to get a sweet island to let em run around on though.

WTB x/R builds for all professions
I've already capped a pet on each of my heroes and am currently running around leveling them. Theres just a few pets that I will have to get on another character. Couple heroes short of all the pets.

Soon we see a PvP Mo/R with Ray of Judgement and a Rainbow Phoenix going for JQ.

That ox pen is against the side of a mountain. In the screenshot, it's clearly out in the open. The props are obvious recycles, but it's the Zaishen, it's supposed to be Factions-themed. The terrain, though, is definitely not a simple cut-paste.

Pet buffs would be interesting, I'd like to see that. My necromancer has a build for commanding a trio of discord heroes, and she's got a pet on the bar just for fun (great dwarf weapon is neat here). It'd be nice to see the pet become even more useful.
I've often wanted to try to get a more "prestigious" pet for my ranger, but I don't because he's too attached to that original Melandru Stalker he charmed in pre. It would be cool to grab some other pets without loosing him.

Isn't like... every PvE update about stuff just for show?
Let PvP rangers (who have bitched about being stuck with the wolf forever) have their day.

And let us have pets in outposts.
Go go epileptic seizure Kamadan Am1 full of ninja monks with shiny gloves and Rainbow Phoenixes!
And yes, pet armor would be most welcomed too. I mean - heroes get several sets, don't they?

I kept the warthog mine got in pre-searing oh so long ago. Getting other pets without giving up Pork Chop would be nice.

So the idea is that you charm a pet, get it to level20 then stick it in the menagerie. Then charm another pet yada yada yada.
Each time you do this, it unlocks the pet?
So, I think this must also be for PvP - unlocking something other than an Elder Wolf to use in PvP. Might be nice to get my R/P packhunters something a little more exotic for HB.

I really doubt they will model anything new for it. Just take existing models, sandbox some terrain and slap all the stuff onto it.
They made all the dungeons from the same basis for example as well..

Wait, where does it say that this is a pet storage? I thought it was just for unlocking pets for pvp.

They took parts of the Canthan area Haiju Lagoon and/or Panijang Peninsula, Factions starter areas.
But it seems they are not copied 1:1, they mixed and matched better than in the too obviously copied dungeon areas in EOTN.

It is, but from what I can gather the pets you unlock will be wandering free (well, in paddocks)in this explorable area. I assume this means you will be able to charm them.

This area is probably going to be the training ground for pets. It will probably be similar to hero tutorials where you learn basic commands to control them. I remember Anet talking about making pet controls similar to heroes, so this area could be it.
