If I was banned for nothing I would obviously be upset, but on the other hand I'm pretty sure I'd have my account back in that case.
I already play several different MMO's, I switch between them so I don't burn out completely.
But the whole "I'm not getting GW2 because I was banned for botting GW is silly."

If the recent account ban hit me, I would have been already using bots to play the game for me. Really, what would I care about a game I was already not playing?
This mass ban actually makes me more likely to purchase GW2. If this is what we can expect in GW2, I'm all for it.
As someone else said in another thread.
"GW2. Now with fewer scumbags!"

Totally agree with that. It just shows Anet is more dedicated to GW than we all expected, and in return this attitude might be reflected on GW2. Let's hope so ^^

OP, do you mean the botters who were caught and banned, or are you asking us a hypothetical question about innocent players who didn't bot getting caught up in the bot sweep and suffering an unjust ban?
In the latter case, it would depend on how well (and how quickly) the support at Anet (NCsoft) dealt with the matter and restored the account.

Well someone said in another thread that Anet is supposedly already beginning to reverse some who did bot and are being soft. So maybe even then you could get your account back. Personally I hope Anet doesn't act soft. They should keep all of them permabanned.
Although I'd be pissed, I'd know that it was me who did something wrong, not Anet. In this case I would buy GW2. However, I won't be buying GW2 for other reasons that ARE Anet's fault and have rubbed me the wrong way (where the hell are the scythes in GW2?!)

Originally it was aimed at players who are currently still able to enjoy playing, but if anyone banned wanted to answer, plz don't use this thread as troll bait.

Anet didn't burn the botters, they did this to themselves.
So what you should be asking is are people who got banned stupid enough to go to buy another game then cheat again?

I'd still get GW2. I'd be really disappointed that I wouldn't be able to play GW1, but I doubt I'd buy everything again. I've got enough other stuff to play that I'll be occupied.

I'd fight tooth and nail for my account - I don't bot, and the only 3rd party program I've ever used with GW was cartography texmod. So, my banning would be a consequence of being falsely banned.
I expect a small amount of those banned ARE banned wrongly, but only a negligible minority. So few, in other words, that individual reviews will make sure the innocents' accoutns are reinstated.

People who actually KNOWS how to bot would not be deterred by the ban at all. If they're smart they would've transferred all their botted loot from a secondary account to their primary one using a proxy and Anet can't prove anything, unless they personally check the history of each account.
More sophisticated botters could have even sold all their botted loot for real life money, then they could not care less about banning. They could use their real life money (from botting) to buy another account to bot and/or re-buy in game gold on their primary account.
The ones that actually would forget GW are the semi-casual players that probably only started botting because of the ghost town state that the game had become after the "great nerfing"
Personally, I probably would forget GW AND GW2 if I ever get banned (which I won't :P), because its already getting hard for LEGIT players to actually find a group, because this game probably has the most anti-social community in all online RPG. So if I get banned because I decided to bot (which I won't) or falsely banned I won't really care.

1. Being banned won't stop players from buying a new game.
2. Being banned won't stop players from cheating again.
3. Banned players quite often re-purchase the game. It's the whole community thing that is an attraction. Plus they think they have "put one over" on ArenaNet by getting a new account.
4. Even 10,000 bans wouldn't affect sales of GW2 in a detrimental manner. It is more likely to encourage people to purchase it, knowing that they won't have to play in a bot-friendly world.
5. ArenaNet has always revisited bans if you have proof you weren't botting.

There's some funny facts about all three of these listed.
1. players willing to buy again have too much money to burn.
2. a cheater who never changes will always be a cheater and often make the same mistake twice.
3. one can delude himself into believing "he's won", but in the end the dealer is the one who's running off with his money. (Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...)

*cough* gold sellers are making megabucks with botting. The one are bored with the game to begin with are probably the ones that got banned. Its probably why Anet loves to indirectly get rid of them by nerfing a whole bunch of legit farm builds. The people that bots would've otherwise been farming if they don't bot, and since forum people hates both, nerfing legit farms would kill two birds in one stone...until the recent massive surge of PvP bots and slightly more intelligent PvE ones that they can't just attempt to get rid of with a stealth nerf.

They all get taken care of eventually. It'd be easier if I didn't have to stick with "in the same dist" rules...

I've been playing GW since September 05, and even though I've had my own low interest periods, I just hang back and let it breathe for a while (aka not playing) and play minesweeper with my foot.
Then when my feet start to ache too much I visit GW one again. Rinse and repeat, no need for bots. The closest to botting i've done is adding UT sounds to the game on every kill, but that doesn't give me any extra edge whatsoever.
