Thank you Anet for taking your customer's concerns seriously. I like this, it should make it tougher for all the hackers and low lifes that steal peoples accounts.

Yup, this. Going to keep it checked, but sorta sucks when I got two accts. Guess copy+paste works too.

Lmao, read original post. No character accounts, you leave blank. Honestly sorry if anyone made a char on a new account and forgot the name. Support i guess lol.

That doesn't work if you log in to multiple accounts on one pc (like a main and a mule account). it remembers the last one you logged in to. So you end up entering it each time.

Type your character names into a document or something and copy/paste it when you log in.

This security update is one of the more visible steps we've taken to address the issue. We're continuing to actively develop other measures, too (steps that are not as immediately obvious).

I have a small spiral-bound notebook that I keep random GW stuff in (Account e-mails, tome prices, etc.)
I've logged character names next to the account name.
I just hope support can give me a "free login" to my accounts, or just tell me one name.
I like this feature, and on the flip side I don't. Some warning would've been lovely.

What a pain in the arse that would be. Copy and paste whenever I log in? blech!
However, I did find out that if using GW Multi Launcher it remembers the character name for whatever reason. (due to separate dat files maybe?). So i think I'll just use GW ML to launch my 2 accounts from now on. -password command works and it remembers all the other info. Then if anet addes a -character commmand, I can update my shortcuts to include that.

Too bad I created a LOT of accounts, back when the XTH was a steady source of (legal) income. Can't remember any of the names I gave the ZKey-earning placeholders on those accounts.
Then again, XTH is gone for good (in an attempt to save GW's economy, under the threadbare disguise of "technical problems"). So I most likely won't ever need them again.
Still...

Oh, I get what you mean now. I multi client so I do not have to worry about this at all. Essentially it's 1 entire GW.dat per account so it saves each account's info for me.
Well... Sorry for the people who need to re-enter it every time. Multi-clienting ftw? ^^

Learn to read, nothing is ungrateful in that quote. I've already contacted Support, and this is a great addition.

I lost progress on a mission I would much rather not repeat again. 3 of my guildies were kicked in the last level of today's Z-bounty.
It's nice to have it, but an update of this nature (one requiring a full restart) should really have been announced ahead of time. I'm not sure if it was even possible to log back into the instance you were kicked out of, but it doesn't look like anyone in my alliance was able to.
Having a few hours notice would have saved some of us alot of time.

Used a correct password and character name for my secondary account, but kept telling me it was wrong. Tried so many times, all it does now is pop op with "connecting..." that naturally, doesn't connect.
Not only that, but it does the same thing with my main account, which I was logged into before trying the secondary one.

Yes, pain in the arse big time.
I'd still do that over being hacked though.
I do remember all my character names everywhere, so this is no issue for me really.

Don't get me wrong. I like the added security for sure. No warning ahead of time from anet was a bit of an oops but I think I can understand why they might have done that. And GW ML remembers the info so I can always use that. Unless/until Regina finds out about the -character command, that's what my plan is.
