Can someone PM me the fastest way to do the last part? (Everything from the loop)
I got my start + everything up there pretty much down. (I reach the gate at 17.5 seconds average, with a best of 16.5/17 ish)
Biggest bottleneck for me is the loop and the last part. I can't seem to figure out those last 3 gates. I've read that these top people manage to keep a 50-60%+ RRPM at all times, but I always drop to 20% ish straight after the second-last gate. (Right before the huge hill upwards)
Someone please PM/post a picture of how you do the last part? (Everything past the loop) (Someone with past top 100 experience please... -I need something that works xD)
Best score up till now is 469.7K this time, and about 473K last canthan new year...

People aren't racing the game to get top scores; they're doing it to kill others and get their precious 7 victory tokens.
Anet should split the game into 2 modes - one where the number of 1st place finishes is rewarded and one where the top times are rewarded.

Umm... no
People who use rollerbettle blast on the guy in the lead is actually SMART (because they want to make sure they get to the finish before the 30 seconds are up). Its when people are stupid and attack each other and let one guy get way ahead that top 100 times are made. Is it fair? No. It is somewhat random.
But I can't believe people are complaing about a multiplayer racing event having their times ruined because other players wanted to win too. How dare they.

The lag is not worse for me than earlier events, there are periods of time when playing is hard because of a 300+ ping but most of the time it has been alright to me. KD also doesn't annoy me as much as others, only between the start and the first checkpoint you have to just pray someone doesn't KD you with ram. But I'm fine with that actually, what really bothers me is the constant rollbacks because of physical contact with other beetles. This is not relevant when you're way ahead of the rest, but it is especially at the start when it's crowded with beetles. Would have been nice if beetles could just be like 'ghosts' to each other, like in Trackmania for example where you can not bump and crash into others and can just phase through them.

I dont care about event games anymore after getting my Numchuck Skillz.
Thats just my favorite title name out of the whole skillz title track, and Im keeping it for the rest of GW.
I did want a mini beetle, but I already have a full miniature monument so dont care now.
I just need 2 more ascended armors to fill up my armor monument now.

Past the loop? you mean the 2 bridges making a spiral? To pass this with full RPMs you need an SRB imo.. Hit it right after the checkpoint, dash while going around the beach, ram just before the 6th checkpoint. Watch your rpms, hit dash again, ram just on the hill before the 7th checkpoint. You should always be rolling with at least 95% full RPMs this way
If you have no SRB its harder I think . I try keep my dash to use right after the bridges, helps pass thru the beach faster . Echoing dash also helps ofc
Thats my observations at least

I was also wondering about this. Do they just appear in your inventory or do you have to get them from some npc in the game?
Thanks for the help!

As I said previously in this thread, there are no rollerbeetle prizes for the birthday event.
Rollerbeetle mini pets are only handed out at the Canthan New year event.
I've now managed two top 100 times. One at this event where I finished around 90th on the table, and once at the second birthday event where I finished about 40th, but I have never managed a top 100 during the Canthan New Year, so no mini for me <sulk>
On the plus side, I made Rank 4 gamer this event, and got about 2500 victory tokens and 5 zaishen keys.
I also had some great races and raced against most of the top players over the course of the event.
One day that mini beetle will be mine LOL

Ohh, but maybe you get something cool from the mini beetle being displayed in HoM in GW2 xD?
That's my motivation to buy pets anyway. Plus I just like to collect them.
Actually, if we just received rewards because we have "25 pets dedicated" rather than "mini greased lightning dedicated", then it would be pretty much pointless to dedicate all those rare pets, apart from seeing it in your HoM again. But that's something we won't find out till later and thus people will keep dedicating.
On Topic: I'm not motivated to roller-beetle if there's no mini prize, even though I never make it in top 100.

QFT.
There seems to be a general mindset in the arena that if you have a KD, or if you're close to another person and have Ram, you'd better spam that button with fingers of fury. That won't be any way to guarantee a win, it won't get you the fastest times, and it won't make very many racers happy to see you, making you somewhat of a target for their hate every time you come to face them.
My strategy: Play like you're going for a record, every time. Eventually you'll get the chance. If that can't be done, it's usually the racer that gets the best start that will win, because many racers will just give up on attacking the person in first, or the person in front will be able to get power-ups ahead of time enough to not need to worry so much about other racers. Don't show your whole hand; save KDs and Lunges for around the last couple checkpoints when you see an opening and your opponent may not expect anything.

You have to speak to the NPC, then he will ask you if you want your prize. Answer "yes"n and the npc will give you the Greased Lightning.

Not true at all. I've been 25% of the time in the last spot before the first gate, due to kd'd, even when trying to drive clear of the other players, and would still finish first half of the time (rough estimate of course). The fact is that a ram or dash used at the wrong spot during each part of the map will slow you down considerably, so you'll quickly loose your advantage (unless you're targetting the same player, which is the most stupid and annoying thing to do...). KD stops you for .5s (?) but doesn't remove your RRPMs (not completely?)
But I completely agree with you on playing for racing. Keep calm despite all the "kill-players" slowing you down and eventually the "race-player" gets a good score. (I wish I would have had more time to try this week )

If you're failing the spiral and beach, you failed earlier in the run. If you're doing things right, and you got the right powerups, you should be 100% RRPM entering the gate before the spiral.
For a top time, you should be 100% RRPM or very near for the entire run. Only exceptions are before the first gate and on the beach when you use Dash; at those times you should be 75% or so.
