Hm... there are only a few things I'd like to see around cantha:
- Luxon and Kurzick conquered by the Emperor.
- The remaining Shiro'ken defeated, if there was any left.
- The tunnel the dredge used to get to Cantha for the mainland.
- The origin of the huge dragon head we can see in Shenzun tunnels.
- Events after Urgoz is destroyed and Kannaxai defeated. What happened with the Warden and the Outcasts after that?
- The real source of the Oni.
- The reason why there are no undead in Cantha. Dragons, giants (and ogres), plants, elementals, ghosts and undead are everywhere. In Cantha, there are turtle and saltspray dragons, TONS of plants, yeti as giant/ogre and stone elementals, and ghost can be seen in Tahnnakai temple. Why no undead? Because of the ritualsits?

My money is on a new explorable island north of Shing Jea, a plot focusing on the fate of the Naga, topped of with a hero of this race. Naga always were exclusively hostile to the player, like Tengu until Factions, Centaurs until NF and Golems until pre-WiK. I'm probably reading too much into it.

You mean Charr, not Golems.
The Stone Summit and the Asuran golems are completely different kinds of golem. The Asuran are not elementals, even if they are animated by elementals, while the stone summit ones are 'artificial elementals' instead simply animated golems.
So MOX is actually the first golem-type golem the players meet... if they didn't met before the Iron Forgeman.
Anyways, I don't really see a Naga as a hero.
They are bit too tribal, too primitive, like Yeti.
I'd rather have a Forgotten one, a Tengu or a Dredge.

Crisis in cantha will probably just explain how Cantha gets to the totalitarian/seclusionist state it's in during GW2. Not that big a deal.

I don't think they will change much in the luxon or kurzick areas? If they endanger the kurzick or luxon speed clears like they changed the VQ in kryta those people will moan and bitch about it.
But since most people do not like the city part of cantha what else could they do. Make some new elite areas(would be sweet)
Introduce dungeons in cantha, where you can get lux or kurz faction? They will have to make people want to come back to gw1 inorder to get them interested in GW2. It wont help if GW1 turns into a ghost game before gw2 is out.

Perhaps because the funeral practices of their culture lean heavily towards cremation, as suggested by all the rit skills involving urns, leaving no exploitable corpse. (There is a bit in Ghosts of Ascalon that mentions that cremation has become more common in Tyria because of Zhaitan. People don't want to leave their corpses around to be turned into minions of the dragon.)
Also, we haven't met or heard of any liches in Cantha. Tyria had Khilbron and Elona had Joko, but there aren't any stories about Canthan liches.
Edit: I don't see how one could connect the lack of undead to the rits, really. Unlike monks, rits don't seem to have any particular power against the undead. That's always surprised me a bit, just as it has always surprised me that monks don't have more power against spirits.

I meant the Golems in Oola's Lab, which are of the same type as M.O.X.. The Charr I forgot indeed, that's another race that would fit into the pattern.
I don't see Tengu or Yeti's being more evolved as Naga. Given what we can see of their culture on Shing Jea and the Jade sea, the don't fall too far behind the Tengu. I think ANet will try to give us something we haven't had before, which is why I would set the chance of a Tengu hero lower than(we have Talon), say a Dredge hero, as we have already played alongside them. We know that the Dredge are a race we'll encounter in GW2, and the serpentine creatures in the trailer suggest that there'll also be a Naga-like race inhabiting the waters Tyria. Whatever it'll be, I think we'd agree on not wanting another boring human melee hero. :P

I would just like to point out that the "unification" of Cantha is not conducted by emperor Kisu but a later offspring. So, I wouldn't expect the actual war to take place in GW:B.
I would sooner expect a depiction of growing tensions. The rebellious Tengu growing more active, which side the peaceful Tengu take, Canthans starting to amass military power etc.

If I had to guess, I would say that Usoku (Kisu's successor) will appear as War Minister Wona's successor and will already be hatching plans for arming the Canthan army and driving out all non-humans, uniting the empire, etc.

Sure, it might not be called "Crisis in Cantha" but there appears to definitely be a next chapter to GW:B. But you're right. There's not much to discuss until we know more details.
It's fun to speculate, however. For example, will a NF chapter follow? Will the rewards be Oppressor Weapons again? Will Thackeray surface in Cantha?
And most of all...is the time they are spending on GW:B development pushing back the release of GW2? WiK took, what, about 6 months? If "Crisis in Cantha" (or whatever it's called) also takes 6 months, and then they do a Nightfall chapter (also 6 months?), does that mean we are at least 1 year away from GW2?
|
More like two years according to my calculations.

Those are krait, which have been confirmed to be an aquatic enemy race in GW2. (The quagga have problems with them, as well, and the player-designed event will involve this conflict.)
The naga culture we see in Cantha may be very degraded compared to what they had before the Jade Wind, when they were still sane and friendly with humans. I would be interested to see signs of sanity returning (to both the naga and the wardens) now that Shiro has been defeated for good.
A naga hero sounds like a great idea, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for a naga rit.

Cantha and Elona will most likely show up as expansions since Anet's already developed backstories for them.

a-kyle, we were stuck in "proph" when the original GW launched.
I'm sure further GW2 chapters will continue in new areas, likely Elona and Cantha, possibly more of Tyria. They've established so much lore in those other 2 continents that the path is paved.

A little bit more info today on the Arena Net Blog about "Crisis in Cantha" (or whatever they will call it).

So again, the WiK lasted about six months? So CiC might also???? Does this mean that GW2 is at least six months out? Then if they do a GWB for Elona, we're looking at a year.
I don't see how they can drag this out another year.

Depends on how you count. We had a lot of teasers on the web in March, and the scavenger hunt with Thackeray. The really active stuff in-game went from April through early July, with the BLA update on July 8. I would say four months.

I doubt they will do anything from now until after wintersday with all the 'things' that seem to go wrong around this time....so probably the next arc will start in January with maybe some precursor to it in between halloween and wintersday. I just can see them trying to do all of that at the same time.

True.
I have never played a game before like GW. With EVERY other computer game I've played, I get bored in 3 months. I have now been playing GW for 4 years, and I still love it.
The only question I have is, "Will I still be playing when I'm 80?"
