I'm not computer literate, but I'd really like to help out on that if my presence would be of any aid. Unrelated, but would it be possible to revert skills on a localized GW or even make new skills...? Also there'd definitely have to be 8/12 hero slots.
Yes, I want an offline mode, mainly so I can balance skills myself and not have to deal with morons.

I would really want a private server option if anet decides to pull the plug on their servers, at which i would be able to download all my account data, such as my storage, inventory and ofcourse all my characters.
If i recall correctly anet stated once that they might consider that option once the game servers are going down, in the end i did spend well over 350 euros on this game and it has certainly been worth it, but still, a private server would be great.

Good point!
Although if there was an option to buy a package that does all the things the game does now i would instantly buy it, a sort of dedicated server pack that has all the data you mentioned, but the dat file is still client only, where you still have to login to like we do now, which would allow internet based servers, or lan servers.
I wouldnt care about the disk space it might need xD

If you want to feel like your playing gw alone why not go to an inactive language district.

I see where you coming from on this but after gw2 is out gw1 is still going to be running. gw1 is fun but I can't wait to move on and upgrade to gw2.
If they did decide to give gw1 as an offline mode it would be bad business sense because it would give people who never tried gw before a reason to not buy gw2 or never buy gw1 now and just wait.

I don't think anyone is saying Guild Wars is not going to be running after the second one comes out. I doubt it will be running for years after it comes out though, and an offline version we can come back to when we're bored with GW2 or anything else would be great. If it is given an offline mode, I don't see how it will stop anyone from buying GW2. Seeing as GW1 would already be down and if you're wanting to play a MMO game relating to Guild Wars, most people would choose to go to the second one if the first one is down. And to not buy GW1 now and just wait? Wait for what? I'm not completely understanding this point.

Well i dont know if it would be a bad business decision, at the very least it would be great free advertising for guild wars 2, and as long as anet doesnt confirm a private server to be available after their main service stops, people will still buy the game.
In the end if you keep playing gw for a 1000 hours on your own private server you will have done everything anyways, so then you want more, and gw 2 will offer it for you, the only downside is no hom transition from a private server, but well thats not really important enough to skip gw2.

anet should make a "virtual" private server option that calls back to the main server on a regular basis (like once very 30 seconds) to ensure that everything running on the virtual private server is legit, and also to update all player achievements/inventory/whatever so the two remains in sync.
don't ask me how to do this; but i'm pretty sure it's possible.

If it meant there were 8 100 man guilds, 4 for PVP and 4 for PVE, connected DAILY, I would say lets go for it.
