A points system sounds like the best way to go. It's probably the most fair.
Hopefully brand new GW2 players wont be able to just buy the points....

People were going to complain about the HoM's implementation regardless of what they did. The point system sounds like it (could be) the most fair implementation possible. Never PvP-ed? Fine, just get a bunch of PvE achievements and you get the same reward as someone who added some high-level PvP monuments to their hall. Never managed to get the cash to get the rarest minis? Just grab a bunch of lower rarity minis and get the same number of points. It all depends on what the reward tiers are and how many points each mini, monument, or armor gives.

We don't know what will get us how many points yet. I wouldn't start QQing over peoples predictions. THough they might push the hours played thing, and the fact that not everyone had a chance to get those minis
I'm wondering if you will get points for having more than one character with the same title/armor/pet etc. I hope this gets answered in there update.
It will be interesting to see how this info will effect the cureent ecconomy. I see some materials/pets skyrocketing in price, maybe even some rare ones going done (if they do get you much), and hopefully bring some life back into dead areas of the game (people wanting to get pvp titles etc).

Actually it would be perfectly reasonable that all mini are worth the same. It would fit with diminishing returns model. Easy to get all the common ones, then cost alittle more to get the next group, until to get them all you have to spend an insane amount.

That's a valid point. But the points for each mini would have to be rather small that way.

Sounds like someone is leaping to conclusions. Guess what: I have a pretty fair collection of pretties of my own, a nearly-full hall, and GWAMM.
Guess what else: I DID get a reward for putting in the time to do these things in GW1. I got my reward in GW1. I earned the title/statue/mini in GW1 and I got rewarded for it in GW1. I get to show the title whenever I want. I get to bring out the mini and let it run around whenever I want. I get to wear the great looking, expensive armor set whenever I want. Those are all the rewards I have any right to expect.
GW2 is a new game. Any rewards I want out of that game should be earned in that game. ANet apparently wants to give me some token of the fact that I was a customer of theirs before GW2. Fine. But we are all equally customers, and I don't see that having one particular title/statue/mini somehow makes me a better customer, entitled to more reward.
ANet has gone far enough (more than far enough) by offering to give a little extra bling to those who spent more time earning various rewards in GW1, but I see no reason why they should go overboard with this.

I would imagine if they went so far as this then each mini colour would earn the same amount of points. All white W, all purple X, all green y and all gold Z, since any other method would be retarded however I think it will probably be 5(number picked at random) minipets of any kind = maximum points regardless of which minipets they are.

Not agreeing. With only 15 titles you are able to skip the intensive Vanquisher ones. And with 10 characters you'd only need to complete all missions on all characters in Normal mode for the same effect.

I haven't been filling up my hall, but once I know the rewards, maybe I will.
I can't shake the feeling that the people who've dedicated ridiculously rare minis (Vizu, Panda, Polar Bear, etc.) are in for a bombshell that it was a huge waste to do such a thing. Unless, of course, there are parties that I've never been invited to, where people show off their halls and brag to their friends...

Point ceded.
But what makes you think it is going overboard? They are rewarding the GW1 players who put in time/effort with something extra in the continuation of the franchise. When the HoM was first announced they SAID that it would bring unlocks in GW2. Why shouldn't those who did more get more?

No it would be stupid to give more points for unobtainable mini's like kanaxai.

points do infact mean prizes...
Nice! Bad thing is though some people are getting all tense and pressured. C'mon people you DONT HAVE TO get these items in either game and it doesn't make you any better if you do. Play for fun, that is all

The turtle is much cooler. wth is wrong with you?
I'm hoping that having a full hall and GWAMM will get you the maximum points, regardless of whether the hall is filled with common minis or pandas and zheds. I would like to see people rewarded for achieving GWAMM though. That takes a lot more effort and coin than filling the hall. And anyone that sees what the reward will be that doesn't yet have GWAMM can get inspired to do what they need to get the rest of the points.

This makes sense because there is no way that you could keep all your minipets for GW2 because they would have to re-do the animations and art for them all, and the same goes with armor. If all GW1 armor was in GW2, that would double the art, modeling, animation, and testing budgets. Besides, more unique armors would be better anyways. Exception to this might be Obsidian Armor, and Torment and Destroyer Weapons.
I'm thinking that for minis, each color of mini is worth a point value: white = 2, purple = 5, gold = 10, green = 25. And each elite armor is also worth slightly different points, same with elite hero armor, titles and achievements.
Now what I'm most curious about is if the points become a cap, or are spent.
It was made clear that all characters in your GW2 account will be able to receive the rewards earned from achievements in GW1. If I have 1,000 points, do I need to spend 200 on a spear and another 200 for a wand, or does the 1,000 points unlock a tier, and anything under that is free game for any of my characters. I suppose the second one would be better.

They should, up to a point. Obviously someone who has Legendary Guardian has accomplished more than Protector of Tyria. And that will happen just by giving, say, one point for every accomplishment/item that you could display. A few more points giving you a chance at slightly more or better bling is fine.
But, if I open my prezzie and a mini-Rurik pops out while you open yours and a mini-whiptail pops out, did I really "do more" than you did? That's what some of the proposals would have us believe.
Schemes like these will cause nothing but endless bickering and encourage endless grind just to get one more point. My gold minis are worth more than your gold minis, so they should get more points. My LDoA took more time to get than your LMotN, so it should get more points. My LMotN is an award for real accomplishment, not mindless grind like your LDoA, so it should get more points. My Black Widow was harder to cap than your Black Moa, so it should get more points.
Many of the proposals can be boiled down to giving more rewards for more time played and more gold accumulated. "My stuff cost more than your stuff, so I win. Don't bother asking me how I got the money." Giving extra rewards for FoW gives the rewards to anyone who did endless UWSC and spent the profits on FoW. Is this really an accomplishment that deserves extra rewards? The guy who settled for Elite Flameforged probably came by his more honestly, representing a truer accomplishment.
If spending a lot of time and/or a lot of gold to get something is a true measure of accomplishment, then let's just make it easy. Just total up the hours played and the cash value of all assets held across all characters on the account and call it the e-peen score.

Im wondering that too in terms of can they be used up etc. Though im pretty sure they won't give us weapons or armor, they might have stated something like this ages ago i could be wrong though. Just seems unfair on new players.

As I've said before, I just hope that GWAMM has a very nice benefit. Not so that I can epeen in GW2, but so I can pawn it off for a nice little sum. Anet/GW2 is dead to me.
