Ugh... just caught that I can't wear my halloween hat in the costume slot... ok, that was a bad call. I've waited for that functionality for a looooooong time. Missed a good Halloween for the hat since I figured eventually they would add the feature. Now they do and it seems only for this costume or maybe available only after.

Like other's have said, guildwars is starting to show her age. Personally it doesn't bother me that they are adding a few micro's here and there for extra cash flow; albieit the costumes seem a bit silly to me. The other micro's they have come out with in the past atleast have had some function to help the player in some way without gamebreaking.
I gotta say though if micro-transaction's are part of the big plan from the start with gw2 I'll be pretty let down. They seem to sort of ruin the charm of a game and give it a cheap appeal, no matter what the game is.

Uhm... show your hat to the festival hat guy so it's "recorded" on your account... and then have him make you a new one for 10g. Presto... it will go in the costume slot. Not sure what the problem is here.
Anyway...
I realize this is somewhat of a frivolous update... but what can I say? They got my $10 for it. I totally dig on silly things like this that don't have any affect on the game so I'm totally jazzed with this.

All the more reasons to believe that Anet is having difficulties with the server upkeep cost.

The most pathetic thing is that THIS seems to be the promised New Content for Wintersday they have been so busy working on. How incredibly lame, way to milk
2nd most pathetic thing - people who think they support Anet and help them finish GW2 faster by buying those. LoL. The only thing you're contributing to is increasing the chance GW2 will be made entirely based on microtransactions from the grounds up!

I like for a few reasons. It's nice to have the cosmetic slots; other games do this, and it's taken GW a while to catch up. Granted, I know, GW1 is a "dying game" but what goes well in GW1 may also be in GW2. I like costume slots.
I don't mind playing the $10 for something that looks really neat, and people are having fun with it. And the update means we can now use the festival hats in the costume hat slot, too, which is pretty sweet. I like that.
I'm sure we'll see whole mobs of line dancers in these outfits, but you know what? I'm ok with that. I love how they look. And they're totally optional. And it's easy to get them (I'd rather have to pay than have a repeat of the mini polar bear incident, with lots of people trying to find out how to get something through some crazy ingame means).

But you aren't looking at the positive side of this.
At least that way you'll know that from the start so that you'll be able to walk right past it in the store.

Anet store is pretty secure. Im not buying this costume due to it being a bit ugly imo, i like my armor better.
But i have bought makeover packs and an extreme makeover pack, so i know ive helped anet a bit. Thats my part.

lol @t enjoying visual appareance for real money. What is "fun/enjoyable" in theses costumes ? Maybe roleplaying ppl can really using thems but is there any roleplayers left in GW ?
How strange are the community nowadays, they prefers visuals & ephemerals contents instead of real content. And they're happy buying it at all price (a.k.a aion's wings).
At the beginning we have the Sorrow's furnace at free, and then BMP, and then two costumes at 10 bucks. In 2010, they're gonna sells tonics or summoning's stones at 6$ each ?
It's also funny to see the live team said "we can't create new armors in Gw1 because design and arts are really time-consuming and our team don't have enough people for that".
Oh really ?

ya rly
Armor is complicated to implement in Guild Wars. I won't delve into the specifics, but it's a nightmare for the artists to perfect. They have better things to do than make another male dragon gauntlets.
Costumes, however, being a single piece, use a much simpler way of implementation, and don't require the complications that come forth when implementing stats, crafters, and all the rest.
Of course, Guild Wars' art is usually high quality if you put aside the horrendous armor clipping. So I imagine that the reason the armor is so expensive is because of just that. Higher price= Higher pay
And yes, I enjoy the visual appearance on my character. I also enjoy roleplaying and making machinima. What's wrong with that?

As it is, though, every armor in the game is exactly the same. The only difference is appearance. Give us some new gear. These micro transactions are just absolutely retarded.

And how are you gonna plan to make a game buy 2 play without micro transactions and keep it up. Compared to any other games you dont have to buy XP pots so you gain 200x the xp as a cheap dude who doesnt pay for it.
Its for the looks nothing else i bought it I support Anet all the way. :>

I personally don't think you should pay for something like that. It's like paying for your own Christmas presents.
Not buying this.
