Dilemma
Hi, I am new to the forums. I'm not really a chatty type and often avoid posting unless necessary.
I have a dilemma atm that I am unsure as what to do about.
Here's a quick run down:
On Sunday, I met a fellow and was invited to the guild he was an officer in. On Monday, he promoted me to an officer, but the guild owner demoted me and an arguement apparently ensued. The owner re-promoted me, but the fellow that invited me left anyway. All that happened before I ever logged on Monday evening. (and for the record, I really don't care about being an officer in a guild and have gone through the entire Prophesies storyline just fine without any guild at all)
To continue...
When I logged on yesterday evening, I got a pm from this fellow saying that he had left the guild and now had his own guild and wanted me to be a member. So, I leave the first guild and get invited. He confides in me in pm's that he "stole" the guild from it's original founder. He had somehow talked the guild owner into making him owner for three day's and the owner became an officer. But, as soon as the original founder logged out, this fellow kicked him and ALL of the original members, including the officer who had invited him in the first place, and started inviting new members. I stayed in the guild long enough to check the guild stat's and see all of his activities until he logged off, then I left the guild and put him on my ignore list.
What should I do? I feel bad for the original founder of the guild and all of his friends. This was wrong on every level possible.
Advise please!

How very nice of you... >_>
It may be a game, but there are rules and codes of conduct. I just don't know where this fit's in.

The closest thing to a code of conduct in GW is to be an asshole.
PUGs do it. Guilds do it. PvPers do it. PvE elitists do it. PvP elitists do it. Scrubs of both kind do it. Everyone does it.

I wouldn't put too much thought into this as everyone has to deal with the idiocy of the immature crowds. Sounds like you barely know these people so it shouldn't affect you anyway. If you're fine going solo, go solo. If you want to join guilds, check recruitment posts, ask a friend you've frequently played with.
Being an officer doesn't mean much other than invites and starting GvGs. Some guilds have no members because everyone's an officer, other than leader.

Wow, speaking of...
Anyway, a tough decision for someone new. Choices are to get involved or not. Getting involved would be a lot of work on your part and, most likely, hurt feelings, with some form of anger turned toward you. Unless you're up for the challenge, I'd just say that you've decided to move on and either remain solo or, as one of the other posters suggests, look for a different guild.

Just do whatever you want, but I wouldn't trust that kind of guy in my guild really. Next thing you know he could be scamming you for w/e he wants from you. My suggestion is go to another, bigger guild where it has had some history for a while.

Amen. This is the exact reason I use heroes. I have played over 4 years and am so sick of the A holes I have enough time built up to be a licensed Proctologist.

He left the original guild and then scammed the ownership off a different guild.
@Op You did nothing wrong and its not your place to fix anything. You befriended some random guy, turns out he's an @sshat and you distanced yourself from him as fast as you could. If you have screenshots of your convos with him about stealing the guild, you could report it to Anet. Otherwise, this is of end of it, just move on.

You answered your own question. Get out asap. The guy's awful, you can see that for yourself.

Well it was the guild leader's fault for adding him as leader for 3 days.
Never let someone leader unless you know them well. Like your closest friend you see at work/school everyday.

Well, thanks to those of you who gave positive responses to this. I am going to just let it go since I don't have any kind of screenshots of the conversation to prove it. My screenshots in this game come out with the bottom third of the image blurred out. Don't know why. And I didn't have Fraps running at the time.
Just so all you decent folks know, the guys character name (the one he is or was using) is L**d U****a, a necromancer. He's staying on my ignore list and my advice is to stay away from him. The name of the guild he stole is "Eternities End [EE]".

Just get his name out and what he did, If you got screenshots of the conversations then you can post them so everyone knows his name.

No name dropping on Guru.
As for your problem OP, walk away. Not your duty or anything, if you feel bad for the Leader guy, PM him the screenshots and explain what you saw. If it bothers you that much anyway.

Needs more drama, maybe you could have him sell the guild, then you report him for stealing the guild and selling it, rejoin the guild once the original owner gets it back and then take it from him in the same way and sell it yourself.
