Will Anet's Handling Of GW1 Dissuade You From GW2?
Two parts to this.
One: Do you think GW1 has been handled well since Anet moved onto GW2 overall?
Two: If not, will in what way will this affect your view on GW2? Will you still start playing/preorder ASAP? Wait for community feedback? Wait to see how good support of the game is?
Personally, I won't be buying until I hear alot of positive things. I know Anet can make good games, but I now question the quality of support for their games. I might be tempted to buy CE, and hold it. If it turns out too many are disappointed in one way or another, it'll be someone's birthday/christmas gift.

Despite my criticism of GW1, it's not GW1 why I am not interested in GW2.
It's GW2.
(As far as I can see) It seems that everything that made GW1 good isn't part of GW2.

How Guild Wars 1 is being currently "handled" isn't relevant to me playing Guild Wars 2. I expect Guild Wars 2 to be handled like Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall were when they were the main focus, which was very good. As a lore nut I will absolutely buy GW2 for the lore alone.

Judging by how GW1 got slightly abandoned due to the next game, who's to say it won't happen with GW2.
Not buying.

Well, I will be buying the Collectors' Edition, if for no other reason than that I regret not doing so for GW1 and don't want the same regret for GW2. I'll probably also play it, since, y'know, best to get characters made quickly as possible for earlier presents. How much I'll play it - that remains to be seen. If it sticks to GW philosophy (which it probably won't) then I won't need to grind at all to get max equipment and level.

The handling of GW1 is fine. Not great, but not nearly as bad as the community makes it out to be. I'd rather have A.net's developers then say Mythic at Warhammer online. "Well, we are going to sorta make it so PvP works without crashing and hideous lag. We are finally getting a system with most of the bugs worked out" - one year after release.

It's pretty clear that the business model doesn't work, at least in the sense of providing a game with staying power. ANet's always a hostage to their next sale under this revenue model, but not to keeping people playing. They rely on new content to keep people around/bring people back, but hurriedly releasing new content creates balance issues.
I don't see how this will change with a new game. If the design is sufficiently different that these problems won't crop right back up, I'll give it ago. If not, I already know where this road leads.

I for one will buy GW2 ..CE
I do hope they do not get influenced by Aion =GRINDFEST
That they keep there own ways of thinking as GW1 proved very successful by
the way the game was structured. As this will be 250 years later I do hope that it will be just as fun as gw1.

I'll be buying GW2, and likely the CE.
How they currently handle the game, with a very small team dedicated to it because the majority of their resources are going into GW2, really isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. And has nothing to do with how GW2 will be handled.

This.
Although some things like the open world in GW2 worries me. I don't like seeing other players because I'm a cold, single-playing asshole

I tend to agree with upier on this. I admittedly have stopped looking for new information on GW2, but from what I've seen it really looks like the best parts of GW have been stripped to turn it into a WoW clone.
I'll probably end up getting it, but so far I don't have any expectations of years of enjoyment like I got out of this game.

So far all we have seen is a trailer with next to no info on game play, thus any indications of a wow clone is just speculation. Also the handling of gw1 as of late is highly doubtful to be an indication of the handling of gw2, a totally new game. Besides, the content delivered over the last year hasn't been that bad, considering they admitted to having a smaller team, and imo anet's service pre-eotn has been pretty good anyway.

since i'm a smart person, i won't buy based on emotion -- for or against a purchase. Instead I will wait for the reviews, read the forums, and see if I like what I hear. If it does look like a WoW clone, forget it. If it looks like Anet hasn't learned from their mistakes (PvP/PvE linked too closely, impossible balance situations, grindtastic elements, poor support, poor decision making, etc), forget it. If it looks like GW2 was properly conceived and implemented, and that they've learned from their mistakes, then I'll buy.
I won't make my mind until I see what's on the table. I hope most of you aren't buying a car soon -- emotional mindset during purchase decisions are BAD.

Yes, I will be buying GW2. All this 'poor handling' stuff be damned. Like any other company, Anet isn't perfect. Blizzards precious baby and giant in the industry, WoW, isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows on the forums either in regards to their handing of their game, or their customer service.
...Then again, I could care less as to the name behind the game. I'm only interested in the game itself.
Our current Guild Wars game, although not perfect, is still number one for me and therefore I invested in the game for what it was, what it is, and what it will be.
If Guild Wars 2 ends up being a game that I would enjoy playing, I'll invest into it. If not, I won't. It doesn't matter what company is behind it; Blizzard, Anet, Turbine, EA, etc.
