As for the sacks of random junk, they will have collectors around for the bday of gw that will give party/alcohol/sweet items for many of the trophy type junk in the sacks. Somewhat like it was for the going away party.

The paper wrapped presents have pretty good stuff in them so I doubt you will be able to trade them for anything.

Never saw a detailed wiki page about this. Is there a page or a forum post that fully explains all this so I don't have to go through 11 pages of discussion that doesn't contain information that I'm seeking.

I not seen anything confirmed on this.

Well, if nothing else, the items from the junk could prove useful in the weeks to come for Nicholas anyway, so mine are going into storage.

Wiki is not completely clear on the requirements for triggering the last part of the quest. Besides at least one set of candles, the requirements are that all the three objectives (food, drink and sweets) are met. An objective is met after providing either one preferred item (drake kabob, apple cider and birthday cake) or three inferior items of the respective category.

Since the quest doesn't provide any kind of resolution it is to be expected that we haven't yet seen the last act of this drama.

I cant seem to trigger the next step in the Gwen / Thackery story line
I have given Thackery all the scaveger hunt items, even down to getting all the sacks of junk, I have seen all of the Gwen and Thackeray dialogues up to #5 and teh War in Kryta dialogues up to #4.. here is the issue...

with out Gwen and Thackeray dialogue #6 where he invites her to picnic, Dialogue 5 - Evennia Recruits the Ebon Vanguard wont start....

Thackery is still outside of EOTN but only speaks of a backup plan, no longer accepts items.. and he doesnt appear inside with Gwen to continue that part of the story line..

I have gone to Lion's Arch Keep but dialogue #6 definately does not start... any ideas ?

your problem is you have to talk to thackary again and pick the option that i -think- was something like "what are you going to do with these " or "now what" i dont remember. point is talk to him again. i had that problem too before figuring it out

1 option only appears when speaking to Thackary outside of EOTN

-Back up a second. A Plan?
which then leads to

"Oh yes. A plan. A plan. A glorious plan! I'm a little bit excited about it." with 3 options.. which then continues to no where

1 question leads to ""Yes, a garden. As you know, I spend most of my time in the field, doing what I can to crush the charr and help Ascalon. Well, for some time now, I've been cultivating a hanging garden on an overlook in the mountains. ....."

2 leads to Tell me more of these items you seek.
3 leads to Let's speed this up, shall we? What exactly do you want?"

the last 2 just gone on to say what he is after again.

After the party leader has completed EOTN or Winter's Day Cheer quest, Lieutenant Thackeray appears in the Hall of Monuments (you must move toward the center a little)

ok, have started the last gwen / thack convco is 1000% a bug
Went back.. wasted 6 honeycomb on 12 more candles.. THEN went i went out side to thackery again.. was a different converstation.. all i need is the girl.. go figure !

i had given him already the max of each sort of gift, gotten all random junk AND wrapped paper parcels.. but some how it bugged and i had to have candles in my inventory to progress the story line.

Note... the candles were NOT taken form my inventory ? wtf lolol just glad the bug went away

It's not a bug, once you've given him everything he needs, NEXT time you'll zone to him he will give you the last dialogue (most important part, that he needs the girl).

Why would you get more candles anyway!

sometimes you wont get the final dialogue if you have some of the items he might want for the party---I had to remove all my candy canes to get the last dialogue to appear--he kept on doing the sweets one even though I had given him plenty of them--
and my rit had to do the cupcake again, so I think it got bugged somewhere--------

lolol zoned like maybe 20 times... even went back to the camp in talmark and lions keep several times, into HOM, changed secondary's, exited and reloaded GW ahaha not that silly majoho

and again on my next char... this ridiculous quest would not give the 'i just need the girl' until u gave 7 items..

gave 4 items , 1 of each type.. no joy..
zoned came back gave 3 items, and the new question appeared WITHOUT having to zone.

Only other thing that changed was to remove 10 lockpicks, 1 x ID Kit and 1 x salvage kit from inventory in between the first 4 and second 3 items

buggy doesnt even come close !

The items that give you Sacks of Random Junk are not needed at all. I completed all the items he wanted (Candles, Drake Kabob, Cupcake, and Cider) without giving him a single other item. He now is gone, and gave me the last dialog of needing the girl.

this is true, the other items are not MEANT to be needed, but this quest is currently suffering a few bugs.

1st try... gave Candles, Hard Apple Cider, Cupcake and Drake Kebab.
Thackery would not continue on

Zoned
vistsed HOM
rebooted
changed secondarys
tried Hardmode
tried Normal Mode
tried with and without heros
visited the shining blade camp
Visted Lions head keep

I am well aware you are meant to give 4 items smile and walk away.. or I wouldn't have posted in the first place that I had a problem.

Also the items that give random sacks of junk now work in place or Bday cupcake, Hard Apple Cider and Drake kabob.

you could give - Candles, truffle, eggnog, creme Brule and it 'should' work

point is it didn't.

I believe this was due to the inventory bug, but in a slightly new way.. even after I emptied inventory, it would progress until a new item was given.
