When I read that gamespot article(link is on the guildwars.com main page) I was a little disheartened that they said the content was going to be rolled out over the course of this year(2010). I would imagine that we will be getting a quest or two here for the Fifth Year celebration, but now I totally don't expect the amount of content that we got in last year's celebration. I feel like that year was particularly large because I think the team thought they would be done with GW2 or close enough to it that this year's wouldn't matter as much. I think that is why we are seeing this viral campaign so dominant because the live team can put out "content" in the form of propaganda out of game. The trickle of in-game content has been almost nil. I feel really bad for the people that are going to have to run out into Talmark Wilderness like 7-8 times just to see all of the conversation screens before they can get a new quest amid all of this "new content" which really isn't game content. It's merely conversations between NPC's that move at a turtle's pace. I went and read over last year's content update, and it really is the largest one they have ever done for a B-Day celebration. I am losing hope that we will see anything majorly new to gameplay this year. Stoked on the Mesmer update that is supposed to be happening in May, but I won't hold my breath for either of these things. Technically, the costumes are in-game content, but they don't enhance gameplay nor should they. We will see, but I really don't think anything major is going to happen yet.

Not expecting much of anything
I hope GW2 takes everything good from Prophecies and ditches all the garbage they added in the last 2 expansions (PvE skills + Heroes, mainly)

We can understand the concern, Gli, but there wasn't anything suspicious meant by the removal of the log-in announcement. The truth is that the message went live before the web content was ready, so we needed to take it down to make sure people weren't being sent to a page that wasn't found.
There was no hidden meaning or message behind the removal. Sometimes accidents happen because we're human too

I never thought there was an evil conspiracy at work.
Though, you might want to consider that there are more than a few old players who don't follow everything happening around the game anymore, and who often don't log in to play for extended periods until there's been an interesting update. Not using the regular channels to inform people about interesting new things happening in the game isn't doing them a great service.

Honestly though man, a viral campaign isn't for players such as yourself. It's for the people that are still here. No offense to you, but there were quite a few articles over the last few weeks on major gaming websites that talked specifically about all of this.

Sounds to me like preaching to the choir.
There might be more people here if content updates such as the Shining Blade camp and the Gwen/Thackeray conversations made it into the update notes or the newsletter I signed up for, the one that never seems to tell me anything new except for when there's something for sale.

I stopped wasting my time on this game and am not interested if Anet adds anything. We (you actually) probably won't get anything interesting as we are used to.

Still I cannot understand such comments... Do you guys really get excited with GW PvE and SpeedClears?
No offense, but I stopped playing (didn't play too much PvE - it was always too boring) and now I can see how unbelievable some attitudes are
It seems so strange and weird from outside (just saying).

I never got the fascination with Weapon Skins myself. Ooooh, look you'll never see this skin ever but never mind the fact that it's exactly the same stats as every other weapon out there. I mean some skins are kinda neat looking but from a gameplay perspective why should I really care?

thanks for the daily Z-Quests. I now have a daily activity I can do if I want to play GWs. I used to come on and just farm away the day, but you nerfed that (not bitching, just noting). I've become very bored with the game and it'd be nice if you added something new to entertain me.
What should you add? I don't know, that's your job- you're the "experts", I'm just a player.

No new content officially makes this the most Boring. Anniversary. Ever.
It frustrates me to no end that Anet didn't capitalize on the 5th anniversary and the released GW2 information to pull some players back into the game.
However, there is good news. I got 4 accounts from friends who've officially given up on GW/GW2. Yay......I guess.

so I will call this anniversary the 'opportunity lost' anniversary. (see Karate Jesus' post).
