This Wintersday
Every wintersday it happens since they were announced the MPB (miniature polar bear) farm starts hundreds of people spend their wintersday farming like madmen for one and this year their were so many dropped price went as low as 500e for a small time my question is were did they all go? people are now charging 1500e^ for the minipets that seemed to have fallen off the face of guildwars. is it because the rumor that high end power traders are hording them and selling later as rumored or is it just because so many are being dedicated.

you were lied to.
the price was manipulated so people would think there were more on the market leading to people selling for cheaper leading to more powertraders making a ~1000 ecto profit (buy during event for ~500e, sell after for ~1500e)

How many is "so many dropped"? How many do you know for sure sold for bargain basement prices? A lot of the activity in town was jackasses doing the old offline come and find me routine for attention.

Prices of Mini Polars dropped during wintersday for 2 reasons.
1. Alot of people were fake-selling in order to make the value of them seem low.
2. People had expectations MPB would be cheap because they expected a large number of new ones to come on the market causing people to sell them for less, in order to prevent themselves from losing more money.
The reason they are higher now, is because there just aren't really that many out there. This year many people realized that the drop rate was so low, that it would be more productive to do other farms, such as the one in EotN, than to farm for the Polar. Thus not many new ones came out this year causing the demand to rise.

Answer: they weren't 500e. It was, as coil said, a manipulation to buy a cheap MPB and making a huge profit.

i don't think any polars sold for 500e, thought it would've been nice
we can never really know how many polars dropped. i believe most that were found however, were not for sale.
of those few that were for sale, i know a lot of power traders bought them without being too picky of the price (1300-1400e). then once wintersday finished, they successfully sold them for 1500e+

I dyed my mini Asuran white and made him walk on all fours, sadly he's a bad actor and nobody believed he was a mini polar bear, especially when he said "Moo!"
