Well, I liked the Grenth costume and the mantle outfit with the blade hood is looking pretty good too.
Though anet may want to use different pics to advertise these costumes. When I first saw the pics it was just ugly. But seeing some of the screenies here they actually look way better than I first saw. The pics of the costume on www.guildwars.com are too small and the screenies are half body and the colours just seem to make the costumes bland.
Oh, and I really wish I could get mantle plate armour, though I guess they had to make an outfit that fit all professions. Warriors can wear the robes, but casters would be strange in the plate armour I guess.

bought both, thought I'd share my purple version. They're cool, I'm alright with spending the bucks for these to support the game.
Heh, weird, my monk is not used to heels
And I put my ele in silver with the crown, looks nice I think.

Costumes look pretty good imo, not going to buy until a costume comes out that I just have to have.

I bought the set. I like the look of them both!
To those that are complaining about no skill update. Most updates these days are skill updates. Suck it up and deal with the first real content update in about a year.

I bought the wintersday costumes, but I probably won't be buying these. Totally not feeling the white mantle costume. The shining blade one looks a little better, but I like my armor better.

I have no problem with the micro transaction method, if you dont want, dont buy, dont complain, the rest of guildwars is still free to play. Ive purchased them, cant say im over keen on any, but ill wear them and parade round in them until I switch back to my usual. If anything the hoods quite nice, goes well with many of my armors.
What I am looking forward to is to see where this war in kryta thing is going, hoping for some nice new quests, and ideally areas, and the fact there free, who can complain if its just leading the story to a GW2 purchase, so what!
Final note, if micro transactions are sneaking in more and more, what I would like to see is something I can enjoy, a new area, a new quest string, a side story, we dont need new maps, theres plenty of undiscovered areas to use up (or just do it like sorrows furnace and have it as a off map experience). Either way having it via a NPC who warps you to this new zone (And refuses your party if anyone in it does not have the said addon) gets around any new portals or revamps of areas (Anyone whos played borderlands, its addons work wonderfully). Be this in whats left of GW1 (unlikely) or as a method for GW2.
Thats my 2p, and its not a rant, im happy, nice one ANET on some new content and for keeping the game going

That is considering Regina has already said in her journal (which people have posted in other threads, and in one case created a thread about it, that they are working on a skill update as well.

Why do people imply:
- that we won't get a skill balance
- that the War in Kryta is done with costumes
... when I read this all around the forums?

We probably won't get the full picture until the 5th Year Celebrations - which are yet to come, go figure!
Also, I wonder what 3D artists working on costumes could have done to speed up the skill update...

You must wear a costume to participate in the coming events.
My predicted speech from gaile grey. Or something like Pvp will now be fought between White Mantle and the Shining Blade! In 6mnths if anyones left on gw1 servers we will switch it to Luxons vs Kurzicks. Then 6mnths later when theres only Demon Haze (ele fow kamd1 guy) we will switch it to Sunspear vs Margonite. Then we will shut off guildwars server forever. All conflicts will have been settled.

Haha , i can smell too those quests requiring costumes ^^( like infiltrate white mantle camp , etc... ) .
But , actually all updates are getting so predictible , it would be nice to have some not at all expected update , logical and efficient ones ( SF was supposed to nerf all SC areas , in fact , usual farmers cant rly use it anymore for boss farming , or random area , whilst SC areas are still doable with it )

I like the costumes, I really didn't expect them to be nice!! I never buy anything in the game, but if I usually did it, yes, those costumes would be worth it, especially the blade one.

Selling items that actually change or enhance your gameplay - dmg, speed, w/e boosts- is totally nay.
Selling items that only alter your appearance, though? /shrug. No harm in doing so, really, but there's definitely a tipping point where you have an *absurd* amount of "costumes" in the store (something I hope never happens in any game).
So yeah, fine with the costumes. Just wish you could hide 'dem hoods...

I agree with you, iam 100% ok with the costumes and i love them but i hope they add like 2 every 5-6 months so we dont get a stored filled with cosmetic stuff.

What he wrote.
So far, nothing you can buy at store effects your performace in game and thus does not put player at disadvatange in pve or pvp grouping.
Lets see how that goes in the future...

The reason why we are so objected to this,is because it's time an resources wasted that could be put towards the good of the game as a whole. At this rate, they could have made a nice little purchaseable expansaion (scrap costumes, scrap the weird Zaishen update). Hell they did the BMP pretty quickly.
