no click to move in GW2
.
Just wondering what folks think of the mouse 'click to move' is something people like and prefer to..? wasd?
The control system is going to be significantly changed (in particular mouse movement in the form "click to move" will be removed from the game

I enjoy click to move. I think it's nice to essentially be able to play with only one hand, and even nicer that the game isn't completely built around it(*ala Black and White), so if you would rather wasd it up - no problem.
Myself. I switch back and forth, depending on what I'm doing - both in game and out.

I hate using the mouse to move, and always use the WASD keys.
Which is strange, because before getting into GW, I never used the WASD keys.

I prefer click, especially in PvP. Found that I rubberband much less frequently when clicking as opposed to WASD. It also comes in handy when trying certain things, especially when playing warrior.

Click to move should go die.
Having two different movement systems, one of which has known advantages in coping with server latency, is fail.
Glad to see that we're going WASD with the new game. Click to move is archaic; the 3-D revolution outmoded it.

What most people don't realise is that click movement is way more reliable than wsad. It's a lot easier to dodge projectiles and if you don't use click movement in PvP you're missing out on something. It takes some time to get used to but man was it worth it. Atm I never use wsad, unbinded them. This is my setup:
qwerasdf - target ally 1-8
x - target self
mouse - movement (obviously)
space - my go-do-it herp derp button
I disabled attack on click so my character does not run up to someone as soon as I click him, if i want to do that I either have to double click or press my herp derp button.

Believe me, I haven't used Click to Move in months, its better without it, much more ease of navigation with WASD + Mouse right click to turn and strafe, OR you can hold down left and right buttons on mouse to move forward and turn lol.
Also I'm not denying the use of click to move, just IMO for myself its better not to use it, I used to use it a lot. But its all about what you wanna use (for GW1) but being forced not to use it in GW2 Won't bother me.

Too many games feature click to move, I just can't picture it being any good without it.

looks like people are forgetting the Q and E keys move as well. In PvP click to move due to all the rubberbandding I get when i use WSAD but PvE I use wsad.

I'd really like the option to do both. It seems obvious to me that the more options, the better, to suit people's preferences either way. Personally I like the run key and mouse, because holding down the forward key during 75% of gameplay is a fast track to carpal tunnel.

So it seems none of you have every played laggy PvP?
Or any PvP?
If there was no click to move, the skill level in GvGs would be far lower than what it is now. Clicking to move when there is heavy lag allows you to move through the map without rubberbanding, as keyboard movement has a delay between you and the server (hello there rubberbanding).
That, and click to move means you can use the keyboard for skills and weapon switching and such.

Changed by setup about a week ago to click to move + QWERASDF = skills 1-8.
I've noticed, even in this short time I've changed my layout, that I'm performing extremely more effectively, being able to "twitch" skills at a moments notice, and always moving at 100% speed in all directions is really nice =)

If there's no click to move there better be none of this sickeningly excessive rubber banding there is in Guild Wars now.

Pretty much but not only that, I just can't fathom PvP in a 3d world with no click to move, combat functionality would probably seem clunky. I don't know if anyone here has tried Warhammer AOR, but that's some clunky, unconnected combat.

Strange that for a game set hundreds of years in the future, they are planning on a UI hundreds of years in the past. wasd is just stupid and inept.
UI conforming to sinclair spectrum standards? No thanks.

I only use click to move in towns cause it's easier and gives my fingers a break. When fighting I always use wasd, but I still use the right mouse button to adjust the camera constantly.
It'd be nice to have it in gw2; but as long as there will be an autorun function I really could care less.

gw2 needs natal support, so we can jump about in front of the tv, wave our arms about to attack and jump out of the way of projectiles.
casting would be handled by voice commands
no not rly
