Default My Xmas gift from Anet:

...would be some motherlovin' communication.

And I don't mean Regina giving us an update on how hard you guys are working and other CR junk they teach everyone on the talking box.

I mean actually telling us what you are planning to do with certain skills, events, bosses, areas, etc. so we can either tell you how badly you are approaching it or how great a job you guys are doing.

You even promised to post which skills would be updated, how they would be changed, and why, and instead you only tell your Asurans so they can tell you what we have been telling you for years.

So please, tell us what is important (and I understand some stuff you can't tell us, but the last time someone posted what the skills were going to be in EotN, we instantly told them what needed to be changed JUST BY LOOKING AT THEM!!!)

Merry Christmas, everyone.

What would you like from them?

As far as I know, ArenaNet has never done this, and probably never will.

Doing so would be giving power traders a heads up on what the future economic trends will be. If a Shadow Form nerf date was announced, the hording of ectos would commence that very second.

My xmas gift from Anet would be to have them fix Guild Wars, but having them make any attempt to do so would just ruin the game even more.

The more they put into it, the worse it gets.

I would be happy just getting a yes/no on whether XTH is even on their to-do list anymore. :\

Problem with fixing guild wars is this.

Fixed to who's view of what's wrong.

I can guarantee that if they altered the entire game to one persons satisfaction it would still be broke in everyone else's view.

Best they can do is try to fix exploits and try to keep some interest in the game.
Can't think of any other 4 year old games that still get fixes on a semi regular basis.

I think that Diablo 2 was getting quite some updates for the first 5-6 years. Also Neverwinter Nights was pretty old when they stopped with the patches. I'm not going to say any MMOs because that would be unfair. L2, WoW, RO, CoH/V.

Lets be real here. They aren't and none of you are addressing the real problem. It's not the skill or the build or whatever.

It's the area itself. Anet's idea of hard is to buff up creatures to god like status and overwhelm you. It's cheap, it's a joke and that is what is bringing the game down more then anything.

These are reasons why people look for cheap builds. B/c the game is cheap. They need to balance the elite areas for all the classes not just one or two. ALL OF THEM. That could said about half the game too.

I'm not trying to say it should be super easy button masher gameplay. But when you need a god-tank that's when they should know something is wrong.

As much as I would like to see the end of SF and others. So I can play these areas as something else besides a sin or monk. Changing the skills is the wrong way to go about it. It won't get us anywhere expect to the next cookie cutter.

Edit: I wasn't saying you need SF or those to play those areas. But to the major public, its what they require half time you look for a team.

I agree with SpiritThief. I can't count the number of times I've died because the boss does ridiculous amounts of damage, while you are working with a HUGE penalty, plus an environment shaft, plus having 60% DP.

Honestly, if you want the game to be challenging, throw a couple different twists into the boss fight instead of just making him overpowered.

It seems to me that ANet creates these bosses with farmers in mind. They seem to think "Ok, if we overwhelm them right at the beginning, the farmers won't have a chance to make a build to solo this boss. Also, if we give it every ability from enchantment removal that can't be blocked, to doing insane damage per hit, then they can't farm easily."

What I'd like to see in a boss is perhaps something that always keeps the players thinking. Perhaps a boss with different "phases" where once you get him to a certain amount, he changes tactics and the party has to think differently. Or perhaps a boss that uses the area he is in against you where he can summon lava flows from cracks in the floor and they are constantly shifting. Or maybe a boss that splits himself into multiple images and only one is the real one.

Here is a good idea, how about a boss you have to kite to a certain area of the room. Then two people have to stand on platform switches which then activate some form of magic attack that hurts the boss. When he gets hit, he destroys the switches and you have to either fix them or lead him to a second set of switches.

Stuff like that would be really cool to have to do. Its different than the tank-n-spank that is predominant in the game.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game and its lots of fun, but it just needs some variety.

There are quite a few "scripted" bosses in the game.

Not nearly enough, but there's at least half a dozen or so. EotN also appeared to take steps towards that, as most of the bosses are unique, and have their own story kind of thing. It wasn't like Prophecies where you go in, and there's 5 bosses, all of them exactly the same besides their color.

I highly second this. Gaile, whether or not if there was miscommunucation between her and the live team or not, was at least in-game a helluva lot more than Regina has ever been. I really do miss Gaile's appareances in Kaineng and Kamadan international district.

Gaile and Regina have different jobs, you know. And quite frankly, while I mean no offense to Gaile, I see sometimes caused a lot of panic on the forums by spewing out what was otherwise unnecessary to the community.

That said, have some patience if you're waiting on an update so badly to the point of creating this thread. An update is scheduled this month, and there are a TON of multiple tasks Linsey and the others have to swap between working on aside from just the skill updates. But the skill updates are still coming this month. And what was planned was a bit bigger than other updates too!

I have a question for the Test Krewe team. Have you been able to cooperate with the Live Team in a sense that you were able to point out something they didn't think as a priority or give them some insight on something they didn't know before?

Since that seems to inquire about our job itself, any of us answering that question could probably get us kicked out very easily.

If you're lucky (and we are too), we'll get to tell you a little about how we influenced the next update after it comes out.
