GW2 wasnt announced to early, because it had a additional function of keeping people playing GW1.
But the problem is the lack of info...

Precisely the opposite, if you understood what I was saying at all. The problem isn't lack of information, because it would be stupid to start a marketing campaign now.
They have been smart in building up suspense so far. Not releasing anything and being secretive just makes people's hunger for information even greater. The minute they release even one single screenshot or article it will be posted up on gaming news websites everywhere. If they come packing a trailer and more info it will spread even further.
They can't waste that opportunity too far from beta/release. If they blow it all too early then people will get bored again and wander off. They need to do it in a time frame that allows them to get the ball rolling and keep up the momentum all the way through.
They tried to have their cake and eat it, by using the announcement (particularly the HoM link) as a crutch for the GW playerbase and then hoping we would let that slide and wait patiently. Sadly we can't, but that doesn't mean they should put themselves in an even worse position by trying to appease us with screenshots.

Yeah. Because if you look at it, the only people that might get turned-off by the lack of information are fans of the game and you pretty much know that everyone is gonna check the game out once it's released.
The trick is to expand the player base, which means selling more copies and making more money.
That leads me to believe they have quite a marketing push planned for GW2.

Yeah, that article and comments here is why I don't think they are going to have a year-long marketing campaign. I am still hoping/wishing/betting for a 5th Anniversary release. Guess we will know soon enough. GW2 seems to be "on deck" after Aion rounds the bases or strikes out.

Why would GW2 need to wait for Aion?
There's a place in the market for both games. Just like GW could compete with WoW (considering the release dates and how many copies GW sold), so it can with Aion.

Yes, but is there a place in the marketing swamp? Aion is NCSoft's golden child. ArenaNet at the end of the day is a wholly-owned subsidiaru. After Tabula Rasa, which still burns in the memory of the Korean overlords, the last thing they want is for anything to get in the way of a large-market Aion launch... especially a fantasy RPG from their own stable.

Maybe, but the problem is that some people completely stopped caring by now.
In the last few months -bitching- is on the rise, and they need to release something now ASAP.Its a perfect time, but I still dont like it.

Doesn't matter in the slightest if people care about GW2 now. It matters that they care in a year or two, during the ramp up to beta and launch.
Even the most jaded troll on this forum is probably going to give GW2 a shot once the marketing takes hold.

And then I'll remember the whole "campaign every 6 months"
the reskin of the north
the title grind
the late and nonexistent skill updates
the lack of info about the updates
the ignored "benchmarks" for gw2 news
the slow deterioration of GW1 that was induced by anet
and overall the horrible CR
and then I'll go back to swtor

That's great, but don't kid yourself into thinking SW:TOR wont have issues of its own.

In which case you are probably not a core member of the fantasy demographic games like Guild Wars are aimed at.
Personally, I have little interest in lightsabres.

Yeah you can. Lightaxes....
Err Chaos Axes. Just need that sound effect. *SWOOSH SWOOSH* Heck, 90% of the "cool" factor of lightsabers (compared to every other cartoon/video game that has knockoff lazerswords) are the sound effects.

I'll admit I was wrong. It didn't take a fully developed website with a couple of pieces of concept art and an FAQ, it just took a flash logo.
