From http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/de...tractions.php:
Silly me (us) to assume that 12/3 = 4, right? Now, you can be technical and say that if the updates occur every 4 months then they clearly won't be quarterly, but the community isn't assuming that. The community is merely assuming that we weren't lied to.

While i do agree that broken skills/exploits should be fixed as fast as possible, so people dont get used to exploiting and thinking its normal, i believe it isnt that easy, because anet really avoids doing new builds for just one skill change.
Maybe they got some issues with their update engine? Afterall gw never goes down for maintenence like other mmorpgs do.

Then let's just admit that GW is a game like any other and that A.Net is a company like any other.
There is nothing that sets this product apart from it's competition, thus one isn't really missing anything by not playing this game. (The same way that one doesn't miss out on anything by playing GW and not a competing product.)
The problem is that these guys put out a product of an insanely high standard. Their support was also insanely good. That's what made many of us support(ed) the product.
And now - they themselves aren't living up to the expectation they set. It's not nice, but ultimately, it's the guys at A.Net that are feeding their families of GW. It's their job to make us want to play it. And if they fail at it - sucks for the people that want to play it, but more, it sucks for the people whose bread depends on it.
The smart thing would just be to look at the constructive criticism because it enables them to get more money out of us.
Edit:
I KNEW I shouldn't have spent those minutes looking for the Samurai Jack episode of Jack and The Haunted House.
Regina beat me to it ...

Yes you are silly because it says every 3 to 4 months, 12/4=3. Assuming wrong I guess.

They are indeed Echo. You can see their job postings here:

In particular the Live Team Designer for Guild Wars specifically.

It would be nice to know what the Live Team has been 'Working hard' on that means the updates, especially the skill balances, have to be delayed and compromised. I can understand why all the information regarding game updates and plans cannot be disclosed in public domains such as this, but considering such a small update was then entire months work for an entire Live Team, an explanation as to why basically nothing was changed would be appreciated, and possibly should be expected.
This is not to say that I, or anyone else, expect any sort of response apart from a vague comment about 'hard work'.

I agree with you completely. Here's a game mechanic that has been in place since Factions launched. We've had probably hundreds of thousands of AB matches where anybody could have so-called "abused" the orb for NPC rez.
I can't even tell you how many matches that I've played, and the most that I've seen is the mechanic gets used only once per game. Judging from the lack of discussion on this board about it, my guess is that most people here don't even know how the mechanic could be abused or have never witnessed it.

To stop it from being a downside, it could be made that with Intensity, Elementalist skills treat, say, all ALs greater than 80 as 80, but treat ALs less than 80 normally.

IMO, if there is any way they are going to buff ele nuking, either Armor Penetration or Armor Ignoring is how they should do it, with an emphasis on the first.
If they just buffed the damage % on intensity and made it maintainable, nuking in NM would be absolutely insane. With Armor Penetration, the increase in damage is MUCH higher in HM, and much less noticable in NM, thusly not breaking the NM/HM boundries.
Fire Magic was always about nuking, and it was always the -best- at nuking, and that's how it's supposed to be. If they were to go the Armor Ignoring route, the damage decrease would have to be minimal with CoP out there, and the immense rise in melee DPS, or nuking will still be overshadowed to worthlessness.

1. The company has said updates will be every 3-4 months. Now you are acting like it's going to be a few months away from now before we get another one.
2. Anet has said it was going to be more open about updates, we haven't heard a word from you guys about anything coming up.
3. If you people were paying attention to the forums, you guys would have known that we were expecting a skill update this week. When it became obvious you weren't going to have one ready by then, you would have said so if you actually cared about the community. But keeping quiet shows that you either don't know about the community or you don't care and only say anything to run damage control. If the damage control thing is correct, and I think it is, it only goes to prove that you all don't have any respect for us and are only stringing us along until GW2 comes out in the hopes we'll shell out money again so you can repeat the process when you start making GW3.
4. If you guys knew how the community felt, you might have been a little more forthcoming about GW2 info, as most of us have seen more info on games that have been canceled than we've seen on GW2.
5. You are expecting us to buy the "we know how you feel" line again, like we were a bunch of idiots. We've heard that too often and you guys aren't acting as you would if you actually meant that.
6. When you do listen to us, like the hairstylists, you do it in a wrong way, such as not having an option to get one via ingame means.
7. Likewise your content updates, if they can be called that, are little more than window dressing and are hardly substantial.
If you ask me, there are no community relations right now and I don't know whose fault it is, but I don't see anyone from your company owning up to it and improving things. CR is a two way street and you guys aren't doing your job, especially with generic posts like the one I've just quoted.

All I can say is 'auch'.
With posts like these it's better not to post on Guru at all, Regina. Come on, a Community Manager that doesn't even know what your company has told to its playerbase? I don't mean this as a personal attack, it just underlines the gap between Anet and the playerbase that I feel at times.
Sure, a major update like April's gets me all excited again, but moreso because we got the promise of another likewise big update in 3-4 months.
This playerbase is craving for any new content/information/update. Don't go pulling that carrot away all of a sudden, leaving only a black hole, sucking in all of our enjoyment.

Calm down guys, lets wait and see what comes up before freaking out. If anet stopped supporting the game 100% it wouldnt be like we all didnt get all our money x100 out of the game. If you seriously dislike teh game now, as many of you seem to, then just move along to another game,

I have moved on, for the moment at least. The question is, are they going to clean up their act enough for me to come back when the next game comes out.

Whatever. That doesn't explain why there's been absolutely 0 information regarding the delay on this skill update and the tourny points BEFORE they were due.
Things don't get RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing delayed by a week 5 minutes before an update. You almost certainly knew it wasn't gonna be on time DAYS before, possibly even WEEKS. There'd be alot less people annoyed about it if you gave enough of a damn to tell us it may be set back days before, not an hour after everyone expected it to be out.

Please speak for only yourself, unless you go by the name "Playerbase".
The vast GW community is not on Guru, who make up only a percentage of GW. If those are your opinions all well and good that is your right, but don't imply you speak for all.

Foot in mouth.... doesn't taste too good, and it isn't liked by the people trying to listen to what you were saying when the foot entered.
I'm fine with no skill changes if there is a reason for it. However, there hasn't been a reason stated, and there hasn't even been mention that there won't be one. We have had expectations based on history and statements both. I'd like to think we could get info if things were changing.
