THANK YOU!!!
the way I see it..
I have a house of cards. I could either leave it alone forever so it's the same boring house of cards, take tons of time deciding on which card I MIGHT want to add (and where), or, just say "look, might as well see what happens".
This game is stale. MEGA stale. Dartboard the hell out of it. Re-work a bunch of random skills to be totally different. Just anything at this point. I'm done worrying about "balance". I still consider GWs to be the MOST balanced MMO to date tbh.

Formats with older cards (Vintage and Legacy) and many times in the formats that rotate (Standard) will show you otherwise. I would not say Magic is about being equal since the game has turned to appeal to creature based decks with an occasional combo...with creatures. No love for the control type. So no I'm going to have to disagree because the game has its own power creep.
I quit playing because it's a game of how much money you have and not skill.

Since when abusing overpowered skills is considered fun?
You might as well run around level 5 mobs and casting Flare to one-shot them.

so play online, magic workstation has up-to-date mtg gamepacks.
control is just harder in nowadays standard, mostly since cspell and similar haven't been reprinted, but back in the old days or in extended...
i don't consider overpowered to be fun. but buffing useless, completely underpowered skills and overpowering them for a week, so they can balance them further out - i wouldn't mind.

Abusing is something that is done in a spiteful manor against the current of a gaming society. Our gaming society is near-dead. Why not mix it up so we can all goof off and play silly wild builds. It's only "abuse" when it's a serious context. This game is not serious. It's supposed to be fun. It's not fun either right now. *cough*

Any one else feel this way?

I feel you buddy, stopped playing last August but always been lurking around. I'm waiting for this month's update to (hopefully although doubtely) kill SF and see what comes up next.

...so just do. no one keeps you away. getting fun from the game is at least half your job, your attitude, your expectations, your involvement, your fresh look at the same old game. it's not fully developer's thing.

I have to go along with this I come and go with Guild Wars. Even came back after being hacked. Some good friends built up my account for me with awesome donations. But aside from that I just look at it for fun, not how much I can make or even how far can I get tonight. Just fun. No frustrations allowed lol. Some friends have come back to GW after like 6 months and they were pretty new before so it's been fun seeing GW the way they do.
But it is alot to do with my attitude and I know it.

Although I agree with you PERSONALLY, I don't agree with you overall. The game is only stale for people who have been playing for a long time. New players still have lots to do and explore. PvE and PvP both. No game is designed to be entertaining FOREVER. The amount of time I put into the game versus the amount of money I put into it makes me very pleased with my purchase. And I do want change, but I do not think it is needed for the game itself. PvP definitely needs a skill balance, and needs them regularly. But random fixes are NOT fixes. Without proper planning, random buff/nerfs make the game bad for periods of time. If you can't find fun things to do in the game, then find a new game. I played NOTHING but Guild Wars for close to 4 years. About 6 months ago I started getting bored with it so started playing other games. I still play those other games, and only play Guild Wars about 10% of the time I used to. Would I be happy to see a change? Yes, and it would possibly cause me to play more often than I do now. But I also know a large number of people who are still enjoying the CURRENT game. And I am not talking about people abusing the current meta (SF, 600/Smite, etc.).
So the game is stale for you. I feel the same way. However, I wouldn't not say the GAME is stale. Until I see MASSIVE numbers of people complaining that the game is boring and quitting, I'll just play as much as I want, and move to other games when I'm bored with Guild Wars.

Old cards aren't banned, they rotate out. Different formats doesn't make the game of Magic balanced as a whole. If you want to be good, you must have the money to buy the best cards. $20 here, $15 for that, $500 each for a set of something, etc. If you play formats that only have the new cards, it's even more expensive in the long run.

See this is where Anet had a better idea than WotC....instead of bringing out endless expansions, they decided to build a brand new game with much more content. I started playing Magic during unlimited and after a few more expansions I just got tired of where the game went. Completely out of control and the older sets wre better.
Guild Wars had a few expansions and Anet had the sense to see that adding endless expansions was not the way to go. I would've like to've seen one more to gives us more content to tie us over to GW2 but in the end I am really just waiting for GW2 to come out.
Now I just hope it's the game I hope it will be

Sometimes, but I cure it by playing games that get regularly updated.
Hell, even free-to-download and play MMOs get more updates than GW does by now. Check out Runes of Magic (I know the name is terrible) if you want a MMO that gets regular updates. It has a 4th expansion coming out soon, and it's still free.
Or just play console games. I prefer them nowadays.
EDIT: Oh, and one thing I'll never understand is why Linsey and Regina always complain/talk about how hard their jobs are (ask a TK friend if you have one), yet there are people out there doing it every day as a hobby. Some of the games are even well-balanced and fun, yet you never see the guys complaining about not having time and half the games survive solely on volunteers, micro-transactions, or donated money. I wish we had a Live Team that still cared enough to be passionate like that.
Just a thought.

Whether old magic was better than new is a matter of whether you prefer a summon meta or a sorcery meta, new is the former, old was the latter.

I took a long hiatus from GW. Started playing one month after its release, and kept playing religiously for 3-3.5 years. But it finally grew old and I more or less quit playing up until a month ago. Came back, same old game but I find it fun again. Started a paragon (one class that I never got into) and am rolling another necro that I'm playing with a friend from another MMO (you know the one ). So my advice is just take a break find something new, and you'll eventually get the urge to play again and it'll feel fresh and new

...dude I follow you and many others on the wiki talk pages all the time on reggies and lindsays... and they do complain and never come clean to apologize when they've screwed up. I don't care if this is a F2P game, if you say you're going to do something and don't do it, that's ridiculous! Then they complain and give typical excuses about how hard their job is....
