Yeah I by no means see this as a "grind" and really until I see a use for getting more than 1 character up to date I'm fine with just my war doing the war in kryta content.

I got 10 chars through to LA Keep, and have been doing the quests daily on them. So far it has been quite a bit of prep work, and the royal gifts haven't been fantastically rewarding (opened ~50, mostly junk, a few of the new consummables). I'm hoping that whatever the new war medals are for will make all this effort worthwhile. And if not, I'd just be grinding some other part of the game anyways, so no big loss

That is my issue: It is a bit messy. You need flowchart.
What flow chart? Your link leads to a useless picture, not a flow chart. As for a quest log, why? You don't really need one. By the time I got my second toon through I knew what I needed to do and where I needed to go. The first time I needed the wiki step by step, after that I'm good.

That way all you'd have to do is double click the book to see how far into the unfolding story you are, with a small paragraph to refresh your memory on each "stage".
Now, that is good idea.

Yay, thread having usefull output!

That would work well too.

We also have "Call of the Eye" status, so somethig like that would work quite well.

While this is true, and I agree, it still is very bothersome to have to do all this on multiple characters. You lose track at some point. You play a bit one day, log off, do something else on a different character the day after, etc. After a while, you just don't know anymore.
It's nice to go hunting, but some sort of log to keep track would be helpfull.

Why not a book, like MOX's manual, just to keep track. It could check off every encounter and dialogue there is, and you can delete it after you've seen everything there is to see. Heck, they could have let the royal gift collector give you one gift for a full book. That way, you still have to go search for all ecnounters, but at least you'll know what you've done with your characters so far.

edit: damn, -vodka- beat me to it :P great minds think alike eh?

While everyone keeps ranting/whining/w/e about mini/mesmer buff, no one seems to mention about the new mobs with this update. Overall, i think the new mobs are well balance, dual professions and kinda fun.

The courrier falken or w/e his name is, reminds me of dynamic content or system they said about in gw2 and he spanws randomly too!

Well I for one am loving all the new content but I'm disappointed with the guild wars guru community! Many of you complain about how "ANET doesn't give us any new content" yet when they release something new that not only adds not only new depth to a game that is 5 years old, but also links it into a sequel (guild wars 2 for the people living on mars that haven't heard about it!)

Also, I don't know how you can talk about the "grind" of having to get a character to play through dialogue and sequences and new content when I'm sure that some of you regularly grind and farm to make money or whatever else! Perhaps instead of complaining, appreciate the free content which is given to you.

Yes I agree that perhaps ANET could have given themselves a bit more credit and actually posted some more information on 'War In Kryta' but then, as you've already said, how they have done it, allows for a far more authentic version of what this game was originally about, an adventure, discovering a mythical world with other people. I mean, do I dare say this could actually inspire people to play together outside of their alliances, or cause people to ask others in game what is happening because wiki doesn't have any information on it yet? I for one hope so!

Think of it this way guys: if you were on the guild wars content development team and you saw the lack of support the guru community shows for you, would you feel like bothering to make the effort next time or indeed in guild wars 2

I'm holding on to my war supplies for now until I know what the medals are for.

They're stacking up pretty fast, at 36 per Falken run. (1 character + 3 heroes doing the work, 2 other accounts just there to click on Falken at the end. )

Biggus Shlongus: I think you are attributing this way much whining and negativity that was meant to be (zero actually). Besides, no-one bashes idea of WIK actually happening

It certainly looks that way: Recruit new allies -> Keep becomes avaiable to players; Courier events start happening. Possibly further tiggering something in future as new stuff gets added.

There is, of course no devolving back (i.e. if you let your allies die often enought, you do not loose keep access and do not have to regain it and negotiate for new vanguard unit to be sent).

The problem is that GW1 has limitations that GW2 will not. Since all the areas are instanced, we have to personally start and follow each event chain. There is no way to come in on the middle of a chain started by someone else, as would be the case in a persistent world. This may also have some elements of the personal storyline of GW2, since obviously many of the events are only going to happen once per character and will never reset or recycle (since that would make no sense.)

I agree, though, that this whole situation shows that GW2 is going to need some good tools to prevent mass confusion. The lack of logs, books, or NPCs to speak with about the context of current events is a problem in GW1.

Thanks for flow chart - that makes a lot of sense to me.

Keep up the good work.

I might as well ask since no one else seems to care...how is this not bannable?

How is it different from taking 2 other people to leech?

Nice chart! now I know what is going on...

okay, so some background: been playing GW for years now, but only very lightly during the past year or so. I log it to play RA sometimes and to dink around with finishing this or that mission.

When this new event came out, since I didn't come to the websites, I actually didn't know there was an event.. at first I thought it was just new costumes.

Then I started looking for info on the wiki, but it was pretty vague about how this worked as well..

Generally, I think I agree that there needs to be something more in game to clue you in.

I love the grassroots feel of the recent content updates - they seemed to curiously coincide with me getting involved in ARGs (Alternative Reality Gaming) and the information is disseminated much like it is in an ARG, just left and waiting for someone to decipher it. Its awesome.

The thing that I think sucks is that the items thackery needs are a PITA to get alone. If you don't have them from an event or quest, GL trying to find them. Take the honeycombs. I used them after I got them because I never thought, hmm there's going to be a new event 2-3 years from now that'll require them. Apple ciders? My characters don't drink so I didn't keep any that I got.

The only reason why it is added is because it does matter. ANet have to try and manage to hold onto their player base for GW2 with as little investment as possible. So, given that they spent hard cash on developing this in the game, it's pretty stupid making it so obscure that a very significant number of people won't play it and hence wander off to other games because GW is dead.
