I won't deny that I report at least 1-3 people a day for "inappropriate language", "racial slur", "account sharing", ect ect (I have only failed maybe 4 or 5 of my 100+ reports on getting suspended/perma'd).
Having said that, I do my part in keeping trolls at bay to keep GW a somewhat (Notice!! Keyword being somewhat!!) cleaner place to play.
Anyways. To everyone else hating on Kumu Honua for wanting/agreeing that the rules are fine/he approves of them and that he disagrees with what you are saying by a nicely worded counter-argument statement: grow a maturity level :]
edit: this is the perfect example of what I mean by the "grow a maturity level" line.

Has anet sent you your deputy's badge yet? Really? Account sharing? it's that harmful to you if someone is helping another person farm or is too broke to afford the game themselves?

I completely admit that this is infact what I should have done, and what I usually do do. Wait, I'm supposed to be "immature" because I don't agree with the rules completely, where can I go with this....... "i just said do do, lololololololololooloololololol"

I'm am one of the most foul mouthed pricks you would ever meet in your life on the street, I've never been banned from any game for foul language.
You lack self control.
Realize for just one second that when you log on into anet server, you in turn are entering anet's house. Now would you walk into someones house and call a total stranger a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing bitch?
Spare me any lies because you wouldn't, you know better than that.
You entered a house with set rules, you broke those rules and now you wish they would change them? How would you feel if that was your house and you were enforcing the rules?
As for your comment Test Me, it's called being civilized.

I've said earlier.
Quote:
there are people out there so immature that all they do all day long is sit there and wait for someone to do something that they might interpret as a personal offence. And when they hear it! OMG OMG they have to report it, because it's their duty, they live of the harm and punishment they get to apply to others for "breaking the rules". It's their only satisfaction, the climax of the day. They've been useful to society, they've detected the f word in a sentence and asked for bans/revenge/retaliation/etc.
|
That is you right there.
Being mature means respecting differences not trying to suppressing your nature. It's normal to get angry and yes it is even normal to swear to some extent. You are incapable of understanding that not everyone else feels the need to suppress their own nature in the name of self control.
I fear far more self control freaks than I fear people that swear in my face. Those control freaks are the real danger. The real danger to cause repression, censorship... inquisition, middle ages and so on. If you got 2 neurons working you'd get the point.

No, I wouldn't, but I'd sure punch them in the face and call them a c__t the moment they'd call me a queer for no reason. You're forgetting that little part.
And ostracizing me for questioning and even challenging a rule is the type of mentality that would have prevented the formation of many countries and many inventions and discoveries if everyone had that point of view.

1. I don't get why there's even the tiniest thought in your head that your ban is less than justified. Of course it's justified.
2. I have never even heard the terms "C-ck holster" and "f___ start" before.
3. But, understanding those terms from the context, aren't you offering/threatening to engage in a gay sex act? Because you're upset he called you queer? Uh... hmmm....
4. The other individual was probably banned too; he deserved to be at least.
5. This disturbs me:

While support clearly got this case right (ban deserved), their overall policies still give trolls and griefers a wrongful-ban-hammer to bludgeon people with all too often....

This I do agree with. I do agree that I took it a bit to far, but, I'm trying to stand up for the person that simply says to stfu.

No, i simply called him a homophobe for calling me a queer out of the blue, the more offensive statements were made after he threatened to come to my house and rape my mother and kill my dog.

As for the rest of it..I know and agree with you about the lang filter, but if I were in your situation, the next time it happens, ignore the abuser the entire time do not address them...just wait until the entire thing is over, get a nice juicy screen and send it to anet, or just ignore the entire situation altogether.

That's actual harassment, that truly does deserve a banhammer.

This again?
Why is it so hard for some people to understand that when they accepted the terms of the EULA, they make themselves accountable for those times when they violate the terms of the EULA? And why is it so hard for some people to understand that A-Net did NOT put in a chat filter as way for foul-mouthed twits to get around the EULA?
(IMHO, this whole dead-horse of a thread is nothing more than a ploy by the OP to pass the time during his suspension.)

Insert something I find to be witty that has been said already in this thread and fails to see all the points so I can be just like this guy....

The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is what I was refering to. Look beyond the obvious, thanks.
As for Joe Fierce: lolwut? So reporting people for violating the policy THEY AGREED TO WHEN THEY FIRST SIGNED INTO GUILD WARS is me "trolling" ? LOL. Okay (oh btw. I do not do /report. That does nothing for you. I use plaync.com/support).

Banned

Here is the question
Did the introduction of the report interface improve guild wars.
From my experience, reporting leechers is ineffective, reporting bots is ineffective. Reporting someone for hurting your feelings with naughty words...well..it would seem this is a priority for support.
Is this a priority for the guildwars community?? Given the stated lack of resources available for GWS 1 support, is this where we want those pay roll dollars spent??? playing net nanny??
Isn't it common knowledge that the report function is primarily a tool used by butt hurt juveniles to get back at one another?
Devote those resources to improving the game. Bi monthly skill updates but rest assured somewhere out there someone is getting banned for having "poo" in their name. dumb.

It is to uphold the quality of the game and prevent it from turning into a flaming cesspool of flamers. I could live without it, but w/e. If anet feels like enforcing one, they can have it. Wouldn't call it ridiculous though...
