Seeing Anet get serious about the bot problem actually got me back into the game. I was playing only about 3 hours per month and now I'm logging in again about 5 days per week.

Same here and even nearly all my old guildmates have returned since the major banning. GW is alive and well and you know how doomsayers are if they don't like a game then it's dying. lol I'd say it's growing a bit as outposts and cities I used to go to that were barren are starting to get population again. Get rid of the bad eggs in a basket and you can add new ones and people will buy them again.

Uh... I've been bored with Guild Wars plenty, but I didn't bot. Try something different like taking a break from the game. The thing is... if you are bored with Guild Wars then why bother botting? It makes no sense.

Guild Wars is a really good game. I know if anyone who knows me read this they'd be laughing because I have insulted Guild Wars so much, but it's because you get burnt out after awhile. All in all, it's the best Massive Multiplayer game. AND it's free.

It's disrespectful to everyone to bot. The fact that anyone who botted can say anything after getting banned is beyond me. You reaped the rewards for how long. Now, reality hit. How can you have the nerve to whine about it on Guru?

Can you really believe that? I personally got my fill of Guild Wars e-peen back in 2006. You're wrong on so many accounts. First of all, there are people who would never dream of botting because IT CAN GET YOUR ACCOUNT BANNED (believe it or not lol.) I'd like to know how many hours you logged of actual playtime. I'm not about to waste all of my effort and get my super-sexy characters deleted.

I play Guild Wars for fun. To hang out with friends and maybe do something that I deem challenging or maybe just roll an easy area. With all of the gifts anet gave you... consumables... pve skills... nerfing normal mode to unplayability, you still needed more. Sad.

I have 4 years of play under my belt, and everything you said is so backwards this thread should have divided by zero upon submission.

You claim to have 5000+ hours of game play, amounting to something like 3 hours a day, for almost 5 straight years, give or take. You cannot possibly expect a developer operating on a free-to-play service to commit 100% of their resources to pumping out enough content to sate your endless thirst. That is completely selfish and if granted, would mean no sequel, period.

The amount of content released has not been lacking, and new content is still being released to help bridge the lore gaps as GW2 approaches. How can you possibly compare this free service to the ubiquitous WoW, with over 11 million subscribers paying a hefty monthly fee that *allows* Blizzard to pump out the content they receive in return? You have lived free of charge in GW, and you slam Anet for not keeping up with the cash-raking Blizzard ($381m profit, Q1 2010)?

If you bothered to read the blog post about the recent bannings, you would know that Anet has always been fighting botters, this is actually a step to show players, visually, that it's happening. Instead, you take the position that 5,000+ hours of game play over 5 years is simply not good enough, and that Anet forced people to bot. You are clearly trolling at this point.

I won't even rebuke the "re-written, re-skinned WoW" commentary, which just shows how ignorant you are of GW2. I should probably correct myself, your entire post showed how entirely ignorant you are, period.

Here is an idea for you, since it's good practice to help others: If you play for thousands of hours and get bored, play something else! You should be thanking every one of the people that have provided you with thousands of hours of entertainment, subscription-free. I'm tired of hearing people like you claim Anet isn't doing enough, when I've enjoyed all of my time playing this game, no thanks to your ilk.

Relative to the launch of the game and the player population at that time, the game is definitely a ghost town.

As frustrating as pug-ing can be at times, that was really the only reason I played for as long as I did. The replay value became almost nonexistent for me with the introduction of heroes, and that was when I basically stopped playing.

I login occasionally to loiter around LA, and GToB, but that's basically the extent of my gameplay now.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing people go "oh man Guild Wars is so dead".
I still play, and have played for the 5 years. The game has changed a lot since it first came out,
and I'm not happy with a lot of the things either. But, I currently am in a very active guild. We play a lot together, do stuff like RP, events, lottery and etc. To me the game is far from dead.
And if you think the game is dead, then stop playing it, and stop posting here.
Since its not pay to play, there's nothing to keep you from just wandering of to something else.

or maybe find a nice guild and some people to play with, that might revive it for you
