Looking forward to see what people come up with. The piano version of the Guild Wars theme was pretty amazing.

I found a ton of possible entries off of DeviantArt and other sites with completely free copy/paste items we could all submit. I wonder if we could find something and have up to 500 people submit the same thing.
In all seriousness, I'm betting a stack of Onyx Gemstones right now the winning entry will be something that has nothing to do with Wintersday at all.

I don't understand whhy people say this kind of thing, the halloween entries were to do with halloween because people were dressing up! Just because Jora or Gwen arn't halloween related they were still costumes.

If i walked up to you and said do you want to see some art what is the first thing you would think of? and i bet you 100% you wouldnt say a costume. and thats why people say this. the title is a ART contest not a costume contest. If it was the other way around people would say the same thing. Add in the fact one of the items is a mini. no one would be mad if they added the mini and now this EL tonic to a end chest quest. ;/ it sucks only those with talent either in drawing or stealing someone's art will win. *sigh*

Costume making is art, FFS.
Just because it's not the first thing that leaps to mind doesn't mean it's not art.

My Wintersday art contest plans:
Step 1. Get crappy semi-Wintersday related tattoo.
Step 2. Winz0r one of the super rare tonics.
Step 3. Sell said tonic for either IRL$ or ectos/braces then IRL$.
Step 4a. Get banned and mope until I realize I made $3k on a virtual item.
Step 4b. Don't get banned and be stoked that I get to continue playing and have an additional $3k.
Step 5. Profit. No intermediate question marks necessary.

This.
I most definitely consider costume making an art form.
I also think that the prizes are appropriate. I don't know why people get all butt hurt over possibly not getting a tonic. Envy?
Making good art takes time, knowledge and effort, it should be appropriately rewarded.
Changing into a mini reindeer would be awesome, I'd LOVE it, but it's not the end of the world if I don't get to do that.
Also, what is the big deal in the winner getting a sh*tload of ectos and armbraces for their special items if they decide to sell it? A 1000 ectos are more than I can fathom, but I couldn't care less if someone gets a hold of them.
Contests are supposed to be fun and inspiring, and I'm certainly having a blast drawing up ideas and sketches for this one. The Wintersday Workshop thread in Nolani makes it even more fun and people there give you feedback for improvement.
Oh well, back to drawing ^_^

Of the 10 winners for the Halloween art competition, only three were 'drawings' of a sort, four if you count the tattoo guy... plushie candy corn guards and that awesome cardboard flesh golem are distinctly not 'drawings'... and that Golem really did deserve first place... it lost out to boobies. How can a cardboard flesh golem compete with boobs?
So, if you have no talent, cant draw for squat... make a vaguely wintersday themed costume and show off your tits (or get someone with tits to wear it for you)... bing! we have a winner, one free EL tonic coming your way.

Lost out to boobies that were...not actually visible and were completely covered up? Huh.
I've said it before and I've said it again. Costume making is most definitely an art, and 99.9% of people have no idea how much work, time, and money goes into making a good-looking, accurate costume.
The QQing over this is getting really, really ridiculous. What's the point of having a contest if there aren't good prizes? Okay, so the tonic will be very rare. I'm pretty sure that that's the freaking point.
