I am sorry to do this but I have got to ask; Do you want a little cheese with that whine? I have two accounts on my computer and two accounts on my wife's computer. All four accounts predate the introduction of XTH, they were purchassed to be mule accounts but we started playing them with the introduction of Z-Missions and Z-Bounties.
Back on topic; The only epic fail is that we don't know what is going on. Not a peep as to the status of XTH for over a month.
As for Regina, she said when she started this job that she is a Public Relations person, not a Customer (Community) Relations person. At this point I wish ANet would hire a Customer (Community) Relations person. Regina has done a lot to improve communications with the general public, for example Twitter and YouTube accounts. Not that I think any rational person would actually use Twitter but a lot of people do. Why do I say that, because Twitter has only recently started to protect thier users.

Agreed about these ideas. XTH was a good idea if they lowered the gains and kept it as an "encouragement" to look at PvP. But it shouldn't become a "need" like for the OP. If you want to PvP, you shouldn't need carrots (or only tiny ones ).

"become" an epic fail? XTH was always a bad idea.

^ This. Letting PvErs gain tournament reward points was a terrible idea I never endorsed, for it was meant to be the currency for PvPers to pimp their toons and nothing else.
Carebears that don't want to PvP, never will no matter the efforts. The very transition of GW from a PvP-centric to a PvE-centric game is solid proof.

Well at least when XTH was around, it made me watch the games but heck, taking the time to organize a GvG event in guilds where most people have quit, and the rest are not interested in GvG in the first place, is an epic fail. At least I dont have to keep reminding myself to post XTH results every month and I keep forgetting those.
And by the way, being envious of other players with multiple accounts and because of that, wanting XTH to remain down, is also an epic fail. I still gain a lot from good old Nicholas!

You said it yourself: "not interested in GvG in the first place". Anyone who'd rather farm than try to get a GvG started, was never cut for PvP in the first place (this was also true when the game was still brimming with activity).

Just so you know, I was against the XTH even before zaishen keys were introduced. Although economically favourable for ANet (it was their way to sell gold, PLUS it made it look as if they were selling copies of the game: win/win), the idea that PvErs would be able to access the same form of currency (RPs) that was specifically designed as a PvP reward while not PvPing made no sense to me.

It is not that I have absolutely no interest in GvG, but you need 7 other people to join for GvG at the required time since heroes suck in GvG.

And what form of currency are you referring to in GW?
Gold to buy armors with the same stats? Gold to buy rare skinned weapons with the same stats that nobody cares about except the filthy rich? Even though I have a lot of gold, I am still using my BMP weapons and greens because I dont feel compelled to spend huge amounts of money to buy over priced rares that bear the same stats (or less) as my greens.
I rather that all these useless stuff be more available and concentrate on coming up with interesting builds. Easy gold is not a pull for me to play this game and it never has. The game quality is more important, than the ability to get gold, in a game where most things are not really worth buying anyway.

The XTH was just a something for nothing, a way for lazy people to get money/items.
Why? I know peopls who solely logged on to check the XTH.
However, this concept of guessing seems to be popular with some people, perhaps in gW2 they can have a betting system for automated tournaments.

Gold is extremely easy to come by anyway. If you want to drive up the value of gold and commodities, then ANet shouldn't have introduced Nicholas free gifts and ZaiShen quests.
Even though it can be argued that these require alittle more effort than randomly guessing XTH results, they are still easy to earn. Even without XTH, there are still MANY other ways to benefit from having multiple accounts.
I dont really care about XTH now as I have given up all hope that it would ever be repaired. I have never felt that I needed to buy zkeys from other players either. The whole concept of zkeys is trash.
A true hardcore PvPer wouldn't be interested in chasing after zkeys in the PvE world anyway. A true PvPer wouldn't be jealous of PvE players earning zkeys from XTH since most of them only play with PvP characters. Nicholas gives me everything that I used to get from XTH.

Keep that piece of crap away and promote playing playing the game instead.
It devaluated the means of dedicated pvp players so whatever scarce value they could get from zkeys would be worth less due to mass influx.

True dedicated pvp players wouldn't care about zkeys since most of them only play pvp and only with pvp characters. Non-dedicated part-time players who pvp once in a while though is another story.
Zkeys were created because PvE players complained many times in the past that they get no benefit from their earned Balthazar's Factions whenever they pvp. So to make PvP more attractive to PvEers, ANet introduced zkeys which turned out to be an epic fail! I wish they would just remove zkeys altogether which is the cause of many flaming among PvEers. Remove the stupid zaishen emote and the stupid title. Emotes should be for PvP only.

Why the hell should PvPers have access to PvE rewards without ever stepping into PvE?
And not only that, PvPers also have the opportunity to completely bypass the supply - being able to craft PvE rewards in stats that are available AND in stats that are NOT available to PvE-ers!

That isn't balanced at all.
A XTH isn't a terrible idea, but it should require a monetary investment (gambling/betting?) and it shouldn't be able to wreck PvPers only form of making money. (zkeys)
|
The only way that this is true if the guy sucked at playing AND sucked at predicting.
Otherwise the guys playing ALWAYS has the opportunity to get more.
PvPers have the ability to create characters for free.
The NPC offering rewards does not adjust his prices depending on the amount of money in the game.
All prices, outside of the ultra rare market, dropped. Yet, these prices still hold their primary function - they are meant to exclude people. The only thing that potentially changed is who is excluded. And if you are excluded, that just means you aren't rich enough.
PvPers are in the same boat as PvEers. So, why should the rewards be regulated in such a fashion that the PvP rewards would NOT be wrecked while the PvE rewards ARE, especially when we take into consideration what I just said?
You seriously do not want to turn this into WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PvP WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH PvE!
Oh and I almost forgot - WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH PvE Tiger!

The people who complain about XTH seems to be more concerned about zkey prices in PvE which is irrelevant if you only play pvp and only with instantly created level 20 pvp characters. So they dont seem to be true dedicated PvP players to me.
The introduction of zkeys (not XTH) caused more harm than good as is evident in this thread.

Do you have any idea how the RP system initially worked? There was no way you could craft rare skins unless you were somewhat good at the game, because you needed to unlock the lower tiers first and the only way you could win RPs was through tournaments.
Also, there is one very important detail you're missing: red items are bound to that particular character. The only thing they do is make you look good in observer mode; they can't be turned into PvE gold, they don't influence the market whatsoever, they don't provide everything a PvEer can get.
With the introduction of zkeys, this concept fell apart.

You are paying for the luxury of not having to get to Cavalon to obtain that 1k Luxon set.
If a PvE players REFUSES to get to Cavalon - he can NOT buy that set.
And I don't mean "can not buy it" because it's insanely overpriced. I mean that as in
HE.CAN.NOT.GET.IT.
What you are basically saying is that if one makes the Phoenix emote available through PvE that will not have ANY kind of an effect on this game as long as only a select few PvE players can obtain it.
Yes?

Then you would also need to get rid of Zaishen quests and Zaishen Challenge farming for faction.
Honestly if they are willing to pay more money so they have a so called edge, why not. It's not like it is increasing their skill as a player. So they get a lil extra each month, big woop.
I myself often found that I forgot to make entries each month anyways, so it doesn't matter either way if it comes back to me. Although a solid "yes its coming back" or "no we gave up on it" would be nice.
