As always, post on topic or don't post. Mention what you like or don't like about the suggestion. Pissing and moaning about the store/whatever isn't needed.

protip: if you are asked to verify your birthday, you have the wrong account name.
if you entered the right account name, it will ask you 2 security questions you set up when you originally created the account, and a security image.

I wonder if this route was taken to reduce the need for the developers to have hands on this storage upgrade. Essentially we are doing the unlock on it versus ANET having to do the unlock. Most cost effective way for them to give us free storage? May be way off here perhaps someone with the know how could enlighten me.

I did the forgot password route( I had my acct names) and both times it asked me for my bday and security image, then it took me to my password hint.

ArenaNet most likely decided to put it in the online store to promote the use of it. It's quite an understandable decision and you do not need paypal nor a credit card for the free pane. Fair enough if you ask me.

/signed for this. I'm not happy being in a situation where I'm beginning to feel like I'm going to miss out on a free storage pane (which will sit there being blanked out forever to taunt me!) because NCSoft support is undoubtedly overwhelmed by the sheer number of support requests now.

My situation too. If Anet would have offered us this storage as a gift, they would've just GIVen it to us, instead of us going through some account most of us didn't even realise we had.

Ironic is.. if NCSoft did this in hopes to promote their new website and in hopes of people spending $$$, it brought their servers to their knees and they ended up having to upgrade them. Now they're fast and can cope with further promotions like this, but in between they're just costing a lot of extra $$$.

Since getting the free storage pane requires your plaync account and so does using the store, this would seem to be a really good way of resolving this problem.

as far as point one goes, i did not forget my user name. sadly, (and i know it's horrible security wise) my user name happens to be my guildwars login. i have the problem that the user name that ncsoft's own support tells me is my bloody user name does not fit in the box they supply for it.

having contacted what passes for support from NCsoft, they now seem to be of the opinion that i am not me. not possesing my cd keys any longer (4 moves, and many packing/unpackings later) i don't appear to have anything they will accept to prove i am myself. i imagine i'm not the only one in this boat....

any tips on how i can *maybe* get my "free promotional pane" before i'm out of time are welcome. i've been chasing back and forth with support for a redengine month now...
