What are you expecting from GW2?
I am a little apprehensive that if GW2 is radically different from GW many people will be unhappy. My personal view is that if GW2 keeps the feel of GW while giving a totally new experience I will be satisfied. What do you think?

It will be a bad WoW+Aion+GW hybrid, with decent visuals, broken skills, and a complete forsaking of Guild versus Guild combat.

I expect an actual MMO, which will confuse most of the people here who think GW1 is one.

No monthly fee
6-8 professions
Necro and rit hybrid (minions and spirits in one skill line)
A long, well-made campaign
A Z axis
Balanced and well thought out skills
Less skills
Balanced PvP and new PvP modes
Better character customization
No PvE skills
No OP consumables
A HM that's harder due to improved AI, more skills for AI, and higher levels
Small level cap
Max gear easy to get later in the game for a level playing field
Grind only existing in titles
5+ races (don't really want 'em, but they'll probably be there)

New experiences.
Not too many skills, but enough to keep things interesting.
I'm just hoping for a good game, I don't really even know what I expect from it.

This plus a lot of QQing and raging from the people on the boards and no real community relations skills from ANet.
Community: things are broken very badly, fix the game.
ANet: We feel your pain *snicker*. No we really are listening *tries to control a laugh*. However, due to technological limitations and the need to do more than the current game will allow, we are now working on GW3 and only have left one person to maintain GW2.

And they have shown 0 indications that they have the knowledge to be able to get it right in GW 2 as well.
Honestly my belief is that GW 2 will be a lot of fun for the first year or so because it is new and people like new things. There won't be as large a learning curve as their is right now so the wait time between matches in a GvG type environment hopefully won't be as long and there should be a lot more people to play with.
But after a year it will probably flat line out and become GW 1 as it is now because I don't see any major tournaments like the GWWC or GWFC happening, so there won't be much anyone would want to play for. PvE and World PvP are probably going to be all the game will offer, and I doubt world PvP will be able to quench my competitive appetite, and god knows PvE isn't enough to keep me interested.
So it will probably be a good game for a year, then just another guild wars with so much potential that is never reached due to poor game management and updates.

This is what I'm hoping, too. I don't really have any ideas for the skills and crap. I just want the wonderment.

This is what I mean by "confused." GW2 will be an MMORPG. You will have to grind to level to get to the point where you can PvP/Instance/Public Quest/Whatever system there will be. A "campaign" is unlikely, except in general terms, because the world will be large and uninstanced. You will be able to choose your path.
All skills will likely have PvE and PvP versions, because that's how MMOs balance their games. Monsters will probably just auto attack and use one or two abilities. You won't see GW1 style encounters. You'll likely grind one mob, maybe 2 at a time.
"Max" gear probably won't exist, because higher quality gear is part of the MMO experience. I doubt a game with 100+ levels will have a spear you can use for all of those levels. Consumables will probably exist, if not even be required for PvE progression (whatever form that takes). Perhaps there will be professions to create them.
As for balanced PvP, just forget about it. WoW, the biggest MMO on the market has shittastic PvP. WAR, it's main competitor at the moment, which is almost exclusively a PvP game, is also poorly balanced. Expect to reroll for the flavor of the month.
Also, expect it to be released around the time that the next WoW expansion or content patch comes out, and thus get crushed in sales and mocked by WoW fanboys clinging to a watered down crappy game.
Edit: think of GW1 : GW2 as Fallout 2 : Fallout 3
You can kind of see the resemblance, but it's a completely different game.

I want that, too. --^ Starting a game like GW is awesome. No one cares what's meta or OP, there's no wiki to hold your hand through the campaign, and you get to experience a sense of wonder and discovery. And it will be fun to see the guy with 5 sets of obby at the same point as the guy in Ascalon asking everyone what a tonic is.

~ Z Axis (unsure what button jump would be though >.<)
~ 6-8 Prof
~ No Monthly Fee
~ Same game... just upgraded GFX
~ Play style/feel the same (same targeting, movement, skill layout)
~ Same limit to skills (8-10)
~ GvG play
~ 1v1, 4v4, 6v6 arenas (1v1 means 1v1)
Thats off the top of my head... but what first comes to mind is keeping the play style and feel the same. Improved GFX and storyline ofcoarse, but I want the same movement feel like in the current Guild Wars. Like shooter games, I dont like most of them because Counter Strike for me has the best feel when I play it. The others can't match that very well. Same with WoW and Perfect World, I didnt like the targeting and movement system in those games. So I hope most of all that they keep the targeting, skill setup and movement the same, but add that Z-axis. But I like i said, I am still not sure what "Jump" would be...

And the exact same people that didn't learn anything in the first game are designing the 2nd game with absolutely no indication that ANY of the current problems in the game will be addressed or fixed.
Kinda makes you optimistic eh?

It's the Riverside way, instead of something constructive some people just feel that they have denigrate ANET whenever they can. I knew when I posted this I left it open for them to attack, I just feel in the long run more will post positively.

At least right now I don't care if it's P2P because I'm already paying for another game now anyway.
I'm hoping for persistant instances - harvesting, crafting, housing, jumping, swimming, mounts. I'm hoping for a real mmo where you meet people in the zones during your journey.
I'm hoping for good lore that has a believable move from 1 to 2. I'm hoping for alot
I'm also hoping it comes out before I die of old age lol
