You have 720 hours to predict and you try to do it in the last four hours.
Yes, i'm hyperboling but my point is the same.

Why would anyone predict 720hours before the mat?

Apparently, you need a lesson: the "last minute" expression doesn't denote litteraly minutes before the end, but the relative closeness to a deadline. As said above, you could have voted 24h before the XTH deadline without any different, and you wouldn't have had the problem.

Didn't know you had so much trouble understanding English. Hate? Where do you see hate? I'm simply saying that it's ridiculous to buy GW accounts solely for the purpose of the XTH.

I voted on Wednesday and I didn't see of the major guilds that weren't qualified. Can you name a major guild that only qualified during the last 24 hours?

It is clear that some posters in this thread has no RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing idea about what service delivery is about.
If a service is offered, it must work. Bottom line.
Why the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO should you, as the client, have to vote early or compensate in any way or form because the people you are TRUSTING to supply you with this service - which they created - have failed. (Yes, I know, joke's on me for trusting ANET, I should have known better).
Just a retard would think like that and I suspect these same posters which say you should vote earlier to compensate for ANET failing, must probably still grow up and earn their own money and realise what the real-world is actually like.
All I know is that if one of my companies services failed so miserably like what happened yesterday with XTH, and it happens to be a service I am responsible for, then I would be in serious and very deep shit right about now.

Yeah except you didn't pay for XTH, they added it onto the game free of charge to please people.
Free stuff usually isn't as good as stuff you pay for, especially when it's overloaded by people looking for freebies.

Hilarious. GW, and in particular XTH, is very real-world. There's a serious lack of arguments with people in this thread who will/may not get their free zkeys!

If you vote early with crude votes, you can still refine them later. You are not forbidden to re-vote, you know.
Voting Week before deadline means that you have made certain that you get at least some RPs. if you can not vote in in fast minute.
And last minute votes can be prevented by lots of things related to RL and having life (computer breakdown, connection troubles at isp, power failure, having social life and attending party/having sex... ).
So, regardless of xth status, votling in last minute is just plain dumb for reasons anet can not fix ever.

Reading some of the arguments in this thread makes my brain feel like it just got punched in the nuts. "You're not raging about this? You had the common sense to vote the night before, with a new system up and knowing there's always a zerg rush during final few hours? YOU MUST NOT MAKE YOUR OWN MONEY, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE REAL WORLD IS LIKE OMGZ!"

As I feared, this thread has degenerated into people who did manage to vote mocking those who didn't. I'm tempted to close it, but let me first make this argument.
Regardless of whether we should leave voting to the last minute or not, the XTH has never had server load problems before, even in the last few hours when many people make their predictions. Thus we had no reason to expect it to be down for 6 hours (or more, I wasn't awake) this month. What if the XTH had been down for a whole day or more? Then those of you who voted the day before wouldn't have been able to either, and would be just as ticked off as us. We don't know if the load problems were caused by the amount of people accessing it, but if they were, this is going to happen next month, and people will complain again. ANet's attempt to improve the XTH has seriously failed if we have to accept that we won't be able to vote in the last few hours, potentially missing some key picks that qualify late.

Then just vote earlier.
You can't expect to leave the house during the middle of rush hour and drive to work on time.

Valid points Symeon, of course people are going to say vote earlier than a day before.
I would say this is probably a one time occurance, the new system got its first test under stressed conditions and it apparently choked, so let's assume that Anet will remedy this (despite what support has said) for the next round..
For next month, I would probably vote a few days early, and then come back a few hours before it closes to check for last minute qualifiers. That way you know you have at least a set of votes in. So you might have to re-vote next month if that's the case, but you saw what happened this month, so best to avoid it again by going in early.

Voting at the last minute is almost as stupid as using the online store at the start of a weekend before a bank holiday monday.

It's a free service?
I am pretty sure they spent time creating it because they knew they would get money off it somehow (people buying more accounts to put more votes down, earn more keys = money etc) or even if they already did make money from what they were offering in the in-game store, they will now just get more $$$ or get more interest into the game. That's what value-added services are all about.
Have a look-see at all the different and additional items in the in-game store you can buy. I am also pretty sure I paid for pretty much anything they decided to develop and release to the players with all my char slots and campaigns I bought... and and and. The same for everybody else.
So, stop this BS talk of 'free'. It is paid for. Everyone paid for it. ANet is not stupid to create something for 'free'. That's not how a business works. ANET knows full well whether they can make money off this service or they already made money and therefore created the service, to the benefit of their loyal active players who are still supporting the game. No doubt.
Also, I have a right to complain. People saying anything else, like find something else or find a new hobby, they are simply failing to see what keeps a game (i.e. business) going and that it is in any company's best interest to keep their client base happy. Without them you are nothing and have nothing, i.e. doomed.
It is a value-added service after all, so it must add value to a player's experience. And, if it is so free (yes, in the sense they are not charging for it), it still does not mean it must be unstable and it does not excuse it for being problematic. That's not professional at all. I dare say even ANet will agree with this statement.

It's all about bringing a fresh angle to an worn game to keep the in-game player population up.
If you give everything the right twist, nothing is free in life and then you are being a downer and no one likes downers.

i can see both points. i usually make my predictions the day before then change them when i get names from a advid gvg friend. and 9/10 some of the names he gives me arent even listed the day i had first made my predictions! so i can why some peeps are mad they cant make theirs. like during the free pane anet should have realized the slowness as one of the bad things that can happend.
