Did GW just get shocked back into life?
It just dawned on me... both the game and guru have been rather slow within the last year. Now that we know exactly what counts towards GW2, I've observed dozens of people who have dusted off their computers, re-installed Guild Wars and are back in full force. It's almost like bringing Lazarus back to life.

The question is for how long. How many of these people are just gonna get their 30 or 50 points and /uninstall?

People are only taking advantage of the high prices at the moment, once the market goes down and people realize that gw2 still has more than a year to come out it will die again.

i think it is but not for long. It's alot of ppl like me taking advantage of everyone scrambleing to do their HoM and the spike in the economy(i can haz 35k abdomintable?).
Yea never been much of a trader. Even without being a trader i've made 260k today off selling useless minis lol.
So yea it ay be ok right now, but give it 2 weeks or less, the game will be dead.. i mean "back to normal"

Besides the existing game owners, there has also been an upsurge in new players who have read the articles on GW2 and want to play GW1 while they wait. This means that the population might be slightly larger than before even after the oldtimers retire again.

There's far more being taken advantaged of than taking advantage. That demand that is driving prices up came from somewhere.

You have a good point, with a spike in GW2 publicity there may easily be a new "fresh" group of players entering the game, pugging may once again become something doable outside of zquests. As for the economy goes, I'm drooling at the price of materials. Who knew you could sell diamonds and onyx for over 1k and sapphires for 8!

Oh ya, GW has gotten a wake up call but i worry people will take it waaaaay out of context and the economy will be crazy for a long, long time. I hope it wont crash :S I will never forget when z-keys were like 500g xD I am curious how the Halloween minis will be affected when the spooky weekend event comes...

I expect the influx of old/new players will last for quite a while. Also, the new players who get into the GW2 hype machine might buy GW and play just for the HoM awards or to get the story.
It will die down sure, but not for a few months at least. It's got me playing again

I agree with this statement.
And @ Liston, yes it's an interesting observation about the district numbers in LA, Kamadan, and Eye of The North.
It makes me wonder if Eye of the North will become a new permanent tradepost.
All in all it's an exciting time to be part of Guild Wars.

The Ecto Crisis of '08 - now....
But, it will take a while for everyone to get the goodies needed for filling the HoM, especially since they know what's available to them for doing it.
Smartest move made by Anet in a long time, I'll say.

Current happenings are best likened to the paramedics arriving and zapping granma back to life. She's alive and kicking again, but the age is showing. And, to be honest, most people coming around her flat are really there just waiting for her beautiful granddaughter to finally turn 18.

I'm an 'oldtimer' installing GW again after the HoM. Yes, I acquired 30/50 yesterday, but I might be sticking around for a while and finally finishing Elona and EotN. (Which I haven't yet, bad me!)

I hadn't played in a couple of years either, but had to get my 30 points. I would like to do all of WiK content, but there doesn't seem to be all that many people doing it, and very few people on my friend list play these days. But maybe when they release new content (Cantha?) I'll do it with others this time.
