SRSLY?
Typing some little whiny banter is not going to change anything. Do you even know what boycott means lol? You realize that you are going to get some storage upgrades whether you pay for it or not, right? Go ahead and "boycott" then, cause that means less complete morons taking up space ingame.

I love it when people talk about what price something "should" be. The reality is that you don't have a damn clue what the price should be, and you are not qualified to opine on the price in the first place.
You know what decides what the price "should" be? The market. Accurate a priori pricing is pretty much impossible, especially for you internet cumgarglers that think prices are based on handwaving bullshit like arbitrarily fabricated moral obligations and what you, personally, would pay for something.

Serverspace does not grow on trees!
BUT I do believe they should make it cheaper because you get more storage space on a new character slot or a new account, for a better price.
I'm totally pro-april update, but they should really rethink the price if they plan on selling a lot of those storage tabs.

As been stated repeatedly, you are not forced to buy one to keep up with the jones'es. A-net has the right to create and charge whatever they like. They do this knowing it MAY or MAY NOT be successful.
Bottom line. dont buy it. seems simple enough. do you boycott every company that doesnt do as you wish.
I have been hoping car makers would make a cup holder to fit the epic 96oz slurpy.. but to no avail. i still have to cram it between the stick shift and the seat.

most people actually thought it is normal live team update thing, read that other anticipation thread, some people even defended Arena Net saying they are doing all this for free and that people should just shut up, now see the result, free my ass. :P

Do I want more storage?
Of course I do!
Do I need more storage?
Of course I don't!
After the announcement of GW2 - the way I play the game has changed.
I delete things. Characters, weapons, other items.
Thus, there is no way in hell that I'll be buying more storage. But, I am perfectly fine with other people buying it.

It's been debated enough already, but the fact remains the same that;
Anet will be providing everyone with a 'storage upgrade' (in the form of equipment packs),
an opportunity to get additional account storage for free and the option to purchase more storage if that's still not enough.
How many gold/green weapons do you store on your mules?
How many armor/weapon sets do your mains carry?
Most, if not all those items will soon be out of your current inventory spaces.
You've played up to now with the storage you have, and soon you'll be getting even more.
So what's the problem?

It isn't like Anet is forcing you to pay the $10 to get storage. Also I can see it from Anet's angle. They created a fee-free game, and they need to generate revenue somehow.
I am not going to buy one, but it seems like a reasonable idea.

I don't think people are so upset about the fact that they're charging. I think people are upset that it's 9.99 USD, which is the same price of a character slot or a Guild Wars Platinum (at Gamestop or Walmart) and that's just stupid marketing.
Why would we want to pay for 20 slots when we can get 40 or more for the same price?

GW has been and continues to be a no-fee-to-play game. I believe that they originally did that because they believed and cared for gamers and felt that we would prefer it that way.
In the past they have continued that tradition; however, this is obviously a ploy for money. The price is way too expensive considering what you get and I highly doubt that we will get any storage tabs for free (unless you win some "contest").
In the end, I think this is a bad choice and a bad direction for GW to head. I really hope that very few people buy storage tabs so they will see that the community does not like being ripped off. Tbh, I'll just keep buying mules. It's the same price, you get more storage, and I can actually play the character if I want.

So where were you when Character Slots became buyable?

Yes I know that sucks, but that is the way it needs to work for now because of the minimum resolution. If we decide to increase bag sizes (which we would like to do at some point) we will need to increase the minimum resolution available. That is one of the reasons we went with the Equipment Pack right now instead. Another is that a pack which restricts what can be put in it does save on data storage quite a bit. Once we have released these things and assessed their effect on the servers we can evaluate the need or ability to offer more storage upgrades in the future.

Oops, sorry, it does let you put UNcustomized weapons in there too since shields and focii don't get customized and most casters don't customize their weapons either. So it is uncustomized weapons, and weapons/armor customized by the char storing it. It's allowing weapons customized to multiple different people that is one of the biggest problems with general storage. So just cutting that out alone allowed us to do the Equipment Pack and it was actually Mike O'Brien who suggested the idea in one of our big meetings on storage.
