At first I was kinda pissed about this. Being an avid pet tamer/trainer since the beginning almost I spent a very long time tracking down every pet in the game and training them to various evolutions. Then all of a sudden any Joe Blow could do it instantly? But now I see the benefit from this. Hopefully it will bring much needed attention to our neglected furries. They really need to rework the pet fighting a bit. And I can now swap between pets which is a brilliant idea. Good job on the nice scenery as well. Thats one of the things I have always liked about this game, its stunning landscapes.Much much better than the choppy cartoon joke of a world that is WoW. Anywho, thumbs up to Anet for finally getting something right.

I finally filled mine yesterday I charmed almost all of them. I had a few silver coins left over after I crafted my large bags, that I used to get the last few.

I put my current pets in the menagerie, but I didn't bother capturing more to fill it out. No real reason to, but I can see how it would be fun for some.

Mine would be full already but I am too lazy to start EOTN for it's pets. I have everything level 20 from the other games though. I had a lot of fun tracking down animals and such.

But you can get your pet back! Go to the Zaishen Menagerie and ask Wymm the training captain and she will show you a list of pets you can get.

Depends on how you think of it.
If you leave a bear named Yogi with the tamer, you can't go to Wynn and say "Bring me Yogi", or go wandering through the menagerie to visit Yogi. So, it isn't really "your" bear that you get back. Just a random group of four bears with the same characteristics that Yogi had, bless his memory.
I get around this with a little mental ju-jitsu myself. Wynn can't be personally familiar with all the animals and their owners, so she brings out several. I pick the first one that approaches me, assuming "my" pet would recognize me, and say "Oh, Yogi, there you are!" Of course, he's been having a good time and doesn't really want to leave, so he puts up a bit of fuss, but eventually settles down.

I lost interest in managerie after maybe a week....i found it fun to see animals in the zoo walking around but i didnt feel that acomplishment tingle inside so i droped it off...
If it had some kind of reward maybe it be worth doing.. im not complaining but yeah..pointelss.. nice addition to the game not discredeting the developers at all but still shortcomings are at hand...Link it to GW2 maybe il work on it....but then again im not overachier lately when it somes to games...

How could they misplace your pet when it still has your name?
Seriously though, I love the Menagerie. I was trying to get all the pet unlocks for HoM, and hated losing one pet to get another.
Now I can store... er, "release" my Black Widow spider while I level up a Pheonix again...

I agree with the people who do not want to give up their pets.
I've had my white tiger for years and I do not want to give him up to be able to swap pets. If my tiger "Strozzi" were wandering the yard and I could come back and see "Strozzi" and take him with me I'd be much happier.
Also what is the pointing in being able to get any level you want? If you are a ranger with a level 20 pet why would you want a level 12 pet?
And the Stylist pack is just a joke, seriously? Who would pay 9.99 to be able to change their hair color? Pfffft, I wouldn't pay that and Im a girl even!
Mordakai it doesn't still have your name.
Oh, and I also wanted to say the "baby" animals are a complete disappointment, come ON, they couldn't even be bothered to draw BABY versions? They just look like some weird mini pet pffftt pbbbthhhh

Amen! I can see why it would take too much effort to do real baby versions for all the other animals, but they already had a perfectly good model for moa chicks.

You can also think of it as dropping your kids off at school. When you pick them back up, you know which one is yours even though they're amidst a hundred other kids.
I "dropped off" my black widow, let him take a little time to learn about the world, and himself - lo and behold he's now a Dire Black Widow! I'm so proud of how far he's come.

Pets are barely useful for rangers, unless you're in a niche situation or just screwing around for shits n giggles in PvE.
My main isn't even a ranger (looks at avatar) so... no, never have and probably never will.
