Finally found a place to get my Lucky Title
Well its seems like I have found a place to get 15,000 lucky points a night at very minimal cost.
So, I hope that this thread is in the right place if it is not can a mod please move it for me, thanks.
So last week I thought about getting my Lucky Title to the next lvl. I was sitting at 445,000 points ish..
So my criteria for getting 50,000 points was,
1) LOW Cost. - cause I am not rich in post - Presearing maybe post not
2) Efficiency of time - at least 2 chests in 5 minutes
3) 50 Gold chests.
I decided on the 50 gold chests so that I might get my lockpick retention up high enough so that I can move on to 600 gold chests while cutting down on the cost.
But where is there a small area to run??
Answer, Fort Ranik Mission.
I have found that I can get 2 chests in 5 minutes or less..this includes mapping.
I use only one run skill - Drunken Master. I run 29% faster when drunk so I am now progressing the drunkard title as I go along. Last night I got lvl 4 of the lucky and lvl 1 of the drunkard.
Now I have only 2,000,000 Lucky points to go. My retention rate for these chests is only 85% and in a week I only broke 22 lockpicks but I managed to get over 200 unlucky points every time I brake a pick. That is 4,400 unlucky points and nothing to sneeze at.
So it should only take me 4,600 more runs at the fort to max the title at 85% retention rate. I can get 5,000 points in a hour - easy even with distractions - and I play for 3 hours a night (or more) so it will take me 5 months to max this title.
Does that sound right? Man, am I doomed for the grind?
So should I get my treasure hunter up a bit more before committing myself to this insanity? 3% more would make it 88% and once I hit the 1,000,000 mark I would get another 2% leaving me at 90% retention rate for 50 gold chests. That would speed this up by 5% which is quite a lot of time if you think about it.
That's 225 unlucky points for breaking a pick at 90% retention rate.. Hummm
Is this title really worth getting? Do I have a better chance of something great in GW2 and How many people actually have the Lucky title MAXED?
Is there a cap as to how high I can retain a lockpick. Like can I get 100% chance to retain a lockpick??

I've got lucky title maxed. Though i did alot of it while maxing treasure hunter, and i have been around for quite a few dragon festivals now.
The max retain is something like 96-97, my normal retain on 600g chests is 76% now with max treasure and lucky.
thats sounds like as good a place as any to find cheap chests. another one is ascalon foothills, is a small zone, it takes about 1 minute to run from one end of zone to other and there is always 1 chest. So once you have run there you can just keep running accross the zone, getting the chest, then going out the portal to the next zone then just turn round and run through it again. If you include zoning it should give a chest every 1.5-2 mins.

for the lockpick retaining % use the formula

(Character level / 2) + (3 * Treasure Hunter ranks) + (2 * Lucky ranks) = %

if you play nine rings during events during the whole weekend, you shouldnt need that much running for chests

just using the 9 rings to max the title would take about 4 years worth of events. So it is quite likely that you would want to run some chests to help out getting to max.

Plus the fact that nine rings is extremely expensive, hence why his #1 criteria is low cost.

Yeah 9 rings is a total waist of time imho.
I will try your suggestion tonight.
My question for you is, since you say you have the title and provided me with proff - cause no one else has ever said good 50 chest runs that I have heard... is...
Do you find that your drops are better with the title "displayed" and can you make chest runs profitable now that your titles are maxed?
making gold is always a good thing

But u cant put a cost on time... more time = more cost...
i was always telling ppl u spend more money on titles and saved time to get more money...
do uwsc or any other fast farm... 3 hrs a day... 2 of my guildies farmed over 500e in drops and selling stuff in a month from uwsc... thats 500e more u can spend on afk rings... not running stupid ascalon chests...
time=money... dont waste it...

I'm putting my trust into the wiki calculations showing the cheapest way to max TH and Lucky is to use lockpicks on 600g chests. So I'm just running chests in NM out of Boreal whenever I can afford a batch of picks. You get a chest every 1-2 min, and my retain rate on those is now 63%. Plus I get enough golds to make progress on Wisdom, and I get the occasional useful mod or inscription to salvage. It seems like the best way to go about those titles to me. Of course, I also take advantage of Nine Rings when it's available.

Well I am looking forward in time to GW2. There must be some good thing to come from the Lucky title. I have no idea what but you say farm ectos. Farming ectos does not get me the Lucky title. Maybe I play more for Fame than Fortune.
If Fame > Fortune then Chest > Ectos
After all, its my 3 hours. I have everything I want anyway. everlasting tonic, mini gwen, vampiric sword in presearing, mini destroyer, elite armors, destroyer weapons. What else is there.
Besides I love the grind. I am like a grinding king. I got my LS title by grinding snow wurms.
As for gold spent I found a way to get 300Kish every 20 days with very mini effort - all legal too. So then I buy my 240 lockpicks and have a blast seeing how many chest I can open before I break them. This is fun to me. I just do Killroy's to break them and Ascalon Chests to retain them.

I also like ascalon foothills for low end chest running.
If you prefer, after opening the chest you can find a way to die (like frenzy or health sacrifice). Dying teleports you back to the res shrine near the entrance, which can be quicker than running the rest of the way across the zone.

The area they're talking about is not directly accessible from a town, so going back to town wastes time, particularly since you get snared on the way from Yak's. Dying and zoning out and back in is favorable if you can do it quickly.

eeeeerrrr, not sure how to put this. But do you really think that what you are getting back is worth that kind of time commitment?

I can't really answer on the better drops with max title displayed since i don't keep stats anymore since i got both titles.
But while i was maxing them i found that when averaged over a fairly large number ie 1000 chests or so, what title i displayed had no effect on the statistics. The results always fell within a statistically valid spread of the average.

I can't speak for the development team. But do you really think your accomplishments are going to give you an edge in gw2? I mean really?
Everything they have told us so far indicates that your dedicated equipment in your HoM will be involved in gw2 in some manner. But that's all. They haven't said anything to my knowledge that indicates your titles will come into play, other than perhaps in a list of historical accomplishments.

We cannot answer the question of "should" you do it for you. Your preferences are your own.
By my math, increasing your Treasure Hunter title will cut about 150 runs off the needed time. So you have two questions that you need to ask yourself:
1) Can I increase the title track to the next level in less than the 12.5 hours it would take to do those 150 runs? (You must lengthen the 12.5 hour term by the amount of time saved by lockpick retention from increasing TC, in reality. However, I would need some assumptions about speed/retention in order to calculate that.)
2) If #1 is true, is it worth the monetary cost to do so?
It seems to me that you should not worry about increasing your Treasure Hunter title, but I would need to know where you are at on that track to be sure.

I'd say, best bet is to wait for boardwalk events and camp 24/7 on the 9-rings in a corner. I usually waste 200k+ on these weekend events, but net a nice lucky/unlucky for absolutely NO effort (other than keeping my PC running 24/7)...
In addition, do NM chests (600g) so you get treasure hunter up also. I'm at 63% retention now for NM chests, so 2 in 3 I keep the pick, and get about 1 in 4 golds also (for wisdom).

Or u could run two accounts at the same time. Run with one and leave the other by the entance. So, when the runner gets the chest switch back to the account by the gate, rezone, this would shave a good 30-50 secs off each run, depending on how fast it takes you to die
