Funny thing, I didn't use any consumables beyond the mandatory moggy tonic, took 24 minutes. I'd say you wasted an essence.

I figured those were just festive treats - we didn't get many compared to trans tonics, and it's Halloween afterall. But I haven't used any... just in case!

Completed it in one time.
I don't have much UW exp. Only from some smite farming back in the days.
Use a wiki map and you are fine. And I don't get how people get damage at all.
If you focus you should't get much damage.
Maybe I had lucky spawns?
The place with the spiders.
I used the skill to make em friendly. and i faced one more spider on the way to the reaper. I kd'd that one.
The chaos plains.
On big groups use the "make friendly" skill.
On casters (horses) use KD. and with the speed buff you shouldn't get any damage.
The place with the big zombies.
Prolly the hardest (Still not hard)
Try to get in safe locations and wait for recharge of the "make friendly" skill.
Ice wastes
First crawler group
AoE slowdown, on next group (sometimes alot) u use the "make friendly" skill.
So yh I guess it's all common sense. Don't understand how it can be hard.
I didn't have any rubberbanding. But I had that once in the first quest (made me die) and it's very anoying indeed!
I never tried much perma farming coz I had wireless internet. I got cable now..
GET IT ASAP! it's perfect

Just woke up and did the quest on a second character after failing once succeeding once yesterday. It's MUCH easier now that I'm familiar with the skills. I did use a blue rock candy, but my knowledge of the mobs would have been sufficient to pass through it anyway. 20 minutes flat, activated Blue Candy at the beginning and it died as I ran past the last mob into the Hall.
Now that I see how to do it and can do it decently fast, I might do it a few more times.
Coop eh... might be fun, but it might be super annoying. Share the frustration of UWSC groups when one part fails? No thanks. Still, if it must be, I'll be the guy saying "Pits LFG" and getting groups instantly.

1 question for those who fail. Do you keep out of aggrorange after kd ing the first? Cause they wont attack you ehen you dont, cries seem not to count for that if they dont do any dmg.
So, use kd, step back and wait 1s, enter aggrorange of the kd enemy and the other(s) will attack you, kd the second, run through or run back till kd is back again.
You shouldnt fail then

If you fail this you either lack patience or you have bad lag.

I share the frustrations had by others. It took me 5 tries to beat this quest. I died in the Pits after talking to 4 reapers. UGH! I got lagged/body blocked by Aaxtes(sp?) even though my view of my character showed that she ran past them. UGH! Decided to start in the Pits first, got it clear and made it to my 6th Reaper and got rubberbanded back into Dryders for a death. UGH!
I finally completed it by using Blue Rock Candy and an Essence. I was so frustrated by this quest.
The Pits are...the pits! I didn't know my way around UW very well so that circle loop to cross the bridge really screwed up my progress there. The "make friendly" skill would only go so far and I would cross the bridge and another hostile patrol would be rushing up the hill towards me. UGH! To tell the truth, I think I finally made it through by sheer luck. Its hard to time patrols if you can't even see them!.
I sincerely hope that the following quest don't get much harder than this one or I may have to just opt out.

I'll be honest, I did try and use this method. It worked up to a point but then when I circled around the loop to cross the bridge the monsters that I had previous kd'd were back up and waiting for me, even though I had to contend with the hostiles that were walking straight at me. There were just too many on the move towards me to knock down....So I would use make friendly, rush across the bridge and then WTF!! here comes another group of 3-4 running up the hill towards me, my 'make friendly spell' still recharging
I just am too unfamiliar with the area and the monster patrols, and the fact that I was too nervous about dieing, that I just couldn't get down any sort of pattern for them. Like I said in my other post, I think I made it through finally on sheer luck. I may try tonight on another character to see if I can figure it out better.

Having done this quest on 3 different characters with minimal problems, I can tell u a few key things to remember.
#1: Speed is not an issue. Take your time and watch the patrols when possible.
#2: The KD spell recharges fast. When Skill #2 and #4 are recharging, Hit the KD skill, tab, kd skill, tab and run like hell.
#3: In the Chaos Planes (sic) the Banished Dream Riders are the only ones of the NON pop-ups that are mesmers. KD, then run.
#4. BE PATIENT. Seriously, I can't stress this enough. Impatience WILL lead to a fail. If you find yourself getting frustrated, just slow down a pace.
I hope this helps some of the non UW farmers who are unaware of what lies down below

Additionally, the AoE snare is like a 900% ims boon for you (since enemies are now 10% of normal speed).
If you need to get through some groups that need physical range and you can't use skill 1 or 4, try the snare.

I wouldn't mind a minipet, but it's definitely a little over done at this point. It just seems like the easiest thing to throw at us, without them having to do much work. I don't want to complain about free stuff but it does just feel lazy and I'd much prefer to see something a little more special done here.
Or just the 2005 holiday hats I missed, I'd be happy with that.

Also if you get hit with a degenerating hex (they last forever) you have time to find a safe spot for them to expire. Recharge your health before going any farther. There are many knooks and crannies you can hide in. If you don't and get hexed with a another batch of hexes good luck on your 2nd attempt at the quest. (Bone pits area is the hardest IMO)

Does anyone know if you can bring a survivor on the second quest? I know it says you won't lose title on the first quest if you die, but there's on info on the second. Would like that 20k XP.

I don't think your route out of Mountains is possible, you might want to check that.
