The man made good music, but I'm sorry he is not a role model. The man did not make the world a safer place to live in. He didn't cure cancer, solve world hunger, end wars across the world, etc. All he did was make music and have a very questionable social life.
That isn't something Anet should dedicate a tribute to. If you want to pay homage to the man, listen to his music, dance with your female Necro in your guildhall. Don't organize a large gathering of people to pay homage for an extremely controversial man who didn't really do anything. It doesn't make much sense.

I pretty much 100% agree. I will never understand how someone with so mucn contreversy about his behaviour around children can be so popular. There's no smoke without fire.

He was a record-breaker by means of sales, able to reach out to people of all races and cultures, and his ballad-style music was revolutionary at the time. I suggest you do some research on a man that apparently "really didn't do anything". He didn't cure cancer; so what? Why are people whose arts are in museums allowed to be heralded?
I don't think there's anything wrong with Siadina wanting to have a tribute for Michael Jackson. Whether the man was controversial, not a firefighter or soldier, AIDS-curer, or a role model doesn't matter--it is obvious that he and his music touched her in a way that means so much to her that she wishes to say thanks (by means of a tribute). Just because she chose to honor Michael instead of a policeman doesn't mean she has "warped priorities" and anyone who says that is warped themselves. People pay homage to others all the time. Should we not celebrate the life of our grandmother (for example) if she didn't cure HIV?
And she didn't say that she wished ArenaNET to do a tribute. She said she wanted to start something simple up herself (like dancing Necros in LA) and have people join in if they wished to. I see nothing wrong with that.

^ couldn't have said it better myself.
seriously, who hasn't stood in front of the mirror and tried to moonwalk??
i think this is an awesome idea.

He wanted A.nets help in setting up a tribute. therefore A.net would sponsor the tribute.
If a company is going to sponsor a tribute for a person, that person damn well better have deserved it. By setting up a tribute for one man over another, you are stating that that man's life was far more important than the other persons. So yes, you have to cure AIDS or defend your country to have a tribute in your honor. You have to save lives or make the world a safer place to live in in order to earn a tribute in your honor. Making people want to dance didn't make the world a safer place. all it did was entertain people. That isn't something that warrants a company to sponsor a tribute toward him. He isn't any more important than Farrah or Billy. All three of them entertained people in some way. None of them made the world a safer place to live in.
Now if he wants to set it up himself or if someone outside of anet is what he is looking for to help him, go for it. You can tribute whoever you want to. Hell go throw a tribute for your grandma if you want to. I'm only arguing that if a company was to get involved MJ isn't an ideal person to be giving a tribute to.

You could always spam what you want to do and see if anyone turns up. Talk to you guild leader see if you can get a bunch of guildies to join the more the better. One thing about people they like to follow so the more you get the more followers will appear.

Farrah Fawcett died and went to heaven. There God spoke to her and said, "Farrah, you have lived a good life and earned a boon from Me. You may make any request of Me before you enter the afterlife."
Farrah though about it for a bit and finally said, "I wish that all of the children of the world would be safe."

Funniest one I heard was:
Quote:
What's the difference between Michael Jackson and Alex Ferguson?
Alex Ferguson will still be playing Giggs in August.

On topic though I have no issue with what the OP wants to do, I just don't see why Anet needs to have anything to do with your personal tribute. Next thing we know, if it was upto half of these people, we'll be having a MJ day with glove consumables dropping that make you grab your crotch and dance like Michael Jackson for 30 minutes while in an outpost while screaming "Eeh hee!".
Just post in the community events section to get interest from others who are interested in doing this with you.

Funniest MJ joke i heard was:
Quote:
Rumours of Michael Jackson dying of a heart attack in hospital were false. Apparently he was in the childrens ward having a stroke.

I like some of his music but his lifestyle was certainly questionable. Anyway GL with it.
