Funny how I heard a speach about that last night from my university veterans. While it's true, life just isn't the same if you don't expect anything from anyone, it's just insipid. And god they're right.

This.
While it's good they're adding new stuff, it's been going on for half a month. And yes it's not supposed to be a whole lot of content not now at least, but the hype is pretty much gone. It's becoming a routine checking for new info and get like 30 seconds of amusement from NPC chatter. By the time stuff starts happening it'll be just... "Ok it's cute but... meh." I know it can't all happen in one day or one week but to go as far as several months for a handful of quests isn't a good thing by any angle.

Guild Wars is at end of life, its not a priority for the developers. They aren't going to be introducing alot of updates for it, their attention is on the sequel.
You may want more for Guild Wars, but that doesn't mean its going to happen.
If it does, great, if not, oh well. You could spend alot of time and energy being angry about that, or move on.

I give Anet alot of credit, I think thier support is very good by todays standards. And GW1 is one of the best games of all time IMO. I could write a report on all the things I love about it.
However.....
I cant help but feel like Anet is Lucy and were Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.
I just wish they would be ready to play when they ask us to come outside.

This kinda thread again...
For those that dont know/cant be bothered reading the other threads here, the stuff got delayed cause of Lindsey's back. There probably would have been more stuff during the Anniversary week, but when your lead designer of a small team is laid up in bed, there is nothing much you can do.
as for people complaining about the speed or lack there of, I actually kinda like this. It is interesting to see this stuff unfolding rather than being slapped in there. Besides, I wouldnt be surprised if it was slapped in there that people would complain that they went through it too quick

Yeah, like how they announced a GW2 beta in 2008. :rolleyes
People are still whining about being lied to be Anet about that.
Just do something else with your time, instead of 'is it there yet, is it there yet' all day long.

I doubt the war in kryta is something recent they just pulled out of there ass, linsey getting a recent back injury shouldn't affect it. This whole war in kryta is just a way to connect the lore of gw1 and gw2 for marketing.
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the Gamespot interview and it shows a screenshot outside of ToA with the first scene and it says "Much has changed in Guild Wars since the game launched" when all they did was recycle monster skins from pre-searing the very first gw area.

They announced that it was coming. Then they do this slow IV drip of info. If you don't announce things prematurely, you don't get disappointed people. You think they would have realized that after announcing GW2 when EOTN came out. I believe that we would have gotten another expansion for GW1 had they known it was gonna take them this long. I also believe the fourth year celebration was so special because they believed that GW2 was going to be out by the 5th year celebration and it would have been the last time that GW1 was the relevant game in the franchise.
People are right to be upset that they released the stuff they could sell to us for real world money on time but not the in game content.
I am tired of being told one thing and then it doesn't happen. If you can't keep your word, don't say it. If you don't say it, I can't hold it against you.
Also, a quick, "Hey, we goofed this one up. Our bad." would go a long way in all of us cutting them some slack. Problem is, all we get are empty promises these days, and no apologies for them not keeping their word.

GW2 was announced long before EOTN was released along with a detailed explanation of why they were making it and leaving the stand alone expansion model for GWs behind.

If you don't know the difference between what they actually said and whatever watered down version of history that you are posting now that seems to be more your problem then theirs.

How about a quick "I'm sorry" for misrepresenting anything that Anet actually said or didn't say?

I know about Lindsey, and i'm sorry for her, but as they still need a month of work it means it wouldn't have been ready with or without her problems. Unless she's been ill for a long time and that would be a different thing.
But, they do what they can, just let down for not having an event when we were expecting one.

Thats interesting cause I can see we are reading into things differently. you are saying they need a month of work? The way I read it is that there is a months worth to roll out before all of it is in the game. They are doing a gradual roll out, not an 'all in one hit', which is the reason I read it this way.
For those saying 'Lindsey's back shouldn't have interfered with it': This is the live team. quite small, hey.

Ok maybe we've got things interpreted differently, for me "we’ve got probably another month to go before you’ll see everything that we’ve got to celebrate the fifth anniversary." meant they still need a month of work, but maybe you're right. I don't have the elements to give a sure interpretation, so let's just wait and see (I'll get popcorn).

That's not exactly what was said, and a few people have already misinterpreted it, so I will clarify:
Linsey said that the remaining 'War in Kryta' content will be released over the period of about a month. She didn't say it would take a month to release.
As others have mentioned, they've also had problems because of Linsey's back issues. She's the live team lead, and when she's in too much pain to get up and go to the office that's obviously going to put a dent in their schedule. Does it suck? Sure, but spare a thought for Linsey for whom it sucks the most. Regina has posted about this already.

cause nobody likes a fanboi....
on the other hand, people do like information. and when there's a dam put up but no water flowing people start to wonder, where is the water for this dam?
my only question is this: sure, linsey is the lead. but to not release anything without her is odd...because one would imagine for something that should have been as big as an anniversary celebration/viral continuation of the warinkryta, these things would have been created, tested, and approved for release at least a week before the actual anniversary/release date yes?
so to say quite bluntly, "sorry school, there are no lessons today because the principal is out sick, expect a new lesson in about a month til the principal gets better" is odd, at least to myself. one can only wonder if they were so far behind that they actually had nothing ready for release and actually can't release anything without her approval.
i don't know how they work, and i could be completely wrong, but this may help explain the thought process of those questioning what's going on.

And once again, I put the link: This is the live team..
You have 2 designers (including the lead) and one programmer. The rest are either community relations or QA. given that for this project they are rolling things out on a week to week basis (maybe a tad longer), having one down will have a significant affect on the team.
Your school analogy is way off base. It is more like 'Sorry kids, we wont be having class today because the teacher is sick and we cant replace her.'

The difference being, of course, that you're not choosing to pay ANet or not. You've already made that choice, you've played the game, you got your money's worth. Your choices right now are to either continue playing the game, or put it down. Either way, you're not spending any more money.

- It will happen.
- When?
- Later.
- When is later?
- Do you know when are we know?
- Now?
- Yes, now. Now we are at 'now'. Well, it will be 'later'.
- And when it's later?
- After now.
- And when it's now?
- Now.
- And when it's later?
- Later.
Yay!
Don't worry, you can be sure it will be waaaaaaaaay before the Black Mesa source mod, the Tron Killer App 2.0 mod, Duke Nukem Forever and SIN:Episode 2.
We just feel impatient because we want it really bad.
Just remember that time periods reported by devs are usually in what 'experts' so call "Valve time".
