For fun's sake? Ratio of fun minutes to crappy minutes in PvP for a lot of people, especially new guys, ironically resembles the Zaishen chest drops. And I'm not just defining "fun" as "winning".
New PvPers face the PvP equivalent of the "crappy PUG in PvE" problem; random arena has a ridiculously high population of flaming arseholes. I don't mean noobs - I'm a PvP noob myself - but people who just run around cussing people out and throwing hissy fits without offering any constructive advice. You say, hello, they say "shut up". You can see the same sort of behavior in the build threads on here, full of "stfu noob! you can't play <insert class here>! only people who suck use <skill>! What happened to just playing a game and having fun?
So I trudge through all that. Basically learn how to do what I need to be doing, so we're winning more often than not. I have access to the team arena, but that's pointless because no one wants a relative noob on their team.
I'm still learning, and it's something to do when I'm bored of doing other stuff, at least. But, the chest; they might as well do away with the consumables and just have a big jack in the box pop up holding a "HAHAHA YOU LOSE!" sign. They could put all manner of worthless stuff in there for the "bad" drops, but the creme brulee just seems to be rubbing it in. It's like getting coal in your stocking. Just look at all the replies in this thread that have some flavor of "screw that, I'm never doing that again".
So.. summing up, PvP has -
- a higher than average amount of hyperactive foul mouthed 14 year olds
- fewer people actually interested in working together (you'd think the opposite)
- faction that can be used to unlock stuff, which is pointless to a PvE player who already has access to that stuff anyways
- faction that can be used for chest keys that make you certain some game dev somewhere is laughing at you.
I saw some video of game devs once talking about how they wanted to make PvP a large part of the gameplay - they're certainly not going out of their way to draw anyone in.
3 keys, 3 foods.

1 Key - I don't really PvP and I'd spent what little faction I had unlocking skills before the key update happened.
Anyway after a few snowball fights... a req 13 Dragon Spire Staff, with only one mod - a salvage inscription. Oh, well.

I'm not far behind fir, I'm up to about 20 keys with Creme Brulee and Firewater making up well over 50% of my drops.
Nothing rare, nothing super. but I've nothing else to spend the faction on so I kinda gotta do it.
Atleast I haven't bought any, lol, those poor souls.

Some of what you say is correct.
- Yes there are plenty of dipshit 14yr olds in PvP.
- There are more people than you think that want to work together, your just with the wrong people.
- Unlocking stuff with faction is a short cut How much time/gold/effort would it take to unlock EVERYTHING via PvE? It's very handy don't knock it.
- Yes the Devs are getting good laugh by adjusting the drop rates of Creme Brulee and firewater up, but hey, at least they made an attempt.
So when do we get a way to spend Skill points on PvP onlys?

Agree.
To get away from the 14-year olds, start a guild with friends , and they will be happy to help you get to HoH or 30 consec wins in RA.
Unlocking stuff is very usefull for people that only want to pvp and not grind for perfect gear.

Heck, with the holiday season just go snowball arena. No reason to cheat in RA (so pathetically easy to win anyway).
You get a TON of faction doing that as well.

The topic is Zaishen Chest drops so I guess the pros/cons of PvP are a bit off topic but I gotta ask...
Not flaming you, really, but...why PvP then? If as you say, it isn't fun for you, why are you doing it? We all have the hint lol, the Zaishen Chest is NOT a moneymaker. If you enjoy PvP, then PvP. If it's no fun for you...why are you spending your (presumably) recreational time doing it?
My point was that it's better than the big NOTHING we got for 2 years+ for Balth points. It is NOT a way to make gold except in very rare instances. Brulee may seem worthless to you (and me actually) but they're great for maxing sweettooth title so not worthless to everyone, as say grapes would be.
