I sent it in to Anet and I didnt see that guys screen name on for at least three days. I didnt like getting that guy suspended, but it just goes to show Anet does respond to this kind of thing. I admit I wasnt paying attention, and the trade was for something like 15k. So the money wasnt the issue it was the principle.
Indeed I have been scamed such as the collect for cons and then leave during loading screens. And every time Anet responded by suspending the scammers account. I am not sure but think it was around 72 hours of suspension. This is something in my experience Anet resolves fast and in a good way. (not 1 hour tho)

It wasn't a scam. It was a mistake, by OP.

Boo-hoo. Just because I once got robbed doesn't make it right for me to go steal everyone else. Poor guy why? He of all people should know how beeing scammed feels, and it's his fault he got scammed. If that was me, I would have gladly kissed the 90k goodbye, rub the report in his face and followed through with it - or take the cash and do it anyway.

And for all you know, he could have had a storage tab full of ecto stacks, all you have is his word in wich he already showed you should not trust it. The only thing that got him to move is ass and give you your money was the threat of account ban.

Ok... Scamming does not really exist anymore with all the fixes done to trade window years back. The only thing left is carelessness. The old, W/A "drop it to check it's real" trick... "10k=100k/100g=100k" yea. That's carelessness. Not to say it's great that it worked out for you in the end, but it's still pretty silly. Anet doesn't reemburse money in game anyways. If you lose all your things, tough luck.

Tough love's a bitch but you learn quick.

So are we 9? Sorry to say i agree with Prey. If you put in too much or too little that is your offer that YOU are responsible. A simple "i was tired, it was an accident" doesnt cut it. If you offer me 70k for 1 con set ill sell it to you for that. Who am i to decide if that wasnt what its worth to you. Im not here to listen to your "oops it was an accident". You are responsible for your offer and must hit SUBMIT and accept. You already have your warning right there. Id be glad to show any scrub that being ignorant is no excuse.

I'd have to disagree with Prey, scamming isn't a case of beating a bad player, it's just a lazy scumbags way of trying to get ahead at the expense of others, it certainly doesn't make you a 'good player', quite the opposite really...

But then, this wasn't a 'scam', there was no deceit, no clever trickery involved... someone failed to check the trade window and got taken advantage of. Not a scam.

Seriously, if you endorse scamming, you're a worthless RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing scum bag, worse even than the botters.

So if you dont like, just beat it

Sorry but if he confessed to scamming you because he himself just got scammed and was trying to recoup his losses, how on earth does that make you feel sorry for him?

You didn't get scammed. You clicked Accept and didn't pay attention to the trade window. ANET should of done nothing. The guy that "scammed" you should have told you to pound sand. If ANET banned this guy because you did not pay attention they are the idiots.

I can't believe you would even try to dispute this. Your mistake. You should have ate the loss and moved on. Take it like a man next time.

Oh yeah you left your char name on the screenshot.

Yeah, god forbid that we can expect or hope people are decent to their peers or that people won't make mistakes. Though, I guess if we set our standards low enough, we'll never be disappointed in people. To be honest, I'm glad to hear that ashes got his money back. He knows he messed up, and apparently so did the person who tried to rip him off. I think it's a nice story .

The way I see it, it's not okay to be an asshole at the expense of someone else.

There was an agreement to the amount to be paid. The other party failed to follow through. Just because the second guy accidentally/hurriedly clicked accept doesn't mean that he renegotiated the value.

If I sold a tire to you in the real world for $20, and you gave me a $10. When I confront you about your error and you say "Sorry, you accepted the $10." I would punch you in the damn face and take the other $10 out of your hide. Since we can't do that in game, consider a ban via Anet being the punch in the face that you deserve.

Great news that the scammer payed up and you got your money back.

You are very lucky though. ANET would have done nothing for you otherwise. They would have said that it was your fault for not looking at the trade accurately and you were the one who accepted the trade.

I used to see Scam bots in The Temple of Ages trying to buy ecto for 7K but putting 7g in the trade window. The Same bot was there for well over a week after i reported him. So my faith in ANET support for trade scams is non existent.
