it would be free if there was a subscription.

I doubt that. They normally have to pay for those types of things in subscript games too.
Gaming companies will make money where they can. Whatcha gonna do? ::shrug::

If you don't need that convenience, you don't need to pay for it.

Put the few things you need to be convenient in storage. Everything else goes on mules. Don't really need any extra panes.

Still overpriced, and especially not worth the real-world money.
It's a virtual commodity, so charge virtual money for it.

The same could be said about Guild Wars itself. Or indeed, any game that you can download.

Gonna take more than that discount to encourage me to buy storage tabs.
The rest of the update doesn't really add or change anything that sounds so significant that it needed done now when nothing else was going to be released.

What're you talking about?! Or course that stuff had to be done then.
What would have happened if they'd let that Murakai bug become well known, even to the point where people started screenshotting it?
Plus, it's not like there are any more important bugs they could have spent their time trying to fix.......................

They stopped having paid people do this because it's no longer sold in the region, so the chinese wasn't updated when most of the other languages were. But they still (supposedly) have an active Chinese community & some of them volunteered to do translations or something. While japan & korea shut down due to lack of interest/sales, Taiwan was shut down for the entirely different reason of new laws that limit the regulation of gold-selling.

I think the Murakai bug was fixed because it was causing players' games to crash. I think thats important enough to fix.

Don't be daft. There is a vast difference. You're comparing a storage pane to a game? Seriously?
You CANNOT PLAY the Guild Wars GAME without buying the Guild Wars GAME, meaning paying real-world money for it.
Can you play Guild Wars WITHOUT a storage pane? YES!
A storage pane is not worth any real-world money, it is cosmetic at best, for use in your virtual game world. A storage pane does not make you better, stronger, richer or more powerful, and cannot even be tied to anything that has ingame value.
The actual game is worth real-world money, which you can resell. You cannot resell storage panes.
In Fact, by charging real-world money for the storage panes, they are actually increasing the resell value of the overall game.
It's stupid.
EDIT: And yes, why update in the middle of the week when these are hardly significant updates? Were complete zones / dists crashing due to people exploiting Murakai or what? I see no reason they could not leave this and do this during the normal build update cycle. Meh.

Guild Wars is a virtual commodity, just the same as the storage panes. There really is no difference.

I'd buy the extra storage if it was $10 for all 4 slots. $40 (30 now, I guess) could buy half of another game, though.

Nice discount, lol. Still overpriced obviously. They would be high-but-acceptable if they were sold 2 panes for $10.
Oh and at the same time they added some tax (8.3%) which wasn't there before = wtf?
No idea when it was added really but I remember well I bought a bunch of character slots and they were straight $9.90 without any tax.

I like how you read the post, quoted the post, and then said what was said before the post. It's almost as if the words did not make any sense to you...

Correction: not one part of your post changed the fact that whether you're buying GW online, or buying a GW upgrade online, you are buying a virtual product, and thus, if that makes it unacceptable to buy one, that makes it unacceptable to buy the other.

so how do you plan on making in-game money if you don't have the game yet?

I thought the storage pane discount was great and bought some panes. Convenience wins in my book. I get tired of sorting through 12 characters looking for that spare staff I know I have.

Nice irrelevant thesis fallacy there.
