We all know that people are going to move to Guild Wars 2. The only incentive that there is to buy GW1 any chapter + GW:EN is that of a "Transference" of "Something" "Maybe Good" to the GW2.

It will be interesting to be a Charr toon so as you can guess. BRING IT ON gw2 that is...

No. Anet lost me as a customer by halfway abandoning GW1. I've been bored to tears for some time, so I moved on to less boring games.

The fundamental problem with Guild Wars is that they no longer have a coherent vision of what the game should be, at least it seems that way. This happened gradually with the PvP -> PvE focus, and now the higher end gvg has stagnated because there is no direction for the game. This is why I want to give Guild Wars 2 a try before I buy it.

Also, I won't be purchasing any cars made in 2021, and I've already decided that everything on the fall TV schedule for 2014 is going to suck.

My life has gotten much easier since I started making all my buying decisions based on unjustifiable judgment calls regarding products that won't exist for some time.

I have a better topic: will you be posting in the next unrelentingly pointless thread about Guild Wars 2 buying habits that is created, potentially, years before the product's release? Please, c'mon. Somebody post this thread again. We didn't get enough irrational feedback in the last two dozen threads about this exact same topic.

I think anet should've focused on more campaigns for GW1. It's quite a risk they're taking.

Well, yes. Would you all like a little cheese with that wine? I'v enjoyed playing for 3 years. I think there are a lot of things that would make my time more enjoyable but by far I'm happy.

Yeah, but they had no choice. Unlike The Other Big MMORPG Company(tm) ArenaNet and NCSoft are not bathing in more money than they know what to do with, and had to concentrate all their resources on their next project. GW2 may cost as much as $100M to develop - that may be just 20 days subscription fees for Blizzard, but it's 2 years of revenue for NCSoft and ANet.

I also suspect the longevity of Guildwars surprised ANet and NCSoft, they probably didn't expect it to still be going as strong as it is; at least that's my take on why they're now moving a designer and a programmer back to working full time with GW1.

Yes, I want some cheese with it and I'll pay for it too, but there's nothing left on the menu. It has been a good game for me too but it's been a year since the last expansion, which wasn't as big as previous campaigns and after this year there is nothing yet that we can look forward to.
Yes they are supposedly working on GW2 but there is no indication whatsoever about when we can expect this except this: 2009/2010

It seems to me that Anet simply doesn't have the manpower to deliver what they need to to maintain their fan base properly and they are leaving an enormous amount depend on luck and goodwill for GW2.

Funny thing is, when I will start playing a game like say Aion and I end up loving it, I won't be able to care less anymore about what I put together in my HoM. It was a great idea at the time but it's all taking too long for the next step. The funny thing about getting bored is that it also brings apathy.

People who are upset about this all are basically struggling with their last strands of care about this game before they completely give up on it and simply no longer care. I recognise myself in this completely. I am only playing at the moment to fill the gap till a few other games come out and then I'm gone. So come November, that's it basically.

And really, any business has to deal with continuity. From where I'm sitting Anet's got some problems there.

Uhmm just to clarify, even though Anet falls under NcSoft they are not as such one and the same. NcSoft is behind Lineage and also behind the upcoming Aion Online game, in which they were able to invest quite a lot. If anything Aion may be one of the biggest competitors for GW and thus for Anet. I'm sure that if for example GW2 doesn't do well because everybody is playing Aion, NcSoft won't lose any sleep over it...Anet however probably will...

If it has titles, I might look elsewhere, don't get me wrong, I do grind for titles atm, but I'll be honest, theres nothing fun about it, it's all just for show

So if GW2 is the same as that, then I'll be looking for a new game of that year

Not everyone has played the game ad nauseum. I am rather new, and have only recently attained 20th level. There's still much for me to do and I'm sure there are many others like me out there.

After being a part of the Age of Conan launch, I would like to say that
I will not play an MMO at startup again, although I know that Champions Online will be a mighty temptation.

I honestly don't know... the longer I wait the less interested I get. Plus with all the new games coming down the pipe, why should I care about GW2 until the beta?

Well, I have never seen their pay slips so I can't comment on that. But game companies cut of smaller studios under them constantly. I am pretty sure that if Anet proves their worth they will be kept, and if GW2 fails they will be cut out from NcSoft. I am sure NcSoft will want Anet to succeed but then if they can make Aion the next biggest thing after WoW at the cost of GW2 (not saying it will but for argument's sake) then I am sure business will be business and they won't think twice about it.

At a panel meeting at PAX on Business Models the NCSoft rep was pretty high on Guild Wars (and even casually referred to GW6 while making a point). Aion is a different business model more similar to what is seen in Asian, now, which is why I think it has a similar look to the MMOs that you see there. I'll talk more about NCSoft and ArenaNet in my next piece on Chris Lye, their Marketing Director.

Or they didn't expect GW2 to be in development so long.
