Guild Wars Beyond, dead?
Did it die?
Seems like no GW:B since 2 months, without even a single dev-comment...
They said they are going to Cantha now, but nothing Oo

Why is it that people insist on continually saying 'omg GW is dead!'? We know it's going to be several months in between meaningful updates. If that isn't good enough then stop whining and do something else until the next update occurs.

Why do (Guild Wars) players insist that when something is announced that it should come out IMMEDANTLY on that very day or within the next few days maximum of one week no longer.
When something is announced it's usually in the works and takes a little while to be done.
I have a good feeling that GW:B is still around, still being worked on and that GW will face a positive future of players. If people would just be patient. If you can't be patient waiting for a game or game update, play something else while you wait.

he asked if guild wars: BEYOND(the stuff that involves the WiK and things after WiK) is dead. You don't need to jump down people's throats about posts. Just ignore them. But in this case you jumped down his/her throat for the wrong reason lol.
@OP: there is a relics of orr podcast with john stumme who is the current lead dev for gw1. he talks about what is coming out next. it will be a slow trickle though for sure. it seems that this stuff is being made as they go, as opposed to all of it being made and then released over time. patience. i know its hard to wait, i cant stand it, but they are releasing new content and some of it even takes place in cantha

Short Answer: No, they are just slow.
Long Answer: No, they are just Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow (srsly have you seen how many people make up the live team? I am surprised that WiK was released that swiftly)

I would go ahead and say yea its preety much dead. Last time they talked about GW:B they had a huge wish list(more cons, factions gw:b content,7heros,etc) so if they arent busy with all that, its that they cant be bothered to do it. Thats just my thinking. I'm goign to say that all they have is a huge wishlist, and an inability to do any of it. just my 2 cents.

I understood what he meant. I'm just saying it's stupid to complain that we aren't getting updates massive content updates when we know that it takes 2+ months for a half decent skill update. There are only a handful of people working of GW1 still, they'll need a fair few months to produce new content in addition to the Derv/Para/Smiting updates.

Considering that they don't have any deadlines for any of their projects then yes, we can assume it is dead. For now.

This is the way I assume updates work and in fact game releases too.
On the one hand you have the people working on the update they tend to have a good idea as to how long something is going to take.
Then you have the people in charge they make the decisions as to what's to be done and when its to be done by.
They call in the publicity people who tell us what's happening and when.
See a problem here ?
At no point do the views of the programmers come into it Boss says do it by Monday Publicity dept says Its coming Monday and the programmer has to make it happen.
As we have seen games and updates are nearly always late.
You can be sure someone is getting into trouble for every delay in updates.
You can also be sure the blame never travels upwards.
The solution apart from giving the management a slap is to put more resources on getting the updates out on time, this costs money.

I forgot that a team of four people could get so much done in a game with apparent coding problems in anything short of a year...
Hell, even most indie mmo's have more dev's than GW1 has.

They never said that allowing 7 heroes was on their wishlist. The new head of the GW live team said that he was open to the idea of 7 heroes but he never said it was at all planned.

With the sheer number of skills available you are NEVER going to get the game balanced, so I would forget about that if I were you.

Absolutely correct you cannot ever balance this game because no matter what you do there are or were tens of thousands of play testers busy unbalancing it.
Any alteration of one skill causes an unbalance somewhere else because that one skill alteration has to be tested against pretty much every other skill and combinations of skills.
Of course there were to my eyes some pretty silly skill alterations over the years but the game might have become very boring and stale without them.

^ This. We should have all learned by this point to just expect the worst and if something good happens, then awesome. If we get nothing and the game falls further into abandonment, then we'll get exactly what we expected.

There is no point in adding new content if the content you already have in the game isn't working!
|
i thought 1 of the main reasons for this content was the lore? could be wrong.. the weapon and stuff would just be extra. i think they want to prepare the lore junkies for gw2 with this
