Wait so am I right in thinking that these points are LIKELY to be used to purchase things which are actually still available to the new players? So, more than anything else, it's just really a, purely cosmetic of course, headstart?

Cuz I like that idea.

It'll be funny if they value all minis the same and/or based on color "rareness".

White mini = X, Purple = X, etc etc.

Really? I never got that impression.

People tend to make up stuff, some people also insisted that you would have to have some level of koabd to get a reward.

Hall of Monuments-When you create your GW 2 account, you will link a GW 1 account to it. You will get an item to double-click to take you to your GW 2 HoM.
I don't think this much was new.

You will get points for things you did in GW 1. With number of points, you unlock rewards in GW 2. A full HoM guide will be going up VERY SOON on the GW 2 website, with pictures and details of rewards. It does not take a full hall to receive rewards.
This information is new.

I guess the only comment I can make right now is that I think it's a little odd for every single achievement in GW just go to one single currency for the purchase of any kind of reward in GW2, rather than it being more of a minipet collector earning minipets, an armor collector earning armors, and something like that. I can't really make judgment on this until I hear more about the system.

I'm curious as to how much stuff they intend to award players through this system and how much we might have to have completed in GW to be eligible for all of it.

can you imagine how pissed people will be that they dedicated for example a mini kanaxi or panda or visu or such just to find they dont get their minis instead they get points which may or may not depend on rarity but doesnt matter because from this it doesnt seem like the mini itself counts IE quantity not quality so if they bought thats like alot of money down the drain on the other hand the value of those minis unded should fall extreemly shouldent it?

I laugh at the idea of them transferring every minipet one-for-one to GW2, or even just doing the rare ones. I've already dedicated all of the celestial creatures, a Kuunavang, and a mini Greased under the belief that they wouldn't be doing that.

idk what all this talk about having a full hall being the only way to get rewards is all about. anet always stated that you got rewards based upon the statues/weapons/minis etc. in your hall. it never said anything about it having to be full. want proof? here you go: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hall_of_Monuments

excerpt from link: "It does not support bulk transfer of armor, items, characters, or gold. However, acquiring select items in GW1 will confer benefits in GW2 via the Hall of Monuments.
Each of your GW1 characters has its own Hall of Monuments. However, the rewards will be "unlocked" account-wide and will transfer to your GW2 account, and it is possible to display all monuments attained on one account in GW1. Accomplishments dedicated in GW1's Hall of Monuments will continue to update your GW2 account even after GW2's release."

I remember quite clearly when the devs said that getting a level in any title would get you something in GW2. Anyone who assumed that you needed a full hall to get rewards clearly was not listening to comments from the people making GW2.

I'm looking forward to this information as it will give me an idea of what sort of achievements I should be working on.

Oooh, now this actually sounds good. If it's what I think it is, those points will be gainable in multiple ways and can be traded in for a special weapon skin or something like that, ya know, like Medals of Honor in GW. The reward will be gainable by everyone, people with HoM just have a slight, once in a lifetime, bonus. Don't think anyone can be pissed about that really

I already have a full HoM, so not too worried.

My only issue is will there be a limit? Like if you dedicated more minis/armors/weapons/etc than the monument can actually hold, will you get points for going overboard? Or will you get the same amount of points whether you have a full hall or more than required? Basically, will we get more points for adding more to the HoM, even though it is already full?

That's the only thing I'm concerned about. I already have minis, weapons, armors, titles, heroes, etc that can't be displayed cause I have the maximum amount that can be displayed up. So do we get credit for what is not displayed, but registered?
