Undead Priest:

This was at the very start of Prophecies, with refund points and all that. I had decided I was going to make a Necromancer who raised minions. I was told heal area was good for minions, and so my secondary was going to be Monk. I had no idea you could change it at any point. So Necromancer = Undead, Monk = Priest.

I try to avoid taking character-naming too seriously. My first character was named Super Trialman because I was using the trial and it is more fun to play than to sit thinking of names. Now I usually just take a first name of a character from a movie that I like (often obscure Star Wars characters) and add a humorous or fitting last name.

Van was the name of this sweet anime I watched, EscaFlowne (which I need to re-watch, haven't seen it since 2003) and Aurelius is just a sweet greek (I think?) last name.

yeah I do something similar using a variety of deities, legends and mythology references.

With the name change I bought I mixed

Pyre Fierceshot's name with a latin "sinlike" combination

Thus the new name

Pyre Rutilus Umbra

Rutilus = Golden , Shinning
Umbra = Shadow, shade

So translated it means
Pyre Shinning Shade

My first character's name was Sith Princess (Necro) because I've been using that name for a very long time in other games. Many of my other names also use the Sith name:

Spirit Of The Sith (Rit)
Slashing Sith (Assassin)
Sith Healer (Monk)
Queen Of The Sith (Dervish)

My others:
Screaming Ziva (Paragon). Ziva is my favorite character on NCIS and Shouting Ziva or Chanting Ziva just didn't sound right.

Pyro Gyrl (Elementalist). Self-explanatory I think.

Cordanya B Willow (Ranger). From BtVS. Cordellia+Anya Buffy Willow

hmm, how did I name my characters...

ah I know, I clicked in the character name box and typed a name!!!!

my characters names are usually just the proffession (or a word related to that proffession) of the character and then a name eg a ranger: Marksman Bob or Bob The Marksman

usually beacause i don't want to spend ages thinking of a name for the character, I want to play the game

My rather small guild kinda migrated from campaign to campaign creating new characters. For Factions we all used Chinese food names. For Nightfall we used names from "The Lion King". Kinda fun and kinda silly. Sure got comments when several of us were together.

Wetodded Wituawist (Wit, err...Rit) ~ from watching SNL one night. They did a skit mocking Barbara Walters.

Pangasinan Princess (Pre War) ~ where my wife is from.

Well my Necro is obvious cause he is a farmer... but my first characters always had Xenos in them such as Elementalist Xenos, Warrior Xenos and so on. I did this because a wizard in a book I read was named Xenos and my first character was an Elementalist. It just stuck... I later found out that Xenos was Greek for outsider. Interesting fact.

Usually blatant thievery from console games I've played. :]
Though I made a few of them myself.
I.e. my monk's name is Mitsukai Aurica I stole the name Aurica from Ar Tonelico for PS2, the Reyvateil Aurica Nestmile. :]
My assassin on the other hand is a name that's followed me through many games, Cyanide Kyss. And for some reason, all the characters I've given that name have all had dual daggers or swords. >__o
